The Most Powerful Wealth System

Chapter 92: 92. Hunting competition

Riki was forced to wake up when he heard Nicho shouting. He grabbed his smartphone and saw that it was still around ten in the morning.

Riki sat up and looked at the wide-open window next to him.

The breeze blew gently, bringing coolness in the midst of the scorching sun.

At that time, Riki was sleeping on a bed in a tree house. He had deliberately opened all the windows wide to let the wind in, because the cool breeze lulled him to sleep.

Riki stretched for a moment, then left the tree house, descending the spiral wooden stairs to the bottom of the big tree.

Kaivan, Zeno, and Nicho were below, lighting a campfire that could be covered and used for roasting something. However, there was another group of people with them.

Riki didn't recognize these people, but it looked like they were giving something. Maybe that was what made Nicho scream earlier.

When Riki approached, the people left, seemingly embarrassed by Riki's presence.

"What's going on?" asked Riki, who immediately sat down among them.

"They gave us meat to roast, skewered on bamboo sticks, which looked like regular satay to us. Then when Nicho asked what kind of meat it was, they said it was a snake. You know, the kind that lives in fresh water and doesn't have venom, and has a fat body? We were all shocked, but Nicho yelled, so they apologized and left after all their meat was grilled. We didn't ask for any because we were still worried," Zeno explained.

Kaivan and Nicho shuddered in horror, looking a little traumatized, but Riki just laughed out loud.

Riki himself knew that water snakes were eaten by some people, even though Riki himself didn't dare to try it. He just found it funny to see Kaivan, who usually ate anything, suddenly afraid to eat something.

"I can't believe Kaivan is afraid to eat something," said Riki, after he stopped laughing.

"I can be picky about food too, you know!" Kaivan replied irritably, which made Riki laugh again, but this time Zeno laughed too.

"But if you cooked it, maybe he would eat it without thinking twice," replied Zeno.

"No, I have a trauma with snakes like that. It's not that I'm afraid, it's just that I will never eat them," said Riki.

Kaivan laughed, "Just admit you're scared, Riki..."

Riki cleared his throat for a moment, then said, "I'm not scared."

"Since we're near the forest, and there are lots of trees and plants here, there must be snakes too, right? Then, I heard there's a lake here too, do you think there are water snakes there?" asked Nicho.

Kaivan nudged Nicho's ribs and said, "You're curious to eat it, aren't you?"

"No!" Nicho replied firmly, shuddering slightly at the thought of eating snake.

"By the way, what are you guys making?" asked Riki, looking at the grill in front of him.

The grill, which had just been cleaned by Zeno because he didn't want any snake meat left on it, now had thin slices of meat placed on it by Kaivan.

"This is the best quality beef. We actually wanted to make hotpot this afternoon, but Nicho said that since we haven't eaten anything this morning, it's better not to make hotpot. So we'll grill some of the meat like this, then make hotpot," said Kaivan.

Riki nodded in understanding. He just watched his friends eat meat and bread that afternoon.

For some reason, it looked sad to him, so he took the initiative to make something in the cottage.

Riki just remembered that they didn't have many ingredients to cook with. However, Riki still had the purple taro he had brought with him and the red avocados that Riki had stored in the storage system.

Riki just made taro and banana compote. He cut the taro and bananas into small squares, then cooked them together with coconut milk, added sugar to taste, put in a pandan leaf, and stirred until it boiled.

He didn't forget to make avocado juice because he had started to really like it.

"Are you making dessert, Riki?" asked Zeno.

Riki nodded, "Yup! I think it will be very refreshing to eat here. If you don't like it warm, you can add ice cubes," said Riki.

[Your first mission today is to hunt in the forest and win the hunting competition]

[This is a mandatory mission, although there are no penalties]

[If you succeed, you will get an increase in magical power]

Riki furrowed his brow, not understanding why the reward was related to magic.

Because he lived in the modern world, he thought magic was completely unnecessary. However, since Riki intended to visit Arendale often, he thought he might need it later. Riki also had water magic as a gift from the system. Since Riki's magical power was still small, he could only use a little water magic. Even though Riki's magical energy was already very large, if his magical power was small, it was useless.

