The New Story of Lona Falldin

Chapter 16: 16. Alice

Chapter 16

"Are you sure?" Indiana asked, a little doubtfully. "Boars are quite dangerous."

- Of course. I still think magic will help to deal with them and what's more important. They have a lot of meat, that is, with the help of the dark cauldron we will not only solve the food problems for a long time, but we will also be able to earn money. It's just too profitable. True, before we go I will need to buy a second set of clothes, and also stock up on potions for emergencies.

- Okay. I'll trust you, - the archaeologist agreed.

The trip to the local marketplace was nothing special. I just bought the cheapest clean clothes, so that in an emergency I would have something to wear while my main clothes were being washed, which cost me 7 coppers. However, I need to quickly save up for magical clothes that have purification magic. And I'm not talking about the whore's set clothes.

Anyway, after paying for the clothes, we headed to the local doctor, who can get even a half-dead person back on his feet for a fairly low fee. I have no idea how he does it, though, and I'm not sure I want to know.

Entering the local drugstore, we were greeted by a rather creepy atmosphere. In the semi-darkness behind the counter, right opposite the door, stood a short blond guy with a hood, parodying the mask of a plague doctor, although perhaps this is exactly it. His eyes were shining pink and madness literally burned in them. And believe me, the floor and walls, covered in long-dried blood, only added to the creepiness of this situation.

"Are you sure we've come to the right place?" Jones whispered in my ear, under the watchful gaze of sparkling pink eyes.

- Even though it's scary here, he's reliable. - I said, trying to add confidence to my words, but I still couldn't help but add almost inaudibly. - I hope.

Indiana clearly heard what I whispered, but I didn't stand on the threshold any longer and approached the boy.

- Welcome! You came to see my collection, right? - the guy began to press with enthusiasm, which even confused me.

- Uh... I think...

- Haha! I knew you'd be interested in seeing my collection! - the boy burst out laughing, leaning almost right up to me.

- No, no, you got it wrong! I just wanted to buy some potions! - I hastened to say.

- Ah, so that's how it is...? Oh well. - the guy became sad, and even his eyes suddenly seemed to go out and instead of pink they became red. A creepy guy, but nevertheless extremely important and useful. And according to the plot, for the fish-men he is the only hope for correcting their situation, because of which they can only have children from women of other races.

- My name is Alice and I'm a doctor! I specialize in childbirth and women's health! So, you needed the potions right?

- You keep talking about some collection. What do you collect? - Indiana asked, completely ignoring my hints that he shouldn't bring up the topic.

- Yes! Yes!!! My collection! - the boy's eyes lit up again.

"Did you know that monsters can impregnate human women with incredible ease?" Alice asked, running into the next room to grab what sounded like a few jars.

- And the children born from such copulation are so cu-e-e-e-e-e! - Having placed my load on the counter in front of us, I almost threw up in disgust. The jars contained preserved dead babies of half-humans. - Monster babies are much more interesting than human ones. Just look at how big they are!

- Alice is good! That means Alice can help with an abortion absolutely free of charge! And of course, if you plan to keep the child, Alice will help you with the birth too!

The more he talked, the more I started to feel sick and I wanted to leave this disgusting place as soon as possible, but unfortunately, only from him can you get cheap and high-quality potions.

- You look like you could definitely bring me some great specimens for my collection! - Alice winked at me. - So don't forget to come see me when you get pregnant! FREE!

For me this was already the last straw, so I told Indiana that I was leaving the rest to him, hastily left the drugstore and emptied my stomach.

- Fucking hell. And I still wanted to go to the fish-man island with him?! He's a complete psycho! - I cursed as soon as the vomiting spasms ended.

"We need to think of something else," I muttered, pulling out a waterskin from the tavern to rinse my mouth.

When I spat out the water, the door of the pharmacy opened again and Indiana came out to me.

- Are you okay? - asked the archaeologist.

- Yes, - I nodded and sighed heavily, adding, - Of course, I knew what he did besides treatment, but knowing and seeing in real life are two different things.

- I understand. To be honest, I regretted asking that question. However, he gave us a 20% discount this time, so it's not that bad. Here you go. - Jones handed me 4 vials, 2 with red liquid and 2 with blue.

- Thank you. How much do I owe? - I took the potion.

- Not at all. You do quite a lot for me as it is. And you think not only about yourself, but about the whole group, so I would be a complete asshole if I didn't do the same.

- I see... Thank you.

- You're welcome. Let's go, the boars and their meat are still waiting for us.

- Yes! - I said enthusiastically, once again ready to give it my all when hunting wild boars.
