Chapter 212: 131 Bullying (Second Update)_2
The secret guards assigned to him by Old Master Marquis had been dispatched elsewhere and were not with him.
If it weren’t for this, Gu Changqing would have figured out his identity through Old Master Marquis’s secret guards last time.
Gu Chenglin and his party had long since left, and it was as if no one had ever been here.
Despairing, Gu Yan let out a whining sound.
Pity, nobody could hear him.
Gu Xiaoshun grew frantic, “Where on earth has Gu Yan gone? Gu Yan! Gu Yan!”
Gu Yan heard Gu Xiaoshun’s calls, but despite his struggles, he could not make him hear.
Gu Xiaoshun’s voice grew distant.
Desperate, Gu Yan writhed on the ground, trying to move towards the door, but his heart suddenly began to throb with unbearable pain!
His heart condition was acting up!
He had the medicine given by his sister, however…
He couldn’t reach it.
Gu Jiao sat in the carriage, suddenly feeling a severe pain in her heart.
“Please hurry!” she urged the coachman.
“Right away!” The coachman drove as fast as he could, but the last thing Gu Jiao wanted to happen occurred.
“Clear the way for the Princess Consort!”
The guards with “make way” signs filled the entire street, completely blocking the path of the carriage!
Gu Yan felt as if he was on the verge of death.
Lying on his side on the ground, his hands and feet bound, he was exhausted from struggling and looked fearfully into the unknown darkness, choking, “Sister, it hurts.”
On the way back to the classroom, one of Gu Chenglin’s friends asked, “Master Gu the third, won’t that kid be in any danger?”
Gu Chenglin dismissed the idea, “What could happen? Didn’t you see him bouncing around? He’s just being locked up for a few hours, teach him a lesson! See if he dares to glare at me again next time!”
“True that!” The group laughed heartily as they walked back to the class with Gu Chenglin.
Gu Yan’s breath grew fainter and fainter.
He couldn’t even feel the pain anymore.
He knew he couldn’t fall asleep, or he might never wake up again.
But he was just too tired.
He couldn’t hold on any longer.
Clang——
Just as he was losing consciousness, the door was kicked open.
Blinding light flooded in.
Gu Yan opened his eyes to see a tall, formidable man standing before him against the light, appearing godlike.
Gu Changqing tore the ropes binding his hands and feet with his bare hands, bent down to pick him up, and hurriedly walked outside.
Gu Yan leaned out against him, his consciousness fading. He grabbed the man’s collar, as if clutching a lifesaving straw.
He opened his mouth.
Gu Changqing leaned down, “What?”
Gu Yan, weakly, “Medicine…”
Gu Changqing set Gu Yan down and began searching his person for the medicine. In a moment, he found a small porcelain bottle, poured out two pills, and fed them to Gu Yan.
Gu Changqing took a water bag from the saddle and had Gu Yan drink some water.
Color returned to Gu Yan’s face and the pain in his heart eased a bit. However, he was still very weak and couldn’t even speak.
Gu Yan recognized him, reached up to grab his clothes, his weak and frail fingers barely making a grip, reminiscent of a weak and wronged cat.
Gu Changqing sighed helplessly, “I’ll take you home first.”
He happened to pass by and heard a faint whimpering sound. At first, he thought it was a cat, but then he felt something was off and hopped over the wall to check outside the firewood room.
As a martial artist, he had excellent hearing which an ordinary person wouldn’t possess, and he could hear Gu Yan’s faint movements.
Gu Yan was once again on Gu Changqing’s horse. Last time he had had the strength to keep his distance, but now he was completely drained. Like a snail without a shell, he leaned limply against his chest.
Again, Gu Yan found his chest to be firm!
But it was also warm.
Gu Yan was suddenly filled with a sense of calm and comfort, a feeling he had only ever experienced with Gu Jiao before.
Gu Yan had no energy left. To prevent him from falling, Gu Changqing had one hand on the reins and the other around his waist.
His arm strength was different from Jiaojiao’s; it was the virile strength unique to a man.
