The Most Random System

I haven't driven before, and given the differences between the two worlds, I must learn first.

"Okay." Ye Jing nodded and immediately went to the passenger seat to start instructing: "Your left foot is..."

When the car zoomed off, Ye Jing fastened her seatbelt.

Lin Li drove the heavy pickup truck, swaying left and right on the road, charging recklessly.

And in doing so, knocked over quite a few zombies.

Half an hour later.

"Driving is quite fun." Lin Li said with a smile.

"But riding is not so fun." Ye Jing, looking pale beside him, disagreed.

Lin Li smiled; actually, Ye Jing needn't worry. Thanks to his potential comprehension and Mecha index, even though this world's vehicles were quite different from modern ones, he quickly got the hang of it.

If not for the performance limitations of the modified pickup, Lin Li thought he could perform some complex maneuvers.

There was some deliberate speeding later on.

Having learned to drive, before Shi Dongchen returned, Lin Li found a room with a bed nearby and started exercising with Beauty.

After finishing the exercise, even after Lin Li quietly walked two miles away, the task was still not completed.

But earlier, he had said to the air that this was Beauty's new home.

It seemed the system didn't acknowledge it.

It seemed he still had to rely on Shi Dongchen's side.

Over an hour later, Shi Dongchen and Hu Fei drove back.

"Is everything done?" Lin Li asked.

"Yes, the contract was made in triplicate. We brought one for you. You can take a look, and if there's anything you want to change, we can do it now." Shi Dongchen nodded and handed a stack of papers to Lin Li.

It was even printed out, but the ink was a bit uneven; it seemed the toner quality was poor.

Usually, contracts have many pitfalls, but this one had none, with all clauses favoring the buyer: Beauty.

Seeing the skull blood-handprint on the last page, Lin Li nodded and, after tossing the recently found bed onto a pickup truck, spoke:

"Then let's go. Now let's set off for your refuge. The three of you take one car to lead the way, and Beauty and I will follow in another."

"Okay."

The group set out, but since many zombies were disturbed along the way, the speed wasn't fast.

No wonder the driving time needed for a round trip was almost the same as Ye Jing's 'walking' round trip.

Over forty minutes later, they finally arrived outside what they called their community.

The rusted iron gate was sealed with heavy chains, vines drilled through cracks in the wall, climbing the mottled surfaces like green veins, and the buildings were much more intact than the area Lin Li came from, but they could still be described as dilapidated.

The ground indeed seemed uninhabited.

After first helping Hu Fei deal with the trailing zombies, Lin Li dragged Beauty along with them through a concealed tunnel outside the community.

"Is this light specifically for me?" Lin Li pointed to the lighting in the narrow passage.

The light didn't match the surroundings, seeming temporarily placed.

"Yes." Shi Dongchen nodded.

The path was initially extremely narrow, barely allowing a person through, continuing for several tens of steps, still only allowing a person through, and at the end, still only accommodating one person.

And there were already traces of habitation.

Making Lin Li live in this place, if he got up to find Doom mid-night from feeling alive enough, hit his head on the ceiling and fainted, even dying would be hard.

"We will definitely follow your will." Upon hearing this, Shi Dongchen nodded immediately.

Originally planning to say something more, he immediately signaled Ye Jing and Hu Fei not to follow, allowing Lin Li and Beauty to enter the room alone.

The room was neatly arranged—at least much cleaner compared to outside and even had a seemingly soft bed.

It seemed unnecessary to bring inside the bed he had previously gathered in case the refuge didn't have a decent one.

He pulled the curtain closed.

Lin Li, as before, began the final bed exercise, doing it half longer than the task-recognized time last time.

Thus, bed exercise completed.

Spreading Beauty flat on the ground in a sleeping posture, Lin Li placed all the clothing he collected from the hospital on her, lighting it with a lighter.

Stayed for a moment, should be cooked now.

Thus, deep sleep completed.

Covering Beauty with a blanket, extinguishing the sparks on her body, tucking her in, Lin Li left the room without a word, leaving the refuge in silence amidst more survivors' gazes.

Under the watchful eyes of the entrance guards, Lin Li opened the tunnel's exit, stepping out to the surface.
