The Rebirth Of The Beast Tamer

Chapter 167: The Alpha Awakens 3

Kelvin's heart lurched. This wasn't an army. It was a plague given flesh. "Xerion, burn it now!" he screamed.

The beast reared back, with its throat glowing with violet light. Immediately fire erupted from his jaws, sweeping across the crawling swarm. The forest lit up in purple inferno with lesser undead screeching as they burned to ash.

But the abomination didn't falter. If anything, it only grew more frenzied, its body was convulsed as it lumbered forward. One massive arm swung down.

The blow tore through the root Kelvin had used for cover, splintering it like twigs. Dirt and splinters rained down, forcing Kelvin to dive to clear out.

The monster's other arm slammed into the ground where Xerion had coiled. The serpent darted aside, with the impact leaving a hole in the soil.

Kelvin's breath came fast, but his mind was sharpened. Retreat was death. To survive, they had to cut through the abomination itself.

His eyes met Xerion's. In that silent bond, fire passed between them, with resolve, rage and determination. "Then we end this now." said, Kelvin.

Kelvin sprinted forward, with every step pounding like a drum in his chest. The abomination loomed, taller than a house, with stitched flesh writhing as if it is alive. Its head was little more than a cluster of skulls that melted together and empty sockets that glowed.

The beast's arm swept wide. Kelvin dropped into a slide, with dirt scraping his armor, the limb passed overhead with hurricane force.

He came up beneath its torso, with his blade, he plunged into the mass of rotting flesh. The sword sank deep, but the abomination didn't flinch, instead it laughed, a bubbling mockery.

Black bile gushed out, splattering Kelvin's chest plate. His skin prickled beneath as necrotic energy gnawed at the wards that etched into the steel. He yanked his blade free, rolling aside just as the monster's foot came crashing down.

"Xerion, strike high!" Kelvin commanded. Immediately, the serpent launched upward, with his body spiraling around the abomination's arm like a constrictor. He coiled tight, squeezing until bones cracked beneath its bloated flesh.

Xerion's fangs sank into the stitched joint of its shoulder, with venom pumping in torrents. The monster bellowed, staggering, but refused to fall.

Kelvin seized the moment. He leapt with his blade raised, and slashed across the swollen chest. His steel carved through stitches, splitting the cavity wide. A flood of half-born undead poured out, clawing and shrieking as they tumbled onto the ground.

The smell was unbearable. Rot, bile, and burning flesh filled the air, clawing at his throat. Kelvin gagged but didn't falter. He hacked through the crawling spawn with strikes, each strike was fueled by raw desperation.

The beast reeled. Its steps grew unsteady. But instead of falling, it lifted both arms, slamming them down like hammers. The ground quaked, cracks splitted the earth. Kelvin stumbled, and Xerion was thrown loose, crashing against a tree with a thud that rattled his scales.

"Xerion!" Kelvin screamed. The serpent hissed back, dazed but alive. His eyes burned hotter than ever. He launched forward again, ignoring the pain, his fangs was glowing brighter as venom boiled within.

Kelvin dragged himself upright, chest heaving, blade slick with ichor. The abomination loomed over him, its stitched chest was torn wide, ichor pouring like tar. But its many heads screamed as one, hatred filling the forest.

Kelvin's voice was coarse but unyielding. "You are not the predator here." He surged forward once more with Xerion at his side.

The beast's roar rolled across the Necrotic Forest like thunder that is made of bone. Branches shivered, loose soil quaked, and even the sky above seemed to darken.

Kelvin staggered but braced his feet, raising his sword as the monster's stitched chest heaved. Each breath oozed necrotic vapor, a choking fog that burned his lungs with every inhale.

He glanced at Xerion. The End-Tyrant was battered, scales were cracked where the abomination had flung him against stone. But his golden eyes were still burned with that terrible, untamable light. Their bond pulsed with shared fury and the serpent hissed once, low and promising.

When they taught they are done, the beast lurched forward. Its lumbering steps shook the ground, roots were snapping as if they are in protest. Its stitched arms swung down like battering rams.

Kelvin dove sideways, rolling hard, his sword carving a desperate slash along its bloated thigh. The blade bit deep, but the wound didn't slow the beast—it only widened its grotesque grin of fused skulls.