When Gu Changqing took Gu Yan home, Gu Yan was already asleep. Gu Jiao had just arrived at the door and ran straight into them.
As Gu Jiao looked at Gu Yan, her gaze instantly became frosty.
Gu Yan’s breathing had steadied, but his clothes were dirty, his face was scraped, and it was obvious that something bad had happened.
Gu Changqing explained, “I found him in the firewood room at the academy. You can ask him for the details when he wakes up.”
Gu Jiao took Gu Yan, and thanked Gu Changqing: “Thank you.”
Still astride his horse, Gu Changqing replied expressionlessly, “You’ve saved me too, we’re even.”
Without further comments, Gu Jiao carried the sleeping Gu Yan back into the house.
When the old lady saw her beloved Yan Baobao in this state, she was so angry that her hair stood on end: “Who did this?!”
She did not even consider that Gu Yan might have fallen himself.
Gu Yan was usually careful, and even if he had fallen, his wrist wouldn’t have shown signs of it being grabbed.
Gu Jiao took out a stethoscope, checked Gu Yan’s heart rate, then found his small bottle of medicine. She had filled it with two emergency heart pills, which was just the right dosage for one time.
The fact that the meds were gone now indicated that his heart condition had acted up.
Luckily, he had taken the pills on time, or else she would be facing a cold corpse right now.
Gu Xiaoshun did not find Gu Yan at the academy, so after asking for leave, he ran home, only to find that Gu Yan was injured.
“How did this happen?” he asked, “I just went to pick up a book!”
Gu Jiao commanded, “You go back to the academy to attend classes and ask for leave on Gu Yan’s behalf.”
“Ah… okay,” Xiaoshun reluctantly obeyed his sister’s command. He left for the academy, looking back every three steps.
Gu Jiao did not go anywhere else, she just sat by the bed, waiting for Gu Yan to wake up.
“Who did this?” Gu Jiao asked.
Gu Yan lowered his gaze, his fists clenched.
Being his sister, Gu Jiao could feel his emotional turmoil, “Someone you know? Acquaintance?”
Gu Yan’s eyes dimmed.
An acquaintance?
It was someone who had a blood relationship with him.
At first, Gu Yan did not recognize Gu Chenglin, but when the latter locked him up in a cold, dark room, he was suddenly flooded with familiar fear.
Gu Chenglin had trapped him this way when they were children.
Also, when he heard someone outside the room address him as the “Third Young Master Gu,” he could almost confirm that it was indeed Gu Chenglin.
After dealing with Gu Yan, Gu Chenglin was in high spirits, and even his classroom energy saw a lift.
On the way home, Gu Chenglin told his older brother, Gu Chengfeng, about his encounter with Gu Yan.
“What? The Yao family’s son is in our academy?” Gu Chengfeng was astonished.
“It should be him,” Gu Chenglin replied.
Gu Chengfeng frowned, “What do you mean it should be him? Either it is, or it isn’t.”
Gu Chenglin thought for a while before answering, “Isn’t that sickly boy supposed to not survive past fifteen? He’s fifteen now and even if he doesn’t die, it should be soon. But that Gu Yan didn’t look like he was about to die.”
Gu Chengfeng remarked, “Maybe it’s someone who just happens to share the same name. Why did you even bother with him?”
Gu Chenglin sneered, “He was glaring at me.”
“You!” Gu Chengfeng did not know what to say.
Gu Chenglin chuckled, “Second Brother, do you hope he is that sickly boy, or do you hope he isn’t?”
Gu Chengfeng responded, “Does it matter what I hope for? If it really is him, your actions may lead to his death!”
Gu Chenglin was startled, “Really?”
Gu Chengfeng gave him a look, “Do you not recall that time when you locked him in as a child? He nearly died! Father was furious, and big brother and I were punished alongside you!”
Gu Chenglin pursed his lips, “Don’t act as if you’ve never bullied him.”
When Gu Yan was living at their residence, Gu Chenglin and Gu Chengfeng were the main ones who bullied him. Gu Changqing, although he also despised Gu Yan, never bullied those younger than him. Instead, he was directly targeting the Yao family.
