The Most Famous Actor in Hollywood

Chapter 383: Chapter 383: My Favorite

"What's going on?"

Kara Knightley looked curiously toward the open door of Depp's room, Matthew also stopped and looked in that direction, asking, "Kara, that wasn't Depp just now, right?"

"It looked like someone dressed as Jack Sparrow."

The person who had turned into the hallway first was Kara Knightley, and she had a clearer view than Matthew. "Depp had already taken off his makeup."

Matthew heard the parrot's call again, sensing something was wrong, and quickly said, "Kara, go notify the hotel or call the police, I'll go in and check."

"Okay." Kara Knightley nodded quickly, pulling out her phone.

First looking into the open room, and seeing no one, Matthew stepped inside. Then the parrot's call sounded again, and he followed the sound toward Johnny Depp's bedroom.

The bedroom door was also open, and Matthew took a few steps forward, immediately seeing through the open door a person dressed as Jack Sparrow standing on the bedroom carpet, with Johnny Depp, wearing a loose robe, standing opposite Jack Sparrow.

Matthew breathed a sigh of relief, guessing it might be a fanatical fan of Jack Sparrow who sneaked into the hotel to see his idol in secret. If that was the case, Johnny Depp probably wasn't in any danger, as extreme fans were rare these days.

Just then, the parrot's call sounded again.

Following the call, Matthew noticed that on the left shoulder of the person dressed as Jack Sparrow, there was a toy parrot tied. Whenever he squeezed it with his left hand, it would make a sound very similar to a parrot's call.

"Hey, buddy..."

After the parrot's call, Johnny Depp's voice came out, "Can you put away the knife first?"

Knife?

Hearing this, Matthew quickly changed his angle. Jack Sparrow had been facing away from him, with a bright, sharp-looking knife in his right hand, hidden by his body.

Matthew's eyelids twitched, and he looked back toward the door, unsure if Kara Knightley had made the call.

"You, Johnny Depp!" The rough English accent was unmistakably Jack Sparrow's voice. "My favorite, I super love your pirate."

Matthew tiptoed closer to the bedroom, his footsteps silent on the soft carpet.

Johnny Depp was also trying to negotiate with the man dressed as Jack Sparrow, "Thank you, thank you for liking my character."

The awkward English came again, "You, take off your clothes!"

Hearing this, Matthew almost laughed out loud. Was this Jack Sparrow here to rob him of his looks?

But considering again, the flamboyantly effeminate and charming character of Jack Sparrow on screen was certainly the darling of some with special tastes.

Jack Sparrow brandished the shiny knife, and Johnny Depp took a step back.

"Quick!" the man exclaimed again, "Take off your clothes."

Matthew took advantage of Jack Sparrow's focus on Depp, and slipped into the bedroom. Jack Sparrow, his back to the door, had not noticed him, but Johnny Depp, facing this way, had seen Matthew come in.

Without making a sound, Johnny Depp took another step back, quietly increasing the distance between him and Jack Sparrow.

Seeing Johnny Depp's hand on his robe, the man dressed as Jack Sparrow stood still, seemingly completely captivated by Johnny Depp.

Matthew advanced a few steps, gradually approaching Jack Sparrow, now at an optimal distance to intervene. Jack Sparrow, sensing something, suddenly turned around.

But before Jack Sparrow could react, Matthew had grabbed the hand holding the knife, twisting forcefully. Jack Sparrow screamed in pain, the knife falling onto the thick carpet, and with a kick from Matthew, he could no longer stand and fell with a thud.

Matthew kicked the knife away, noticing its weight was off but not dwelling on it, his knee pinning Jack Sparrow's back, twisting his arms behind him, pressing him flat on the floor, immobilized.

"Depp!" Matthew called out to the still-stunned Johnny Depp, "Find something to tie him up with!"

On the floor, Jack Sparrow tried to struggle, but under Matthew's restraint, he was completely immobilized.

"Will this work?" Johnny Depp pulled the tie from his robe's waist.

Matthew glanced at it, "That'll work."

He took the tie from Depp and quickly secured Jack Sparrow's hands behind his back. Depp then brought over a belt, and Matthew used it to bind Jack Sparrow's feet.

"Let me go!" Jack Sparrow yelled out, "Let me go!"

