The Passive Skill Collection System

Chapter 2: Home Tour and Unsure Future

The drive was longer, as they lived in a less populated region closer to the coast. They passed tall skyscraper complexes during the drive.

Lu Jae-sung glanced around, leaning against the tinted car window, analyzing the modern constructions. Despite not being particularly interested in architecture, seeing the world beyond his hometown felt thrilling.

"Stop behaving so immaturely," the parent conveyed, displaying irritation at his actions.

He tilted his head and sat up straight, staring at the motherly figure with a questioning expression.

"Is she being serious? She was never far from her birthplace, either. Why does she feel the need to act superior, as if she was royalty her whole life?" he hid his feelings, and fury slowly developed inside him. His heart pounded, making it possible to hear by not pressing an ear against his torso.

Until they reached a massive, elevated apartment, silence occupied the cabin once more.

When the vehicle stopped, a back entrance swung open, revealing a skeleton-like figure, with his upper body not fully visible.

Bu Bujeo bent over and offered his palm, covered by a white glove, to his stunning wife in a blue dress.

Lu Jae-sung opened his door, looking out for other cars, while taking his memento box with him. The chauffeur flinched in surprise, not expecting he would open it himself, afterward giving him a look of slight displeasure while patiently standing next to the door.

He kept it open, knowing the driver would shut it himself.

*Thud* *Thud* — *Thud*

While the noise of banging echoed, the limo rushed off, leaving burned tire marks in the back. Guilt flooded his mind for failing to apologize to the chauffeur.

He turned and followed the duo, clutching his memento box close while scanning the area.

Structures that looked like the particular building directly ahead crowded this location, each showcasing unique designs. Some were office structures, while the rest were residential. The high-rise buildings integrated many coffee shops, bakeries, and various businesses, providing daily necessities for passersby.

Accessing the residence was quite simple. Bu Bujeo presented a shimmering golden card with a howling wolf against a moonlit background to a muscular bodyguard, letting them in.

Lu Jae-sung entered and observed the scene, gazing at the triplet of oversized gilded chandeliers packed with brilliant diamonds hanging from the ceiling. Crimson rugs enveloped the floor of the expensive-feeling interior, while exotic plants and vines added a refreshing touch to it.

"This place is big!" pondered Lu Jae-sung, feeling somewhat flabbergasted.

They progressed to a specific area with built-in elevators and Bu Bujeo inserted the golden card into a card reading machine.

*beep*

The display emitted a welcoming sound, unveiling the elevator access upon its arrival.

Lu Jae-sung brushed past them, eager to mimic their shadow behind them. He was not fond of the idea of being stared at while riding the lift, thus he edged toward a corner.

"Stupid son, don't you know any manners? Didn't the school teach you how to behave?" Bu Bujeo cursed as he got in, holding his wife's fingers and guiding her within.

"Express as much hate as you want, bitch!" he stared at him, aware it would annoy him further if he noticed his motives.

Unfortunately, his concentration wandered off as he looked down at Bu Areum's chest from above, with clear signs of desire in his eyes.

Lu Jae-sung, turning his eyes away, found it repulsive, while his mom blushed and embraced the unattractive man tightly in the lift.

"Once I have accumulated a large sum of wealth, I am going to leave because of their overly sweet behavior." He hoped his wish would come true.

Frankly, Lu Jae-sung had considered settling in a rural area, after staying with his mom for a while, out of sheer convenience. Despite the costly prices, he longed to be far from her, dwelling peacefully until his eventual end.

Why was he thinking about this? Departing from her might seem good enough, but the sad part was his luck with the awakening. He once aimed to emulate his admired heroic dad, however, at this moment he feels like a failure, weighed down by stress and worry.

His dream was to look after his loved ones, yet now he doesn't have anyone, only his selfish mother, and this financial resource right before him. The disgust he had was like water in an overflowing dam, slowly rupturing through. If he didn't excel at hiding his genuine emotions from them, he would have exploded and cursed at them multiple times, making his situation even worse.

"I can at least use them to live in a better environment, hehe," showing a creepy smile, not worrying about the couple before his eyes.

