The Path of a Genius to Becoming a Pokémon Champion

Chapter 329: The Zen Genius

Although Arthur's teasing "guess" annoyed Ivy, she had to admit she was happy with the new atmosphere he had brought to the team.

The vibe at the Starlight and Frost team was visibly better than at Arthur's old team, the Sea Carp.

Of course, this had a lot to do with the fact that the owner's daughters were personally serving on the team, and their peaceful, never-arrogant personalities. You would never have a situation like at the Sea Carp team, where some clueless young analyst would dare to disrespect a player.

But in turn, they had their own set of problems—

The team's overall attitude always seemed too soft, too zen.

Neither Ivy nor Bianca were the wild, tomboyish type. Captain Leo was a good old guy. The three people with the most authority on the team were all too nice, which directly resulted in the team's inability to develop a tough attitude.

They had even specifically hired a head coach who was as strict as a headmistress, but from the feedback of this past season, the results weren't great.

Ivy had been worrying about this.

She never expected that a casual trade at the end of the year would bring in a young player who would unexpectedly change the situation!

Arthur himself hadn't intended for this to happen. His self-discipline and rigorous training were always just for himself. He rarely got involved in other people's business. Besides, he wasn't the captain; he had no reason to manage others.

But it was precisely his quiet, low-key daily training that had unexpectedly ignited the training passion of more than half the team.

First Justin, then Bella and Kevin. Everyone wanted to get his guidance.

Back at the Sea Carp team, Bella had never been this reliant on Arthur. Back then, she was a free-spirited slacker, shamelessly clinging to Luna's leg every day, shouting, "Sister, carry me!"

But in the past year, she had personally witnessed Luna's transformation with Arthur's help! She had seen her good sister finally realize her dream of becoming a main singles player!

And it didn't stop there!

Even more ridiculously, she then saw Arthur get promoted to a main singles player as well! And not just to make up the numbers—he was the real deal!

It was… absurd!! Completely and utterly absurd!!

Her best friend and her junior had both been promoted. Now, Bella was finally starting to feel restless.

The slacker's heart was stirred with an impulse to turn over a new leaf!

So, she joined the group of rookies seeking guidance, without a shred of the "idol burden" of a senior.

The word "shame" had never existed in this husky-girl's dictionary.

And so, the number of people training with Arthur had grown to three, plus him, that was four. The entire team only had nine players…

The atmosphere was instantly fired up!

To be honest, this result was completely unexpected for Ivy. She never would have thought that buying Arthur would bring about such a change.

But she was more than happy to see it happen.

Just then, they saw Aaron walking towards them, also looking like he was heading for training.

"Morning," Aaron greeted them with a smile. And you had to admit, his smile was quite handsome.

Unfortunately, Bianca wasn't buying it. She deliberately retorted, "Morning? It's past nine! They've already finished their morning run."

In truth, the two sisters had also just woken up not long ago. She was only saying this because she didn't like Aaron.

And Arthur, having been here for a while, was gradually learning some of the inside story—

The rumors were true. Aaron had indeed joined the team with the intention of getting close to Ivy and Bianca. It seemed his family was very keen on him marrying one of the two sisters to climb up the social ladder and connect with their powerful family.

Unfortunately, the two sisters weren't very fond of him.

The older sister, Ivy, was more mature and didn't show her emotions. But the younger sister, Bianca, was much more direct. To this day, she still didn't give Aaron a pleasant look.

Aaron didn't get angry. He just kept smiling cheerfully, his thermos never leaving his hand as he calmly took another sip.

Slurp…

But at this moment, the look in Arthur's eyes as he watched Aaron was a bit strange.

In fact, he had seen Aaron once before, at the very beginning of the morning run. So Arthur knew that he also woke up very early and trained very diligently. He just didn't know why he never defended himself.

This person possessed a Pokémon like Garchomp, a desert overlord, yet his personality was the epitome of the Starlight and Frost team's past attitude—unbelievably zen.

Arthur had always been very curious about him.

Especially since he had recently heard some secret information about Aaron from Captain Leo.

After Ivy and Bianca left, Arthur took the initiative to invite Aaron. "Want to have a few spars?"

"Me?" Aaron was a bit surprised.

"Yes. My Charizard wants to challenge your Garchomp."

"Oh, no, no," Aaron's first reaction was to wave his hands repeatedly. "I can't beat your Charizard X."

Arthur was taken aback, his understanding of this person's zen-ness reaching a new level.

"Not the one that can Mega Evolve."

The one who wanted the challenge was actually Old Flame's daughter.

The rebellious little dragoness had a restless nature. After she had turned and breathed fire on him in the last match, Arthur had given her a "friendly" education. But less than half a day later, she was full of fighting spirit again, looking for opponents everywhere.

This hot-blooded-protagonist-like recovery speed was a real eye-opener for Arthur.

He felt like this girl was either getting beaten up or on her way to getting beaten up every single day…

And now, she had her sights set on Aaron's Garchomp, wanting to challenge this true Dragon of the land!

Aaron was taken aback but, in the end, didn't refuse.

The two then went to an outdoor training field at the base.

Without a referee, the two had to control the pace of the battle themselves, stopping when they felt it was enough, then using the healing sprays and nutritional drinks prepared on the side of the field to help their Pokémon recover.

Once they had healed, they would fight again!

For the entire morning, the two of them sparred with their two fixed Pokémon.

Old Flame's daughter and Garchomp fought an intermittent, grueling battle for several hours, until their stamina was nearly depleted.

And by this point, Arthur and Aaron's stamina had also declined significantly.

Commanding Pokémon in battle might seem like just moving your mouth, but in reality, it's an extremely draining, high-intensity activity!

During a battle, a trainer must be completely focused! You can't be distracted for a single moment!

Every second counts in the arena! The pace and speed of Pokémon battles on the professional stage are incredibly fast. A moment's lapse in reaction, and by the time you try to give a command, your Pokémon might have already been knocked down.

Not to mention tactics like reading your opponent, which require even more mental energy and reaction speed!

After a whole morning of sparring, even Arthur felt a trace of fatigue.

And to his surprise, Aaron had also kept up.

This made Arthur even more interested in this zen teammate who had the mentality of a retired old man.

"Your Pokémon and your command are both very strong," Arthur praised him sincerely.

But Aaron was as humble as ever. "Not at all. I'm just a substitute. I'm still a long way from you guys."

"You don't have to be so modest. I think you're already a genius."

"Haha, thanks for the encouragement. I'm flattered."

"No, I'm serious."

Arthur looked directly into the other's eyes, trying to see something hidden.

He then continued, "I heard from the captain. The age you've made public is fake, isn't it? You're actually only 23."

Aaron was silent for a long time.

After several seconds, he gave a self-deprecating laugh.

"Actually, after my birthday in November, I'm already 24."

Arthur continued to stare at him fixedly.

A 24-year-old main singles player, not counting Arthur himself, was already enough to be called a world-class genius!

You have to remember, the age Aaron had publicly stated was 29.

And he had been promoted to a main player two years ago
