The Necromancer is amassing troops like crazy in the apocalypse

Chapter 1083: Who Is Most Suitable for the Elder's Council?

As one and the four souls kept searching.

The effect maintained by the engraving knife gradually reached its limit.

The surrounding scene instantly shattered, and in the blink of an eye, they returned to the vividly colored, luxuriously decorated modern temple.

Wu Heng looked at the four ghosts that flew back and said, "Let's go, we'll head back first."

After speaking, he led the ghosts, respectfully saluted the divine statue again, and then turned to exit the temple.

Upon leaving the main hall, Wu Heng immediately saw Chang Bin and others retreating to a wide area at the foot of the mountain.

Everyone looked tense, holding their firearms tight, pointing towards the temple direction as if facing a major enemy.

Not until Wu Heng, unhurriedly, descended the stone steps with the ghosts did they slightly relax, though their eyes were still filled with doubt.

"Leader Wu Heng?" Chang Bin called out tentatively, with uncertainty in his voice, gesturing for his men to lower their guns, and quickly walked forward.

Wu Heng glanced at their weapons, "Why did you even bring out the heavy stuff?"

Chang Bin coughed lightly, curiously asking, "Did you… not notice anything unusual inside?"

"Unusual?"

"Just a moment ago, the entire temple's exterior suddenly changed!" Chang Bin gestured, attempting to describe the unimaginable scene, "Like those Thai horror movies, without warning, boom, it turned back into an extremely old, extremely simple shrine. We thought… some incident was going to happen again."

Wu Heng immediately understood.

Turns out, the influence of the Truth Engraving Knife wasn't limited to the inside; it even reversed the time of the external structure.

"The ancient temple you saw, anything special about it?" Wu Heng continued to ask.

Chang Bin shook his head, "Aside from being incredibly old and primitive, there was no other movement. But it was too terrifying to us, and we didn't dare approach rashly."

After speaking, he didn't forget to add, "It's good that you're okay."

Wu Heng nodded, didn't explain further, and calmly said, "Let's head back to the airport first."

Everyone boarded the convoy, and Chang Bin subtly asked several times if Wu Heng had caused the temple's changes.

But seeing Wu Heng did not have the intention to explain, he didn't pursue the matter.

The rest of the journey was mostly silent.

Upon arriving at the airport, Wu Heng didn't linger and boarded the returning flight.

On the plane.

Wu Heng sat by the window, outside the window, the earth had fallen into a silent darkness.

Only the recently departed airport still glimmered with scattered lights, but as the flying altitude increased, that bit of light was quickly swallowed by boundless night.

For the vast majority of survivor bases, electricity remained an extremely scarce resource.

Retracting his gaze, he leaned back in the seat, organizing the findings from this Nuwa Temple journey.

The power of the Truth Engraving Knife far exceeded expectations.

Previously, he hadn't thought it could be used this way, to restore a building to its state thousands of years ago in a short time, allowing him to see those murals covered by renovations.

Though he hadn't directly found the opponent's divine method, or the lost Divine Artifact.

Yet, the murals still provided a lot of information.

The image of Divine Spirits under mortals' pen is majestic and grand, standing tall above the stars.

And when breaking through the Hero Stage, the celestial phenomenon is the falling starlight.

Becoming a Hero, means breaking the shackles of rules; normal attacks cannot kill a Hero.

And Divine Spirits at star level, does it represent surpassing Heroes, crossing over to a stronger existence of a certain life level?

Or does it mean simply living in the sky?

Living in the sky seems unlikely; haven't I launched satellites up there?

And after Nuwa Mending the Sky, she disappeared from the murals, perhaps it also implies that... Divine Spirits can also fall?

Since they can die, it means there's a way to kill them.

"Still thinking about the temple matter?" Glenda's voice softly came from the side.

"Yes, this trip didn't have the 'substantial gains' we initially hoped for." Wu Heng had a hint of regret in his tone.

Glenda floated closer, analyzing rationally, "Perhaps one shouldn't expect too much; thousands of years have passed, and it's in your world's realm. Even if there's any inheritance or Special Item, it's likely been deemed some weird thing and destroyed. The side effects of Special Items aren't something ordinary people can bear."

"I understand, just feels a bit unfortunate."

"It's not like there's no harvest." Glenda comforted, "The murals confirmed many of our previous speculations. Moreover, you're only a step away from breaking through to the Hero Stage, take your time, no rush."

Wu Heng nodded.

The plane landed smoothly at Xinfu City Airport.

Just as he walked out the cabin door, he saw Li Yahong leaning on an off-road vehicle, waving at him.

"Over here!"

Wu Heng smiled, opened the car door, and sat in the passenger seat. Li Yahong efficiently started the car, driving towards the city center.

"Did you find anything on this trip?" Li Yahong asked casually as she drove.

"Some things, but not as significant as imagined." Wu Heng smiled.

"The base has been developing better and better lately, whatever you're searching for, I'll help you find it." Li Yahong smiled and said.

Although not knowing exactly what Wu Heng was looking for, the current situation is indeed improving.

She felt there was no need to rush.

"Yes!" Wu Heng nodded.

Even if the Otherworld truly poses a danger, as long as he protects this world's secrets, it's a fallback option.

At worst, he'll hide here, waiting for his breakthrough to Hero.

Thinking this way, he didn't care much about not having tangible gains this time.

No matter what, he'll be able to steadily break through to Hero.

"It's so late, going back to the prison area?" Li Yahong glanced at him.

"Let's go to your place, I'll return tomorrow."