*ding*

At last, the lift arrived, following what seemed like an endless wait. They showed up in an enormous hallway as they exited the lift, with a carpet guiding to wide stairs that split midway into two separate corridors on opposite sides of the complex.

Multiple servants stood next to the scarlet carpet with glistening tassels on the edge, bending to the middle of the magnificent, decorated with statuettes and paintings area.

Not even a mention of Lu Jae-sung, the household staff greeted them with a "Welcome home, sir, ma'am."

"You may go now," Bu Bujeo stated with no regard for them as if it was the norm not to show gratitude to the hard-working servants.

Bu Areum leaned backward, covering her delicate features with her slender hands unexpectedly. Left stunned by the appealing inside for a while, Bu Bujeo grabbed her hands and observed the flustered expression, kissing her cherry lips.

Lu Jae-sung's jaw dropped out of surprise: "How bold can this hideous womanizer be?" He rolled his sight and started observing his surroundings, not wanting to look at the two lovebirds in front of him.

He saw the servants going from place to place, completing a range of tasks. One maid drew his focus, a petite lady, the same age as him. She was the daughter of one of the household members, being destined from a young age to serve others. Her visage exhibited determination and focus, all the while showcasing cuteness. She expertly wove her hair into a braid with three strands, securing her extended black hair at the back during the tasks.

Without being able to learn more about her, his parents eventually continued with the home tour. Bu Bujeo's majestic room was the first thing showcased in the left corridor. This didn't concern Lu Jae-sung, so he waited near the entrance to, now their, micro-apartment.

Before venturing elsewhere, they met another person. It was a woman named Bu Hae-ryung, who was tall and beautiful. With her extended red hair that cascaded down to her thigh, her visage seemed flawless, complementing her sharp chin and big red eyes. Her other features were perfect, too. Her legs, which appeared to be long and strong, complemented her moderate-sized breasts. Before he knew her age, he had assumed she was about 25, but he couldn't have been more wrong. She was 20 but gave off an adult vibe to her appearance. Her room was situated before her father's.

She also exuded energy and warmth, particularly towards Lu Jae-sung.

"You don't have to worry much about him. Because he is biracial, I suggest you focus your concern on someone I recommend," he mentioned, mocking Lu Jae-sung for being half-Chinese.

This, of course, left a bitter taste inside his mouth.

"Mind your damn business, fucker," he cursed in his mind while an uncomfortable feeling dwelled inside him.

After hearing this particular information, she ignored him the whole time, having an insignificant conversation with her parents.

When they ended their chit-chat, Bu Bujeo led them to Lu Jae-sung's micro-apartment, going through the hallway to the other corridor. Missing one door on the left with a sign showing "Bu Hwan-kyu," the other sibling who lived in this apartment.

They finally arrived next to his micro-apartment and went through it. Bu Bujeo showcased the kitchen, which served as the entrance and a dining room altogether, and three other rooms. The kitchen felt quite empty because it only contained the kitchen unit and a dining table with four chairs. They proceeded on, checking the other room. They took Lu Jae-sung to his bedroom, which was located right in front of the entrance. It was also quite empty, with a luxury bed hugging a right closer corner with a simple nightstand and wardrobe close to it. The other side of the room, which was where they were standing, was empty.

Bu Bujeo was tired of the need to show him the other rooms, so he gave him four necessary things.

"Here, take this silver card, which grants access to the apartment and is registered to your storage room at the end of the corridor. Next are these two keys. You should be smart enough to know what it is for. Next is this black unmarked credit card. I will manage all your finances and the monthly spending limit with it. Also, if you lose it, contact me immediately after you realize it's missing."

The instructions and contexts were simple. Lu Jae-sung nodded and took all the things from his hand.

"Also, the maids are preparing lunch. Be there in an hour." Adding information to the latter.

After leaving him alone, he was finally free to take a small nap. He set his alarm so he wouldn't be late for lunch and headed off to his bed.

"I wonder where my life leads to." He closed his eyes and took the long-deserved nap.
