The Most Satisfied Reincarnate

Chapter 274: Energy Blast(1)

While waiting for the guards to arrive, Desmond took a seat in the center and accessed the system.

"Scan all the malicious intentions directed towards me in this city and mark them on the map," he commanded.

[WARNING!! The coverage area is extensive, and the variable is imprecise. It might require more energy than usual. Are you certain?]

Upon reading this information, Desmond displayed no surprise; it seemed as if he had anticipated it. "How much?" he inquired.

[Calculating the cost...]

[Energy required: -45.00]

Desmond's reply came, his face subtly paling as he gazed upon the staggering amount of energy required by the system. A wave of sheer energy surged forth from his being, causing Laura, who could bear witness to the spectacle, to be seized by shock and fear simultaneously. Concerned and eager to assist, she moved to intervene, but Desmond gestured for her to hold back.

His once vibrant complexion now grew pallid, and his trembling hands betrayed his distress. Only Annie remained oblivious to his subtle actions.

In the realm of humans, energy was an inherent birthright. Normal individuals possessed the ability to perceive and engage with this energy, be it through meditation or the casting of spells. However, such capabilities were restricted to conscious observation or deliberate attempts to connect with it.

Wizards and Witches, on the other hand, possessed an uncanny sensitivity that allowed them to instinctively detect any anomalous fluctuations of energy in their surroundings.

As for swordsmen, their rigorous training caused their bodies to grow desensitized, almost numbed to the ethereal realm. While they might have lost their natural aptitude for sensing energy, they retained a keen awareness of its peculiar shifts when in proximity to its source, such as during meditation or the casting of spells.

This was precisely why individuals with Dual-class abilities were a rarity—almost defying the laws governing energy within the human body. Achieving such a feat demanded unwavering dedication, as one had to simultaneously refine both their physical prowess and their magical aptitude.

Progress for those with Dual-class abilities unfolded at a more gradual pace compared to that of typical Witches, Wizards, or Swordsmen.

Despite being regular people, the maids serving Desmond felt an elusive strangeness tugging at their senses, accompanied by the sight of copious amounts of energy spilling forth from their young master's body. Their collective breath hitched, causing them to collapse to their knees. "Yo-young master, wha-what has befallen you?" they stammered, their voices trembling with worry.

After a few fleeting moments, the system succeeded in siphoning off half of Desmond's energy, before dispersing in all directions. Laura, who stood by his side, stood stupefied and rendered speechless, her eyes locked on the ethereal stream that departed from her young master's body, seemingly endowed with a consciousness of its own.

The released energy began to reach out to everyone nearby, leaving many Wizards and Witches slightly taken aback by the natural energy's attempts to establish a connection. However, not everyone regarded this occurrence with curiosity. A few Wizards and Witches furrowed their brows, casting wary glances at this untamed energy.

Beyond the castle walls, a married couple named Elizabeth noticed this peculiar phenomenon, an unwelcome disruption to their tranquil existence. "Did you sense that, my love?" inquired the husband, his countenance filled with concern. As the ruler of the city, any challenge to his authority was met with immediate apprehension.

His wife's expression darkened upon detecting the anomaly, her gaze fixated on the outside world, yet unable to discern the source of the disturbance. "We must address this swiftly. I fear it may be a plot to abduct Her Highness," she murmured to her husband, her eyes surreptitiously darting towards Elizabeth, who was engaged in conversation with their daughter.

"You're right, it must be the work of that villain!" The husband's stern expression solidified. Unlike his wife, he was merely a swordsman, but even so, he possessed the discernment to recognize this unusual event as a threat to ordinary citizens.

As if confirming his suspicions, cries of distress echoed throughout the city, emanating predominantly from the Residential District. Countless children wept inconsolably, seemingly terrified by an unseen presence that had materialized before their eyes.

The gravity of the situation was not lost on Princess Elizabeth, her lovely brows furrowing as she surveyed the distressed faces of the people below. Positioned atop the city's highest vantage point, she had an unobstructed view of countless individuals weeping, while others lay unconscious on the ground.

Concern etched on her face, Elizabeth turned to her uncle, seeking answers. "What is happening, Uncle?" she inquired, her worry evident. Were it not for the fact that this city fell under her uncle's jurisdiction, she would have rushed into the throng, eager to provide aid and healing.

Sitting beside her, Gabriela couldn't help but furrow her own brow as she observed the distressing scene. She glanced at her parents, noting the unease etched upon their faces. With a sense of urgency, she hastily spoke up, hoping to shed some light on the situation. "It's possible that something terrible has occurred, Eliz.

You might not be aware, but there exists an evil organization within this city." Her words brought a sigh of relief from her parents.

"Disgusting trickery," Clark interjected, his eyes fixed on the perplexing phenomenon unfolding before them. "Remain calm, Eliz. I shall always protect you and stand by your side." His focus shifted from the distress in the city to the unwavering commitment he felt towards Elizabeth's well-being.

Clark surveyed the chaos unfolding below, his concern mirroring Elizabeth's. All he ever wanted was a peaceful life alongside his parents and Elizabeth, yet one problem after another seemed to arise, from the conflicts with Matson to the current enigma.

A resolve began to solidify within him. "I must eradicate the evil in this world," Clark pondered, his thoughts briefly interrupted as memories of the siblings' tormented faces flooded his mind. "I will assist you when I find the opportunity," he silently vowed.

In that moment, his mind wandered to the suffering endured by Alice at the hands of Desmond's cruelty. Clark could sense the darkness that resided within Desmond—an evil akin to the villains he encountered in his previous world. "They deserve punishment! My purpose in this world is to save it from wicked individuals," he thought, pausing momentarily before pulling Elizabeth into a protective embrace.

He regarded himself as a chosen instrument of the gods, his previous life as a bullied NEET otaku fading into insignificance. Now, he had the chance to become a hero, saving both beautiful souls and the world itself from peril.

Unfazed by the self-proclaimed "white knight," the husband and wife exchanged wry smiles, excusing themselves from the presence of Elizabeth and Gabriela to confront and quell the burgeoning crisis.
