Chapter 3: Preparing for a dark future
Wandering through the skies of this planet, a giant ship gracefully glides through the air, above the vast white clouds, with gentle breezes and warm sunlight. Looking up at the sky, you can see two planets similar to the current one (Giong) — TanVien and ChuDongTu, and another planet hidden behind the sun called LieuHanh. All of these names were given by Chi Phối. It has been over six months since the journey began, and the ship has stopped at four locations. One was the peak of a mountain in the north, a cold, cloud-piercing place. This is considered the highest point on the planet, and if not for the thick fog, we might have been able to see our homeland from there. The second was in the middle of a deep blue ocean, where the entire ocean surface was covered in green algae, surrounded only by waves and the howling of strong winds. The third location was inside a forest of cherry blossoms, where they stopped in a land covered in white soil, with almost no other colors except for the pink of the petals and the brown of the cherry tree trunks. The fourth stop was a deep valley where, when one shouts, the echo sounds like whispers. Currently, they are still on their journey, unsure of where the next stop will be.
Juan: Lady Yagi (the name given to Control by the people here), have we arrived yet?
Yagi: In three days, when Giong comes closest to ChuDongTu, that will be our stop. Everyone, prepare everything as I have instructed.
Three days later, the massive Radiant ship stopped beside a sheer cliff. Now, looking up at the sky, a giant planet loomed above them.
Yagi: Juan, gather everyone on the deck.
Juan: Yes, my lady. Everyone, gather on the deck!
All the inhabitants living on the Radiant gathered on the deck—some riding small flying discs, others standing on observation towers looking down, while the majority respectfully bowed beneath a stone platform where the one they revered most, Yagi, stood.
Yagi: Thank you all for accompanying me on this journey. I have been truly happy during this time. But now the moment has come; we will part ways at this very moment. Here is my final directive: Stay on the Radiant, protect it, and operate it until one day when everything converges into one point. That will be the moment when peace lasts forever.
After these words, the people grew anxious.
Juan: My lady, this is too sudden. We cannot—
Yagi: I told you before. You must continue on your own, Juan. From now on, manage this ship well, and until that day comes, this will be your mission, as well as my request.
Juan stood motionless, watching her depart. His mind must have been confused, his heart conflicted. Then, she stepped down from the stone platform, heading toward the central circle of the ship amidst the quiet sobs of the people. A beam of light shot up into the sky toward the distant planet, and the sounds of wind and cracking merged, drowning out all other sounds. In that moment, Juan ran toward the circle, reaching out as if to grasp something, but perhaps it was too late—he couldn't get closer. As Yagi was about to disappear, she said something.
Yagi: Farewell, Juan.
Juan could only see her lips move; the noise from the circle and the light prevented him from hearing her voice. After a while, the light disappeared, leaving only silence. No one spoke until they realized their goddess had left them, and then they began to cry. Among the crowd, one figure stood still near the circle. Then, a man approached and spoke.
Man: Juan, are you okay? I saw you get knocked back. (The man asked Juan.)
Juan: I'm fine.
Man: It's over now. She's gone, and we must heed her words. But who knows if we'll ever see her again.
Juan: We will stay here and wait for the day she returns. I'm certain of it. (Then, the man helped Juan inside.
