The Prime Minister’s Darling

Chapter 272: 155 Care (Second Update)

That's it. Of the six people at home, three fell sick in an instant.

Gu Jiao and Xiao Liulang dare not let the old lady stay at home any longer.

Chickenpox for Xiaojingkong was similar to a severe cold, but for the old lady, it could be fatal.

"Shall we let the old lady stay next door for a few days?" Gu Jiao suggested to Xiao Liulang.

Gu Jiao already knew that the old man next door was the grandfather she had treated on the mountain, mainly because she had recognized Liao Quan.

Liao Quan had sent New Year's gifts to her and Xiaoshun on New Year's Day, giving her a warm jade pendant.

That jade pendant was mistaken by Jin Yu as his own, creating a huge misunderstanding.

No matter whether he was the old lady's husband or not, in the end, he was a trustworthy person.

Xiao Liulang opened his mouth, actually, the two of them...were bitter enemies, the kind that fought to the death.

Would it really be okay to stay next door?

Wouldn't the two of them strangle each other out of irritation?

The old lady was initially hesitant to stay with her husband but considering the three kids had chickenpox, she chose to take care of her own safety.

When the old lady appeared sulkily in front of him, the old priest was watering the flowers and got so scared that the water pot fell: "I don't have any private money left!"

The old lady glared at him, picked up her belongings silently, and entered the house.

The old priest was dumbfounded: "This, this, this is my house!"

The old lady coldly tossed his things out and said expressionlessly: "From now on, it isn't."

The old priest: "..."

The old priest clenched his teeth, he would bear with it, he would!

Xiaoshun and Xiaojingkong, who had never fallen ill in a year, unfortunately had a worse case of chickenpox than Jin Yu.

Despite having taken fever-reducing medicine, both of them still had a fever of forty degrees Celsius.

Gu Jiao administered an infusion for them.

Jin Yu sat across from them, looking at their plight while being pricked by needles with a smug expression.

Seeing the big and the small sitting in the chairs with IV drips, they really wanted to attack Jin Yu right away.

When Xiao Liulang walked into the room and saw this, he realized that this peculiar method of treatment was unique in the six nations, and throughout the universe.

The secrets of the two of them were gradually being revealed—his past, her medical skills, everything was surfacing bit by bit.

As he wasn't willing to delve into his own past, he had no right to inquire about her medical skills.

Gu Jiao felt the same.

Everyone was smart here.

"Do you need any help?" Xiao Liulang asked.

Gu Jiao: "We're out of hot water."

"I'll go heat some up." Xiao Liulang turned and went to the kitchen.

Gu Jiao stayed behind to observe the condition of the three.

Xiaojingkong, being the youngest, adjusted most quickly to the new experience of having a needle in his hand.

Xiaoshun, on the other hand, was shaking with fear.

"It's okay." Gu Jiao gently reassured him.

Xiaojingkong soon felt drowsy after receiving the infusion.

Gu Jiao took him on her lap and sat quietly next to Xiaoshun, keeping them both company.

Gu Jiao originally thought that Xiaojingkong, being the youngest, would have the mildest symptoms, but at night, Xiaojingkong's hands and feet began to feel cold.

Gu Jiao heated some water for him to soak his feet.

The little fellow couldn't sit still.

"You hold him." Xiao Liulang suggested.

Gu Jiao sat in a chair holding Xiaojingkong, while Xiao Liulang knelt on the ground to hold the wooden basin for him to soak his feet.

This movement alone would be tiring for a normal person, not to mention him.

Gu Jiao suggested, "Let me do it."

"That's okay." Xiao Liulang was sweating from his forehead and he replied lightly, "He doesn't want me to hold him."

Xiaojingkong was already drifting off, how could he tell who was holding him?

Gu Jiao glanced at him, and moved her hand to wipe the sweat off his forehead with her sleeve.

After soaking his feet, Xiaojingkong sweated profusely, his fever subsided a bit, and his hands and feet no longer felt so cold.

Honestly, Gu Jiao didn't have much experience with child patients in her previous life, so she dared not take it lightly.

"I'll go check on Xiaoshun and Jin Yu." Xiao Liulang decided to carry the used hot water out along with him.

Jin Yu and Xiaoshun also had a fever, but it wasn't as severe as Xiaojingkong's.

In the middle of the night, Xiaojingkong suddenly sat up, his large eyes blinking, as if he was looking at something.

Gu Jiao asked, "What's wrong?"

"Jiaojiao," he said.

"I'm here." Gu Jiao took him into her arms and lay down.

Xiaojingkong closed his eyes.

After a while, he sat up again, his eyes as wide as saucers.

"Bad brother-in-law." he mentioned.

"He's here too." Gu Jiao called Xiao Liulang in, "Go to sleep, your brother-in-law is here too."

Xiaojingkong looked at Gu Jiao, then at Xiao Liulang, and finally fell sound asleep.
