The Most Satisfied Reincarnate

Chapter 372: A Reply of Gratitude

"Greetings," Desmond's voice resounded as he stood in front of his grand mansion. A gathering of people had formed, consisting of Felix, his loyal subordinates, and even the girls. This was an unusual sight for Desmond, as he had only called them together before when embarking on hunting expeditions.

"Before we delve into the main topic, there are some shocking revelations I need to share with you all," Desmond began, stealing a quick glance at the curious gazes of the girls. His attention then shifted to Felix, who had approached him and now stood at his side.

As every eye focused on Felix, the men seemed to have an inkling of what their master intended to reveal. The girls, however, remained in a state of contemplation, their gazes darting between Desmond and Felix.

*Crack.* A distinct sound cracked through the air, emanating from Felix's body. Suddenly, he began to bulge, tearing his clothes apart to expose green-colored scales that covered his skin. In a grim display, blood splattered onto the floor as Felix's shoulder opened up, revealing a rough structure of wing bones forming amidst the torn flesh.

"Hiss!" Shelty, overwhelmed with horror, was the first among the girls to react. A gasp escaped her lips as she beheld Felix's condition, her eyes welling up with tears and her hands trembling. She couldn't help but notice the agony etched onto Felix's face.

The scene before Shelty was too cruel to bear, causing her eyes to search frantically for solace among the girls. Yet, amidst her search, she discovered her young lady, who remained surprisingly calm amidst the turmoil.

....

*ROAR!* With the transformation complete, Felix's human form had vanished, replaced by a towering 5-meter (16 ft) Flying Lizard beast. It gazed down upon the onlookers with its slitted eyes and long, menacing beak.

His once human foot had now transformed into a set of strong, sharp, and scaly orange talons, with razor-sharp claws adorning each toe. Yet, the scales on his legs felt softer in comparison to the armor-like scales that covered the rest of his monstrous body.

Witnessing Felix's astonishing metamorphosis, Ken and the other men beamed with amazement, marveling at how resplendent he had become. Though they too possessed the ability to partially transform into beasts, they retained some remnants of their human forms.

"Cease!" Desmond's command abruptly cut through their awe. Raising his hands and pointing his palms towards his maids, the men blinked in surprise to find one of the girls missing.

Simultaneously, a wave of intense heat washed over some of the men, causing them to turn their heads to the side. To their astonishment, they discovered numerous hovering magic circles behind Laura, each radiating a condensed fire. Laura's mouth moved in a flurry of incantations, her intent clear—to unleash another spell.

Meanwhile, Annie positioned herself atop Felix's colossal neck, her limbs ablaze with a crimson hue brought forth by her swordsman skills. She brandished her daggers, poised to strike at Felix's eyes at a moment's notice. Shelty, on the other hand, encased Desmond and the other girls within a protective barrier.

Amidst the chaos, only his sister, Alice, remained composed, her unwavering gaze fixed upon him. She had borne witness to the entire process of Felix's monstrous transformation. The girls' swift reactions left the men dumbfounded, and even Desmond found himself astounded by their unwavering protectiveness.

"No need for an attack," Desmond's voice resonated with calm authority as he placed his hand upon Felix's massive

head, the beast obediently lowering its colossal form. "As you can see, Felix has assumed a beastly form, but fear not, he is still our loyal Felix."

Desmond shook his head, glancing at his sister, realizing that she had either kept the girls in the dark about Felix's transformation or that they had refrained from prying into the situation with his subordinates.

"Young master, please accept our apologies," the maids spoke in unison, following their young master's command. Annie resumed her original position, while Laura and Shelty ceased their incantations.

However, despite obeying his words, the maids couldn't help but regard Felix with a mix of fear and wariness. Annie, too, kept her daggers poised behind her palm, ready to defend her young master in case the beast posed a threat.

"Return to your human form, Felix," Desmond commanded, waiting patiently as Felix transformed back and took a moment to dress before they delved into the main topic of discussion.

...

