The Prodigies War

Chapter 2050: Blood Drinking Lantern

The ancient teleportation arrays worked like a passageway in every city as they were connected to each other.

According to Lin Xun's itinerary, his trip to the Fog Spirit State would require him to enter thirty-nine cities and use their teleportation ancient arrays in order to arrive at the destination.

This was already the best option to save time..

However, the price would be a sky-high sum of dao crystals.

Luckily, the current Lin Xun wasn’t lacking in terms of dao crystals.

Buzz~

In a wave of obscure spatial fluctuation, Lin Xun vanished inside the teleportation array.

“Make way!” a loud shout resounded as a powerful figure rushed toward the array.

It was a gray-robed youth who was holding a bronze lantern, the oil in which was bright red like blood. As the flame flickered, strands of strange fluctuations were diffused.

“Damn it, he escaped!” Looking at the empty ancient teleportation array, the gray-robed young man’s face became gloomy, and he was so furious that his eyes wanted to pop out.

“Lu Chu, what happened?” Battle Emperor Ruiyang appeared out of thin air.

He was thin and had gray hair. The monstrous Emperor-stage might radiating from him was so oppressive that all the cultivators around retreated in horror like they were seeing a deity!

“Reporting to Elder, just now, the Blood Drinking Lantern captured Lin Xun’s blood qi fluctuation, but I got here a step too late and let him escape via this teleportation ancient formation…” The gray-robed young man called Lu Chu looked frustrated.

He came from Heaven and Earth Dao Court, but he recognized Battle Emperor Ruiyang of Primordial Dao Court, so he didn’t dare neglect the latter in the slightest despite his vexation.

Blood Drinking Lantern!

Battle Emperor Ruiyang’s eyes flashed as he knew the properties of this extremely miraculous lantern. As long as the blood of the target was collected and used as the oil in it, then the target’s location would be firmly locked onto no matter where they ran.

Battle Emperor Ruiyang's face quickly turned unsightly. “Are you saying that just now, that little scumbag Lin Xun escaped right under my nose?”

Lu Chu subtly confirmed this with his silence.

Battle Emperor Ruiyang's expression dimmed. He felt like he had taken an invisible slap but he had only realized it at this point. His face was on fire.

“The blood in this lantern…” He gazed at the Blood Drinking Lantern.

Lu Chu quickly said, “It’s indeed Lin Xun’s. Outside the Gate of Ruination in the Ancient Immortal Forbidden Zone, he was severely wounded and bled profusely. Our sect’s disciples collected some of it.

“According to what my Heaven and Earth Dao Court knows about him, he is extremely good at disguise and stealth, to the point you can say that he constantly changes. Normal tracking methods, even those used by Emperors, would still have difficulty pinpointing him.

“But this Blood Drinking Lantern is different.”

Battle Emperor Ruiyang acknowledged that statement with a nod. Taking a deep breath, he said, “Since he left via the teleportation array, he must be aware of his current situation. It’s time we put in our full force so as to prevent him from escaping Central Plain State.”

Lu Chu also had the same opinion.

Battle Emperor Ruiyang sent out his message on the same day. Right away, he received the cooperation of Primordial, Heaven and Earth, and Panwu Dao Courts, who mobilized their various forces from every region.

Also on that day, all the ancient teleportation arrays in the territory of Central Plain State were blocked off.

Other than members of Primordial, Heaven and Earth, and Panwu Dao Courts as well as the organizations in their alliance, no other cultivators could use them anymore.

They were trying to cut off the possibility of Lin Xun leaving the state through teleportation arrays!

In Yongqiao City.

When Lin Xun saw the blocked teleportation array, he immediately realized that the enemy had most likely found a method to track him!

“Looks like I have no choice but to change my strategy.” Lin Xun wasn’t actually nervous. Since teleportation arrays were no longer viable, he could just use his own teleportation skill. The only inconvenience was that it would take more time.

Whoosh!

As the Grand Universe Ark sailed through the clouds, Lin Xun sat down and started meditating.

In the Ancient Immortal Forbidden Zone not long ago, he had broken through to the Supreme Quasi-Emperor Stage.

Unlike other supreme quasi-Emperors, as soon as he had entered the first level of this stage, the Dao Divine Flame condensed in him had been fused with the profound power of all three ways of physical refinement, qi refinement, and spirit cultivation!

Of note, the Dao Divine Flames of other quasi-Emperors could only break through a realm with each fusion of one of those three ways.

From this, it could be seen how special Lin Xun’s current dao was.

It wasn't about how his cultivation had been able to jump to the Quasi-Emperor Triple Flame in a single leap, but rather how unique his Dao Divine Flame was.

This also allowed him to embark on an entirely different, unique path from everyone else in the world.

When one reached the Quasi-Emperor Stage, they would be able to control an incomplete version of Emperor law power, hence the title ‘quasi-Emperor.’

However, Lin Xun had recently realized although the grand dao law powers at his disposal were also incomplete, they weren’t far from that of the true Emperor Stage!

“Perhaps it’s because my Dao Divine Flame is too unique?” Lin Xun fell into thought.

