The Pokémon:Isekai

Chapter 26: Mt.Moon 2

The old woman paused for a moment, then explained, "Ahh, my granddaughter needs to get to Cerulean City for a work. She works with a computer guy up there, but she came to visit us for a while but the trainer who was supposed to take her back never returned, and even though she keeps calling him, he just says his pokémons are sick."

She sighed before continuing. "She doesn't have a Pokémon to travel with, so... could you take her there?"

I glanced at Rotom, unsure how to respond. Suddenly, the red screen appeared in front of me again.

[SIDE MISSION: TAKE THE GIRL WITH YOU UNTIL SHE REACHES BILL's HOUSE.]

[REWARD: STORAGE SYSTEM CAN BE OPENED FROM LONG DISTANCES.]

I stared at the screen, muttering, "It's been a while..."

The old woman tilted her head. "I'm sorry? We just met."

"Ah—uh, I was just talking to myself," I quickly corrected, refocusing on the mission prompt.

I've got nothing to lose, I thought, considering the reward. Being able to access storage system remotely would be a huge help.

"I'll accept your request, ma'am," I finally said.

The woman's face lit up. "Thank you, young man! I'll tell her to gather her things right away!" she said before rushing upstairs.

Rotom floated beside me, giving me a curious look as I started eating my sandwiches.

After some time had passed and my stomach was full, the old woman returned. This time, she was accompanied by a girl around her 17 years old with long blue hair. She wore a white hat, white shirt, black coat, and matching black pants and boots. In her other hand, she pulled a small luggage and a small bag at her back.

She glanced at me with a neutral expression.

"Are you the one?" she asked.

"Yeah, ı guess," I replied, feeling the air between us turn a little cold.

Before the silence could settle, Rotom barged in.

[Hello, madam! My name is Rotom! And this is Alex Carter, the one who defeated the Unbreakable Brock and the one who will become the next Champion!]

Skyla raised an eyebrow as Rotom continued its introductions.

[This is Madam Aria the Ralts! And this is Mr. Oddy the Oddish!]

Both Aria and Oddy let out a small cry of greeting. She crouched down beside them with a curious smile.

"I've never seen a Ralts with my own eyes, but I'm pretty sure most of them are green while some are blue. Why is yours purple? And why does that Oddish look like some kind of anime villain?" she asked, tilting her head.

Oddy immediately looked down, feeling a little hurt. Aria patted his back, comforting him.

"They're Adapted Pokémon, that's why," I explained, crouching down and patting Oddy's head.

"Ohh, like the ones I saw on TV!" she said, standing up. "I heard Adapted Pokémon can be dangerous. Are they?"

Her words reminded me of the wild Pokémon in Professor Cherry's lab. Those ones definitely acted like they wanted to destroy the world and kill anything that they could see.

"Mostly, yes, but Oddy and Aria aren't dangerous," I assured her.

The old woman then handed a big picnic bag to her. "Take these with you. I made them myself! And take care of yourself, okay honey?"

She smiled and hugged her. "Aww, thank you, Grandma. Don't worry ı will."

After one last hug from her grandfather, she turned to me.

"Alright, we can go."

As we walked out of the store, I adjusted my bag, now carrying some flashlights and some extra food.

"So, what's your name?" I asked, trying to break the silence.

"Skyla," she answered. "And I suppose yours is Alex, right?"

"Yeah, I'm Alex."

The silence returned while we walked along the dirt road until, finally, we stood before the dark entrance of Mt. Moon.

We stood in front of the cave entrance for a while, the looming darkness stretching far beyond what our eyes could see. My mind wandered back to Sammy's story—the endless swarm of Zubats, the sheer panic of running for hours in the pitch-black tunnels.

Yeah… this is gonna suck.

[So, are we going to enter, Alex Carter?] Rotom asked, its glowing screen casting an eerie light over the rocky terrain.

"Do you have a map, Skyla?" I asked, hoping we had some way of navigating this place without getting lost.

She stood there for a moment, thinking. Then, she dug through her bag, searching for her phone before finally pulling it out. "Here! I do have one!" she said, opening a map app which looked like working with internet which doesn't exist in the cave.

I glanced at Rotom, then back at her, my face screaming: Yeah… we're cooked.

With a sigh, I reached into my bag and handed her one of the flashlights, taking another for myself. As we switched them on, Rotom's own glow intensified, providing even more light as we finally stepped into the cave.

Inside, the dim glow of our flashlights revealed jagged rocks, stalactites hanging from the ceiling, and the occasional glint of something reflective—probably minerals embedded in the stone. The air was damp, carrying the faint scent of earth and something… unsettling.

"It's like something out of a horror movie," I muttered, watching as shadows danced across the walls.

[Hehe, actually, a lot of horror movies like Gengar's death and many more have been filmed here, Alex Carter!] Rotom said, floating ahead.

Skyla glanced at it, then at me, clearly regretting her choices of coming with us as we ventured deeper inside.

As we wandered through the tunnels, Geodudes littered the ground, blending perfectly with the other rocks. Skyla learned this the hard way.

"AHH! IT'S MOVING!" she screamed, leaping back as the "rock" she had just stepped on sprang to life and started swinging at her.

Rotom burst into laughter. [Haha, She stepped on a Geodude! Classic rookie mistake!]

After escaping the angry Geodude, she got distracted by a Clefairy hopping in the distance. "Oh my god! It's so cute!" she squealed, immediately chasing after it.

Meanwhile, Oddy got absolutely obliterated by a wild Paras's Fury Cutter while trying to follow her One hit and down.

By the time we finally found a small, safe alcove to rest, we were exhausted.

Skyla leaned against the rocky wall, catching her breath while looking around."So… when you grow up, do you want to be a…?" She trailed off, waiting for me to fill in the blanks. It was unexpected but she probably got bored from the silence.

I thought about it for a moment before answering. "When I was a kid, I wanted to be a cop… but now, I want to be Champion."

It wasn't entirely a lie. I really did want to be a cop as a kid… and well, I was already a World Champion in the real world.

"And you? What do you want to be?" I asked, turning the question back on her.

"I've always wanted to be an Inventor," she said without hesitation.

I raised an eyebrow. "And do you think you can?"

"Yeah," she said confidently. "If I can show Bill my work, I'm sure I can officially become an inventor!"

To prove her point, she unzipped her luggage and began pulling out a collection of gadgets and blueprints.

Rotom brightened its glow to illuminate her work.

"This one is called Third Arm!" she said excitedly, pulling out a strange mechanical arm-like contraption. She strapped it to her head, and the arm sprang to life, moving on its own.

I stared at it. "It's look pointless—"

Before I could finish my sentence, the arm suddenly flipped me off.

Skyla's eyes widened in panic. "AHH! NO, NO, IT'S JUST RESPONDING TO EMOTIONS!" she shouted, frantically trying to take it off.

I couldn't help but laugh. "Well, I guess it's pretty expressive!"

As she continued explaining the details the cave started to feel bigger than before.
