Chapter 53: Chapter 53

She gestured toward a room with transparent walls, where Hugo caught a glimpse of advanced medical equipment unlike anything he had seen before. Inside, he could see Kairo and Zola lying on cushioned tables as a team of specialists worked with quiet efficiency. Holographic screens displayed detailed scans of their bodies, highlighting areas of concern. A soft hum filled the room as scanning devices hovered above them, emitting a gentle glow as they meticulously analyzed every inch of their physical and neurological states.

"The results for Kairo and Zola will be shared with you as soon as they're available," Lorraine assured him, noting Hugo's concerned expression as he watched his children. "We're taking every precaution to ensure their well-being."

They continued down the corridor, passing another room where Carmilla and Victor were being attended to. Here, Hugo saw the two siblings in what appeared to be a deep meditative state, with their bodies surrounded by a soft, pulsing light. The process was different from what he had seen with Kairo and Zola, indicating a tailored approach for each individual. A team of technicians monitored the spectral readouts, looking for any anomalies in their energy fields.

"Carmilla and Victor are under the care of another one of our specialists," Lorraine said as they walked by. "Their scans are focusing on both physical and spiritual alignment, given their unique circumstances."

As they approached the next room, Hugo caught sight of Lily, who was sitting upright on a scanning table, looking a bit dazed but otherwise unharmed. A small, spherical device hovered around her, projecting detailed holograms of her internal systems. A technician was speaking to her in soothing tones, explaining the results in a way she could easily understand. The care and attention being given were remarkable.

"Lily should be finishing her scan shortly," Lorraine mentioned, noting how Lily's eyes brightened when she saw Hugo. "Her injuries were relatively minor, but we're being thorough to ensure there's no underlying damage."

The corridor grew quieter as they neared the last room, where Beck and Aleara were being examined. Unlike the others, their process involved more complex machinery—devices that seemed to be assessing both physical injuries and cognitive functions. A large, cylindrical chamber in the center of the room emitted a low, rhythmic pulse as it scanned the two siblings. Hugo noticed that the technicians here were focused and intensely precise, adjusting the equipment with the slightest of movements to achieve optimal results.

"Beck and Aleara will finish soon," Lorraine informed him. "We're performing advanced neural scans to ensure there are no hidden traumas. Their experience during the incident was particularly intense."

Finally, they arrived at a more secluded section of the center, where Lorraine paused before a set of double doors. "Vas is being looked upon by my father," she said, her voice taking on a tone of gravity. "His state is more serious than the rest of you."

Through a small window in the door, Hugo could see Vas lying unconscious on a specialized table. Around him, a team of experts moved with deliberate care. Lorraine's father, a man of imposing presence and sharp intellect, was orchestrating the process. Several holographic screens floated around Vas, displaying complex data streams that Hugo couldn't begin to interpret. The equipment here was far more sophisticated, some of it seeming almost experimental, as they worked to stabilize and assess Vas's condition.

"We're doing everything we can to ensure Vas's recovery," Lorraine added, sensing Hugo's deep concern. "His injuries were extensive, and the explosion took a significant toll on him. My father is personally overseeing his care to ensure the best possible outcome."

Hugo could only nod, his mind reeling from all he had seen. The sheer level of technology and expertise at the Sync Research Center was overwhelming, yet he couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. Despite the secrecy and the mysterious nature of this place, it was clear that they were committed to the well-being of everyone involved.

Not long after, all of the kids were given the all-clear following extensive checks. Each of them wore bandages that, unbeknownst to the casual observer, were infused with advanced technology designed to accelerate healing and cellular regeneration. Some had sustained fractured bones, but thanks to the cutting-edge medical treatment at the Sync Research Center, those injuries were swiftly addressed. However, at Gerald's request, only the more severe injuries were treated at an accelerated rate, leaving the minor ones to heal naturally, a reminder of the ordeal they had endured.

They now sat together in a spacious, softly lit room, dressed in comfortable white robes. The atmosphere was calm, almost serene, with the subtle scent of herbal tea filling the air—a deliberate choice to help them unwind after the harrowing events. They sipped their tea in silence for a moment, the reality of their survival slowly sinking in.

"So, we're all good?" Beck finally broke the silence, glancing around at the others.

"Yep," Carmilla responded, her voice steady. "At least it seems like it."

"Has anyone checked on Amy?" Victor asked, concern evident in his tone.

"Yeah," Aleara replied. "They took her to her father's place while they brought us here."

"Is she okay?" Victor pressed.

"Still shaken by everything, but she's alright," Aleara reassured him. She then turned to Zola. "What about your dad, Zola?"

"He's fine," Zola answered, though her voice wavered slightly. "Worried about everything that happened. He blames himself for us being there."

"Dad shouldn't blame himself," Kairo interjected. "We could have said no."

"Anyway," Beck cut in, trying to steer the conversation. "It's been a couple of hours since the incident. They're probably trying to figure out what caused it."

As they began discussing the chaotic events that had unfolded, the door to the room opened, and Gerald entered, his presence commanding immediate attention. He wasn't alone; Abigail was with him, her sharp eyes scanning the group.

"Great job," Gerald said, his voice firm but carrying a note of approval. "You'll no longer be followed by my men."

"Finally," Lily sighed with relief, the weight of constant surveillance lifted.
