Chapter 6: Are you crazy
"Ouch!" shouted Rose as she was cleaning her cupboard. She reached for a CD and a diary bound together, only to bump her leg against the cupboard. A poster fell down on her again. "Aww, man!" she muttered, unfolding the binding. As she opened it, a familiar face stared back at her: Daniel, a pop star. She paused, suddenly transported back to her younger years. She remembered how crazy she'd been about him when she was younger. And here she was, feeling a surge of the same excitement. Embarrassed but amused, she looked at her childhood writings about Daniel, the world-famous pop star. She felt her heart race like it used to, and she smiled to herself.
With a renewed wave of enthusiasm, she took a poster of Daniel and stuck it above her bed so that every morning she could wake up and see him smiling at her. "Maybe this will be my only comfort at home, especially with Mom always nagging me," she thought. She drifted off to sleep, replaying all her childhood memories of loving Daniel.
In Rose's Dream – She saw a grand stage with violet lights, and there, standing tall, was Daniel, performing his music. Rose was right in the front row, and suddenly, Daniel looked directly at her. "I've missed you so much, Rose," he said, "I love you."
Rose woke up as the dream ended, feeling a strange mixture of excitement and confusion. "Why did he suddenly show up in my dreams after all these years?" she wondered aloud. "I just don't understand."
The next morning, Rose woke up early, determined to buy some Daniel-themed merchandise. She dressed up in a short pink skirt with black checks, a cropped top, and a cute vest. She did her hair and nails, looking like a doll. Even her mother seemed impressed. She grabbed a small, adorable handbag and headed out. As the first customer in the shop, she was thrilled. She looked for Daniel's posters and bought five of them, then moved on to keychains. She spotted a rack of bracelets and T-shirts and got even more excited.
She stepped outside to grab some snacks to go along with her new DVD. Her Sunday was filled with joy, and she stayed up late, barely able to sleep.
The next morning, Rose called Julia. "Julia, look at my bracelet! Isn't it cute?" she squealed. "What? It's Daniel! And it's a limited edition. How did you get this?" Julia asked. "I went early this morning," Rose replied, brimming with excitement.
Sam noticed her happiness and walked over. "Hey, beautiful! You look so bright today. What's up?" he asked. Rose told him it was all because of Daniel. "Daniel who?" Sam asked, confused. Julia chimed in, teasing, "It's not just Daniel—it's Daniel the great!"
"What's so great about him?" Sam asked bluntly. Rose chimed in, "He's a pop star, that's what!" Sam scoffed, "So what if he is? I bet he can't even hold a basketball in his hand." Julia laughed, "Yeah, probably. And you probably couldn't hold a microphone, Sam." Rolling his eyes, Sam returned to his seat.
It was the last day of school before summer vacation, and everyone was excited. Sam and his teammates, however, had to practice basketball. The coach had informed them they'd be practicing at home this summer since no one was allowed in the school while renovations for a new classroom were underway. "This is madness," Sam grumbled to Rupert on their way home.
On the way, Rose explained, "They're building a new classroom." Sam sighed, "Ugh, for what?" Rose shrugged, "Who knows."
Julia chimed in, "Okay, guys, see ya! If any of you make holiday plans, let me know." Rupert smiled at her, "Oh really?" Julia grinned, "Come on, it'll be fun if a big group goes. We don't want to end up just kissing and hugging, right?"
Rose, Sam, and Rupert exchanged looks. "Alright, alright, we get it!" Julia laughed as she waved goodbye.
Sam turned to Rose and Rupert, "Do you guys have any plans for tomorrow?" Rupert replied, "I think we should relax a bit and then ask Julia and everyone else if they're free. That way, it'll be more fun with lots of people."
"Yeah," Sam agreed, and Rose nodded along. Then, with a mischievous smile, Rose added, "Or I could spend the rest of the summer watching Daniel's DVDs!" Sam groaned, "Are you crazy?"