"I'll eat it warm," said Zeno, who had already taken a small bowl and spoon.

At that moment, Zeno saw Riki pour the blended avocado juice into a glass that Riki had already added chocolate to.

"What are you making? Make some for me too!" asked Zeno.

Riki taught Zeno how to make avocado juice, and Zeno looked very happy.

In the end, the four of them ate taro and banana compote with avocado juice on the balcony of the tree house. From there, they could see the beautiful view of the forest and hills.

"Did you guys know there's a hunting competition here?" asked Riki.

"It starts around two in the afternoon. Do you want to join? Because I might join," replied Kaivan.

Riki nodded, "I'll join! But before that, please explain the rules, because this is my first time participating in something like this."

Kaivan nodded, then explained everything to Riki.

The hunting competition was usually held twice a year, at the beginning of the year and in the middle of the year.

The rules were quite simple: they were only allowed to hunt properly without damaging the forest ecosystem. Weapons such as knives, rifles, or bows and arrows were allowed. What was not allowed were things like bombs or electric shocks. More importantly, hunters had to be fully prepared for the hunt so that if anything happened in the forest, they could handle it.

According to Kaivan, the hunting competition was usually attended by rich people who liked to show off.

No wonder all the places in Natura were fully booked at that time. Only the best one was left for Kaivan, as the grandson of the owner of the place.

The tenants around there also seemed to be wealthy people. So, it was certain that those who rented there were indeed preparing to hunt.

Kaivan himself had been invited by his grandfather to participate, because Kaivan's grandfather wanted to show off that he had a strong and tough grandson. But Kaivan had refused, even so, his grandfather still provided the best cottage.

As it turned out, Riki suddenly wanted to go to a pleasant place far from the noise of the city, so Kaivan decided to join the hunting competition.

Around one in the afternoon, Riki and Kaivan were ready, with the best clothes and equipment for hunting. Zeno and Nicho also came along, but they were only going to take them to the competition, then walk around there while Kaivan and Riki went into the forest.

"This is my grandson, Kaivan!" said Kaivan's grandfather, as soon as Kaivan approached him.

Riki didn't pay much attention to them because he was examining his surroundings with his detection skill.

Since Riki's detection skill had been upgraded, now when he activated it, he could see everything around him. Especially the names of plants and animals, as well as their complete information. Whether a plant was safe to eat or not, whether it had any benefits or not.

Riki could even see deep into the forest, and he was happy to find that there were many animals to hunt.

However, the rules of the competition at that time were that they had to hunt the biggest deer. There were many deer in the forest, so many that even if all the participants got one each, there would still be plenty left.

Another new rule was that they could only hunt one deer, and they couldn't hunt pregnant deer or fawns.

[Your second mission today is—]

Wait a minute!

Riki had just arrived at the competition site!

[—to prevent the murder of a top young model and influencer named Ellaine]

[Ellaine will be killed by someone while hunting, and this murder is still connected to Jack Handerson]

Suddenly, Riki felt his head throbbing at the thought of his second mission.

[Don't worry, you will receive a reward of 20 million dollars if you complete this mission successfully]

[Good luck!]

"Kaivan, let me introduce you to my friend's granddaughter, Ellaine. She also likes hunting and is as skilled with a bow and arrow as you are," said Kaivan's grandfather.

Riki reflexively looked at the girl.

She was a girl whose beauty seemed unreal. With porcelain-smooth white skin, greenish-hazel eyes with long eyelashes, red heart-shaped lips, and naturally rosy cheeks.

She was very beautiful, with jet black wavy hair.

Ellaine stood out, not because she was the only girl. In fact, there were many girls participating in the hunting competition, but Ellaine chose to wear pastel pink hunting clothes. The others were competing in dark-colored hunting clothes.

Riki admitted she was beautiful, even though he couldn't like her romantically.

Next to Ellaine was a woman who looked tough, smiling kindly but with sly eyes.

Riki quickly realized that this woman was the killer the system was referring to.

Funnily enough, Riki recognized her.

Kaivan suddenly dragged Riki closer to him.

"I'm going hunting with Riki, Grandpa, so I can't ride with Ellaine," said Kaivan.

Riki, confused because he hadn't been listening to their conversation, just smiled.
