The Radiant Light - [English Version]

Chapter 20: Be joyful

Since the battle with the Fairy Dragon King ended, Diego has issued a ban on killing humans for 30 years, with his own purpose in mind. After his body healed, Zebraem frequently passed through Renacer over the years. Each time, he had to meet Ganoderma and immerse himself in the containment tank for several weeks. Time and again, he was defeated by the entity inside with a single strike, but over time, Zebraem gradually understood that the level of bodily paralysis was correlated with the amount of energy the caster infused. During Zebraem's most recent entry into Renacer, he was able to pinpoint the exact amount of energy the caster, Gane, used to control him. That was when Gane was completely nullified, and anyone who dared to use Gane on Zebraem would suffer a devastating injury.

Zebraem (Dark Zebraem): I've done it. Aaaaahhh!!!!

Zebraem shouted in joy. He knew that the next time he entered Renacer, he would certainly not lose in the same way again, and then he collapsed.

In the following years, Zebraem continued to enter Renacer. The being inside no longer used Gane on him. Now, the real battle had begun. Every time they fought, Zebraem would use Godra once, but Godra could only be used once within a very long period because it consumed too much energy. The casting time of Gane was too long to hit his opponent, so Zebraem considered using Gane on his opponent but then realized his opponent was actually himself. Thus, he abandoned that idea and tried to predict the target's evasive maneuvers.

No one knew how much time had passed. Zebraem had entered Renacer hundreds of times, and his abilities had improved significantly. Now, if he faced the Dragon King again, Zebraem was confident he could confront him at his full power.

One day, while Zebraem was heading to Renacer as usual, he suddenly stopped, as if something had crossed his mind.

Zebraem (Zeb): Where is the box I took from the tower?

Zebraem reached into a hole in the air, fumbling around to find the box he had forgotten about for 22 years since he had taken it.

Zebraem (Zeb): Here it is. It's been so long, I almost forgot. Let's see what's inside.

Zebraem (Zeb): A red pendant? It looks pretty! This thing was taken from that tower, so it doesn't seem ordinary. Most treasures activate when triggered by something. Let me try infusing some energy into it.

Suddenly, the pendant emitted a dazzling light and shot through the window, shattering it.

Soldier: What happened, sir? We heard glass breaking.

Zebraem (Zeb): It's nothing. I accidentally broke it. Call someone to clean this up.

Soldier: Yes, sir.

Zebraem quickly left. On the way, he pondered deeply.

Zebraem (Zeb): What just happened? I don't understand how that treasure works. Could it have any negative consequences?

Zebraem was lost in thought when a demon approached him.

The Demon: Sir, the ranking and reward ceremony will begin next week. Lord Diego asked me to inform you.

Zebraem (Zeb): Understood. You may go.

The demon withdrew, fading into the shadows.

Zebraem (Zeb): "I'll put the pendant matter aside for now. The ranking and reward ceremony, huh? Maybe Diego will announce the leaders to the people. In recent years, the number of races gathering on this island has been steadily increasing. This is necessary." (Thinking)

A week later, the ceremony officially began. Surrounding the stage, in the stands, tens of thousands of people were witnessing the event. Below the stage, several figures were waiting.

A loud cannon fired, fireworks filled the sky, and a performance of paper flowers covered the air above the stands. Diego slowly made his way to the stage from backstage.

Diego: I, Diego, as the Archlegion, officially declare the ceremony open!!!

Cheers and applause erupted. The audience had been waiting a long time since the news of the event's organization.

Diego delivered a speech about the events of the past years, the achievements gained, and the losses endured to reach this day. After about 30 minutes, the moment everyone had been eagerly waiting for finally arrived.

Diego: Now, I will announce the official ranks within the Legion.

Diego: The highest rank includes the Commanders, namely: Diego, Irene, Helm, and lastly, Zebraem.

Diego: Those are the names of the Commanders, each holding a different role and wielding the highest authority within the Legion. Their roles cannot be replaced by anyone.

Cheers and applause rang out once more. The crowd had heard of the feats of Zebraem and the Marshals, and everyone was extremely excited.

Diego: Next, those who are called, step forward to the stage.

Diego: Poseidon!

Kon!

Ralanka!

Elena!

Loigan!

Salvador!

Dande!

All those named stepped onto the stage as Diego called each one.

Diego: You are now officially recognized as Marshals of the Legion. You are bestowed the following items: the Ring of Etta, one treasure of your choice from the treasure room, and 10 spell storage scrolls. Moreover, you will receive what a Marshal rightfully deserves, as you have proven your abilities.

Zebraem handed out the items to each person and then stepped back.

Diego: Marshals are allowed to have two Generals under their command, and you may choose anyone.

Diego: Now, for a special announcement, we are currently in possession of a Divine Weapon!

After that statement, the entire audience gasped in astonishment. A Divine Weapon holds immense power, and if a Marshal possesses it, it would be a significant leap in strength.

A girl carrying a box stepped out from behind the curtain and moved to the center of the stage, standing about five meters in front of the Marshals.

Diego: Any Marshal who is deemed worthy by the Divine Weapon will possess it!!!!

The atmosphere grew tense, as everyone knew what was about to unfold.

Diego: The Marshals will step forward one by one, placing their hand on the box. If the individual is worthy, the box will respond within 10 seconds of contact. Now, the Marshals, starting with Marshal Dande, will approach one by one.

Everyone held their breath in anticipation. One by one, the Marshals stepped forward, but none received a response. The audience was becoming disheartened until Poseidon stepped up. Poseidon placed his hand on the box, and it glowed blue like the color of the sea. Lightning and storms began swirling around.

Diego: Poseidon has been recognized. WORTHY!!!

The box opened, and a gleaming trident appeared in midair, slowly descending into Poseidon's hands. Fireworks, flames, and cheers filled the air as the Marshals took turns congratulating Poseidon. The ceremony was an overwhelming success.
