Chapter 1082: Ancient Murals
"Alright, I'll get ready now," responded Li Yahong briskly, and then asked, "Do we need to bring anything else?"
Wu Heng pondered briefly and replied, "No, just the plane will suffice."
"Got it! I'll arrange it right away, just come over directly."
Ending the call, Wu Heng put his phone back in his pocket and glanced back.
The four Ghosts were manipulating puppets, each holding a phone, engrossed in browsing forums.
Occasionally, they would huddle together to discuss quietly or ask Xiao Xiao about the meaning of some modern terms.
After this period of adaptation, Lady had mostly learned the language of this world, at least enough to browse forums independently.
"Time to go, continue on the way," Wu Heng said as he turned around.
Four pairs of eyes looked at him simultaneously, with Xiao Xiao speaking up first, "Are we going to see mom?"
Wu Heng put on his coat, adjusting the collar as he replied, "Li Yahong said a Nuwa Temple has been discovered, possibly an ancient relic of worship, we're going to check it out first, then we'll visit your mom."
"Oh! It's a real adventure, that's great!" Xiao Xiao said joyfully.
The other three Ghosts nodded in agreement.
The group went downstairs to board a jeep, heading towards Xinfu City airport.
Upon arrival at the airport, the Skeleton driver was already waiting. Wu Heng and the Ghosts boarded the plane and continued to their destination.
...
The plane slowly landed at the destination airport.
As soon as they stepped down the gangway, several staff members approached. The leading middle-aged man extended his hand to Wu Heng, speaking respectfully, "Chang Bin, airport manager. Welcome, King Yama."
Wu Heng smiled slightly, "No need for formality, just call me by my name."
"Would you like to rest for a bit, or depart immediately? The convoy is already prepared." Chang Bin maintained his respectful demeanor.
Wu Heng's current status is more than just Yama Hall.
Now he's the human leader, with Spirit Awakening Sect being the only sect recognized by the Dawn Alliance.
Not merely a leader of a typical base.
"I can go myself," Wu Heng said as he headed toward the exit.
Chang Bin followed beside him, gently saying, "This terrain is complex, without local guidance it's hard to traverse."
Wu Heng raised an eyebrow, suggesting the road ahead might be challenging.
"In that case, please lead the way, let's go now."
"Follow me, please," Chang Bin gestured, leading the way, the two walked out of the airport.
The convoy slowly started, driving towards the distant mountains.
...
After getting off the car, they found themselves in an area developed into a tourist attraction.
The cobblestone path meandered ahead, flanked by tall ancient trees, with grass taller than a person.
Chang Bin guided the way while introducing to Wu Heng, "According to local legends, Nuwa was born here. Before the End of the World, thousands of visitors and believers would come to pilgrimage annually, the incense was strong, extremely lively."
Wu Heng nodded slightly, quietly listening to his story.
Unlike other tourist areas, people here firmly believed in Nuwa's existence, annually holding grand sacrificial ceremonies, continuing some faith traditions.
Once, while browsing videos, you could see corresponding footage.
To them, this temple is not just a sightseeing spot, but a sacred site of worship.
They proceeded toward the main hall, an elegantly carved and impressively grand classical building.
Chang Bin stopped before the hall and respectfully said, "Please enter, we won't accompany you, if you need anything, feel free to contact us."
"Alright," Wu Heng nodded, entering the hall alone.
The hall's surroundings were painted with colorful frescoes depicting Nuwa mending the sky and creating humans, with a majestic statue of Nuwa at the center, luxurious and breezy dressed, yet different from the image of the Ancient God Wu Heng had in mind.
Lady floated beside him, softly saying, "The Nuwa statue sculpted in your era is quite different from the one we knew."
Wu Heng mused, "After thousands of years, it's fortunate enough to be passed down."
"You're right," Lady nodded slightly.
Wu Heng first paid homage to the statue, followed by each of the four Ghosts.
Lady performed an ancient Heaven Fox Clan's worship ritual, Glenda an elegant lady's salute, Bella bowed deeply, while Xiao Xiao gave a proper Young Pioneer's salute.
One person, four Souls, five different rituals.
It looked a bit chaotic.
After the rituals, Wu Heng whispered, "Examine the area carefully for any unusual objects, secret rooms, or ancient records."
"Alright!" The Ghosts dispersed in response, searching individually.
Wu Heng also strode around, inspecting the frescoes and beams, attempting to capture any clues possibly linking the two worlds.
However, the grand hall before him, truly was just a tourist spot.
Focusing on splendid aesthetics, it preserved none of the information he needed.
Soon, four Specters gathered back around him.
Glenda spoke first, "The side halls are also just sightseeing spots, there's nothing preserved."
Bella added, "I checked what you mentioned as secret rooms, unless you mean a storeroom filled with clutter, there's no hidden space here."
Then, Xiao Xiao and Lady shared their findings as well, in short, not much had been discovered.
Wu Heng furrowed his brow.
In a small voice, Xiao Xiao asked, "Did we come for nothing...?"
"Not entirely," Bella smiled, comforting, "Just consider it a visit, the atmosphere here is nice."
Wu Heng remained somewhat persistent, frowning as he looked at the painted dome and walls.
Glenda floated over, softly saying, "It's alright, just think of it as bringing Xiao Xiao for fun."