It was undoubtedly incredible that the law power he wielded as a quasi-Emperor was already almost comparable to that of a true Emperor expert.

At least, there had never ever been such a thing in the past!

Lin Xun stroked his chin as he suddenly had a bold idea. “I must definitely put it to the test when the opportunity arises.”

Soon, he discarded all distracting thoughts and got to tempering the five viscera spirits.

Currently, he already possessed the basic insight to start cultivating the Five Virtues Stage of the Grand Dao Yellow Court Classic. If he could successfully cultivate it, then the five bodies of Green Wood, Yellow Earth, Red Flame, Black Water, and White Metal would each gain a spirit and cultivation no weaker than that of his own!

At that time, he alone would be able to have the battle prowess of six of himself!

The most wondrous thing was that even outside of combat state, the five clones could study the great dao and dao scriptures on their own. Without a doubt, this would allow Lin Xun to save a great deal of energy and time in his cultivation.

Before Ruo Su, Li Xuanwei, and the other senior disciples had left, they had all passed their legacies to Lin Xun, so he was now in possession of a great variety of techniques.

If he were to study them all on his own, then the time and energy needed would be indefinite.

However, it would be a completely different story if there were five clones to simultaneously help him do that.

Therefore, the most important thing for Lin Xun was not to break through in cultivation levels, but to perfectly cultivate the Five Virtues Stage!

……

Even though Lin Xun had long suspected that the enemy had the means to track him down, he had not expected that they would come so quickly.

A day after he left Yongqiao City, Lin Xun, who was meditating in the Grand Universe Ark as it passed through a boundless desert, was awakened by a power fluctuation.

Stepping out of the cabin, he saw a group of brilliant rainbows sweeping down from the sky. Bright and blazing, their might kicked up a storm of sand.

At the head of the group was a scholarly, refined old man who held a snow-white whisk duster. He emanated an Emperor aura that compelled heaven and earth to wail.

Behind him was a group of quasi-Emperor experts, each with a powerful and intimidating aura.

In the Central Plain State full of hidden dragons, crouching tigers and ancient forces, such a lineup was not overly impressive, but it was still more than enough to deal with a single supreme quasi-Emperor.

“They came quite quickly…” Not a trace of panic could be seen on Lin Xun’s calm face.

He reckoned that the other party had used ancient teleportation arrays, and that was why they could catch up with him so quickly.

“Criminal, where can you escape to now?” said the leading old man majestically, his thunderous voice shaking the ten directions. The air was instantly filled with a solemn and murderous intent.

Meanwhile, every expert in his group had already firmly locked onto Lin Xun with their energy, the killing intent on their faces unconcealed.

Lin Xun seemed oblivious to it all, his eyes profound as he calmly said, “State your name, old beast, and maybe I’ll set up a tombstone for you if my mood is good enough.”

That old man scowled. “You are all alone these days, so I really don’t understand where you get your confidence to clamor like this from.”

Lin Xun retorted flatly, “Try me, and maybe you’ll see?”

The calmer he appeared, the more unsettled the old man felt.

Those disciples of Fangchun Mountain had since departed after the end of the heavenly game, leaving Lin Xun on his own, but who dared to guarantee that they hadn’t left him powerful measures to fend for himself?

“Go and capture the brat. I will guard you all from behind,” the old man gave his order in a serious voice.

The quasi-Emperor experts behind him were stunned and exchanged looks of hesitation.

They weren't stupid. How could they not know that the current Lin Xun was nothing his past self could compare to, having become a true supreme quasi-Emperor!

In terms of cultivation, he might not have reached the same level as older-generation quasi-Emperors like them, but the key word was ‘supreme’!

The old man's face sank. “What’s the problem? Are you worried something bad will happen even when I’m present?”

Lin Xun snickered, “Old beast, if you're not afraid, just come and fight me yourself instead of sending others to die.”

These words were exactly what those quasi-Emperor wanted to say; they just didn't dare to express their dissatisfaction to the face of a true Emperor.

Meanwhile, after being repeatedly insulted with the phrase ‘old beast,’ the old man’s expression darkened as he flew into a rage.

As an Emperor who overlooked worlds and was admired by all beings, when had someone below his cultivation level ever gotten the guts to be so unbridled and slanderous to him?

“Little scum, I never had any intention to bully people who are so much weaker than me, but you took advantage of that to stomp over me. Since it’s your wish, I shall execute you here!” The old man suddenly waved the snow-white duster in his hand.

Rustle!

Glistening white rainbows imbued with Emperor dao law power emerged, spreading out like rain and filling the sky. The air around collapsed in explosions as it was unable to withstand that kind of terrifying might.

This piece of heaven and earth was plunged into turmoil in the process.

Such was the power of an Emperor. A simple attack turned the world upside down and frightened devils and gods!

The quasi-Emperors behind were shaken. When would they be able to cross the threshold of the Emperor Stage and remove the word ‘quasi’ from their title?

On the Grand Universe Ark, Lin Xun stood completely still.

However, between his hair, a needle-like flying sword emerged and gently slashed in the void.