From that stitched stomach, a roar erupted. It was not just sound. It was a corruption that was weaponized. The necrotic bellow crashed into Kelvin like a tidal wave, rattling his bones, tearing at the edges of his beast-bond.

His vision was blurred. For an instant, he felt himself dragged backward, pulled toward the void. Xerion's voice was sharp, it snarled into his mind and it anchored him.

Kelvin gasped, shaking off the stupor. "Xerion… stand with me!" Immediately, the serpent surged forward, his coils was weaving through the roots with uncanny speed. He launched upward, latching onto the beast's arm once more.

Venom poured from his fangs, sizzling against the seams of necrotic stitches. Flesh sloughed away, hissing, but the Alpha roared again and slammed its arm violently against a tree, battering Xerion. The impact rattled through the bond, nearly knocking Kelvin to his knees.

But the serpent held it. His coils was tightened with muscles straining, and Kelvin knew what that meant. If I don't strike now, Xerion will be crushed.

Kelvin sprinted. His legs pumped, every muscle was burning with boots kicking dirt as he charged the beast's front. He ducked under a swinging claw, the rush of air hot with rot.

His sword gleamed faintly with the light of his soul-runes, runes that were fueled by more mana than he could afford. Pain lanced through his arm, but he ignored it.

He leapt with his steel as he met the necrotic flesh. Kelvin drove his blade up into the beast's gaping chest cavity. For a heartbeat, the monster convulsed with ichor spilling over him in a flood. Its scream was a hurricane in his ears.

Then came the retaliation. The Alpha jerked backward, wrenching the blade from Kelvin's grip. Its other arm slammed down like a falling boulder.

Kelvin had just enough time to raise his arms. The blow caught him across the torso, hurling him across the ground. He crashed into roots with bone-jarring force. The breath fled his lungs. His vision was spotted with white.

"Kelvin!" Lyra's voice cut through the haze. She was there, shadows were pooling around her hands. Alvian Salaris screeched above, unleashing a storm of feathers that flashed like shards of night.

The raven's shadow flashes struck the Alpha's skull cluster, searing sockets with streaks of darkness. Darius roared from the flank, his soulstone gem blazed.

Rhoam, the armored panther, charged headlong into the Alpha's knee. The impact was like thunder and bones were cracked. The beast toppled sideways, staggering, its grotesque bulk shoke the trees.

Kelvin forced air back into his lungs, dragging himself upright. His body screamed, ribs bruised, but he wouldn't falter.

His friends his Crest were here, and the Alpha was faltering. "Now!" Kelvin bellowed, with his voice raw. "Bring it down!"

Lyra's shadows surged, weaving into traps that lashed around the Alpha's arms and throat. The style was unmistakable, with the runes she had inherited from Elara, her late sister.

Tears was filled in her eyes even as her lips curled in a grim snarl. She held the shadows firm, each glyph was a memorial and a weapon.

Darius's gem blazed brighter. His flung sealing wards that latched onto the beast's chest, disrupted the necrotic fire within its ribs. The Alpha howled, thrashing, its corrupted energy that was sputtering like a fire that doused in rain.

Xerion seized his moment. The serpent tore himself free from the abomination's arm which launched into the air, and dove for the monster's throat. His fangs sank deep, with fire erupting from his maw in a torrent of black-violet flame.

The Alpha screamed, its stitched ribcage bursted outward as the fire consumed it. Bone and flesh split apart with flames boiling through its insides.

Still, it did not fall, the beast staggered toward Kelvin, desperate, it's arms was flailing in blind rage.

Kelvin retrieved his sword from the dirt, its blade cracked but still burning faintly with soul-runes. His heart pounded, as his veins stretched and he drew deeper on his bond with Xerion.

This time, he didn't hold back. "Lets move together," he whispered. His voice was cracked with strain. Xerion's hiss answered with a roar that layered atop Kelvin's heartbeat.

The soul-bond flared, fusing the tamer and beast in shared will. Pain erupted, searing veins and splitting muscles—as mana burned like fire through his body.

Kelvin sprinted straight at the collapsing Alpha. His sword rose, runes blazed which is fueled by both his will and Xerion's flame.

The blade sank into the abomination's spine, driving all the way through. A surge of violet fire that exploded outward, consuming the monster from within.

Its stitched body convulsed, shrieked, then collapsed with an earth-shaking crash.