"Ken, gather five men and kidnap more than ten villagers," Desmond uttered, shocking his subordinates to the core. They stared at him, their eyes filled with disbelief and confusion, desperately hoping that their master was merely jesting. The weight of his words seemed unfathomable, leaving them questioning if they had misheard him.

Only after a few moments of processing the gravity of their master's request did they realize he was serious. While their master had engaged in sinister acts in the past, there had always been reasons behind his actions that justified their purpose. However, as they contemplated the innocent lives they were being asked to harm, doubts crept into their hearts.

They didn't wish to become villains, even if their lives and purpose were intertwined with serving him and his family.

Among the men, only Ken silently nodded, acknowledging his master's command, without questioning it or seeking the opinion of his comrades. He half-kneeled briefly before proceeding to select a group of men to accompany him.

"Y-young master, b-but, wh-why? Is there a specific reason for causing harm to those villagers?" One man stammered, snapping and challenging Desmond's words. The rest of the subordinates regarded him with mixed emotions. The speaking man scanned the crowd, realizing that the girls, Ken, and Felix seemed unaffected by the request.

Though he was merely twenty-seven years old, his face bore the weight of numerous wrinkles, reminiscent of an old man. While he had lost his wife, child, and other loved ones to the despicable actions of the evil organization, he pondered the distinction between himself and them. If he were to commit the same acts, what would set him apart from those he despised?

Despite owing Desmond his life, he felt compelled to clarify and challenge this inhumane line of thinking. The memory of being forced into a monstrous existence lingered in his mind, along with the presence of another personality residing within him.

...

Desmond glanced at the man, opting not to employ the power of his blood or exert pressure on him. Instead, he regarded him with the same intensity one might give an innocent child.

"Young master, allow me," Felix whispered to Desmond, swiftly stepping forward to address the questioning man. After a series of heated debates, the man abruptly pushed Felix aside, capturing the attention of the rest of the group.

"Kael, please, stop!" Felix shouted, but his plea fell on deaf ears as Kael, the man who had challenged Desmond's command, continued to voice his dissent.

"Fellow comrades, do you agree with my words? We know the pain of losing our families, but now our master wishes for us to commit the same heinous acts as those vile bastards who destroyed our lives! Are we willing to stoop to their level?"

Kael stood defiantly across from Desmond, his voice resonating with conviction as he urged the other men to reconsider their decision.

"Please, young master, think about your choice. I am indebted to you for saving my life, but I cannot bear to harm innocent people with my own hands and power," another man stepped forward, pleading before Desmond.

The girls furrowed their brows in concern, even Shelty, known for her pure-hearted nature, wore an unpleased expression. Meanwhile, Alice cast a disdainful gaze upon the men and let out a derisive snort. "Do you truly believe you have a choice?"

Unlike these individuals, her brother had instilled in her the principles of justice and the importance of loyalty from a young age. Witnessing anyone daring to challenge her brother's commands repulsed her, almost making her physically ill.

"These people lack gratitude!" she thought, her mind contrasting them with the loyal subordinates of their family. She knew that their own subordinates would follow their master's orders without hesitation, even if it meant descending into hell itself.

Desmond turned his attention back to the man who had spoken up, addressing him directly. "Is this solely your personal decision, or does it represent the sentiments of everyone here?" He scanned the faces of the men standing behind him.

Kael, standing defiantly, glared at Desmond as if silently demanding that he agree with his stance. However, Desmond detected a flicker of guilt in his eyes, as if he was being compelled to act against his own will.

It appears that this sentiment comes from his heart. He is like that child, Clark, who couldn't bring himself to stoop to the level of those villains. While lacking unwavering resolve, he possesses unwavering loyalty.

Although this man is exceptional in an army or when assigned to the right task, it is unfortunate that his nature doesn't align with my methods, Desmond mused after studying Kael for a moment.

"I will ask once more, are you truly certain about this decision, even after I have fulfilled your thirst for revenge and provided you with a place to call home and friends?" Desmond gazed at his subordinates, who displayed a complex array of emotions upon hearing his words.