Matthew ignored him and went to inspect the kicked-away knife, only then realizing it seemed to be a prop knife made of aluminum alloy, similar to those used by the crew.

However, the knife, being metallic and

 sharpened, could definitely puncture someone.

"Are you alright?" Matthew turned to check on Johnny Depp.

"I'm fine." Johnny Depp was pale, clearly shaken, and patted his chest, "Thank goodness you were on time, otherwise I would have been in trouble."

He turned to look at Jack Sparrow on the floor, disregarding the man's screams, then said to Matthew, "The world has gone mad!"

Matthew shook his head, "As long as you're alright."

With no injuries, that was what mattered most. If Depp had been harmed by Jack Sparrow, that would have been real trouble.

Having been pampered for years, Depp was shaken by the incident and, lacking a better idea, relied on Matthew, asking, "Should we call the police?"

Matthew remembered Kara Knightley outside the door, "I already asked Kara to notify the hotel, she might have called the police too."

As he spoke, rapid footsteps approached the suite door, followed by a Dominican-accented English voice, "Mr. Depp? Mr. Horner?"

"We're here!" Matthew immediately responded, "We're alright!"

Soon, three hotel security officers entered the bedroom, startled by the scene of the man and the knife on the floor.

Kara Knightley also came in behind them, her face turning pale as she saw Jack Sparrow on the ground, quietly walking up to Matthew and grasping his arm, "I've called the police."

With Matthew by her side, she felt much better, then turned to Depp, "Are you alright?"

Johnny Depp shook his head, "I'm fine, thanks to Matthew."

He headed to the dressing room, "I'm going to change my clothes."

While Johnny Depp changed, Matthew briefly explained what had happened to the hotel's security staff. The head of security immediately notified the hotel manager, and soon the Santo Domingo police arrived, along with the film crew's producer, Gore Verbinski, and several producers who had been staying at the hotel.

As the parties involved, Matthew and Johnny Depp gave their statements in the hotel room. Johnny Depp also notified his agent and management company, and the film crew communicated the incident to Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney Studios.

Given the shock Johnny Depp experienced, coupled with an incident involving indigenous actors earlier that day, Gore Verbinski decided to cancel the next two days of filming for Matthew, Johnny Depp, and Kara Knightley.

The Santo Domingo authorities took the incident very seriously. By dawn, the police had clarified the situation and briefed the film crew.

The incident was straightforward: the knife-wielding Jack Sparrow who had entered Johnny Depp's room was actually a hotel cleaner from another floor, a homosexual who idolized Johnny Depp and had prepared the costume and stolen a hotel room card to sneak into Depp's room at night...

The hotel management subsequently apologized to the film crew, Depp, and Matthew for their oversight and misconduct, waiving all the crew's lodging costs and offering Johnny Depp a lifetime free membership, while promising the highest level of security for the crew's remaining time at the hotel.

Matthew was indifferent, having intervened purely to help Depp. If it hadn't been his friend involved, he wouldn't have bothered.

The film crew was generally unconcerned, mainly because of Johnny Depp.

The next afternoon, Johnny Depp's agent flew in from Los Angeles. His first act after arriving at the hotel was to specifically thank Matthew.

Later, he represented Depp in a private discussion with the film crew and hotel management, and Matthew wasn't privy to the terms reached. Johnny Depp continued to stay at the hotel without pursuing legal action against it.

Additionally, the agent brought Johnny Depp's bodyguards from Los Angeles to Santo Domingo.

After two significant incidents, Jerry Bruckheimer flew in from Los Angeles to personally oversee the film crew, enhancing their security level. The Santo Domingo authorities also gave special attention to the crew, with a police squad protecting them throughout the remainder of the shooting.

Helen Herman specifically called Matthew, and he discouraged her from coming, as he was unharmed and she was busy in Los Angeles handling fan organization and charity foundation affairs for him.

The film crew's shooting in the Dominican Republic continued until the end of July, completing all scenes except those involving the cannibals and Jack Sparrow as planned.

Before August, Matthew, Johnny Depp, and Kara Knightley were among the first of the crew to return to Los Angeles. Matthew then briefly left the "Pirates of the Caribbean" crew to focus on a project he had been planning for over a year.

The "300 Spartans" project, led by Zack Snyder, was about to enter the preparation stage.
