Chapter 127: Mysterious Skeletons
When Heinald destroyed the demon, all that was left of it was a pitch black triangle-shaped crystal. No energy was emanating from this crystal.
While it felt like an ordinary crystal when he picked it up, it was clear that it wasn't. After all, it was all that was left of a demon!
After he sent it into the dimensional pocket of his robe, he continued walking down the dark road. However, after a while, he sat down and began to meditate to regain his Magical Energy.
At first, he could not put his soul and mind into energy renewal mode due to the uneasiness inside him. However, as time passed, his spirit and mind became more and more calm and he was able to enter a state of energy renewal.
The hours flowed like water.
When Heinald decided that his Magic Energy had been sufficiently regenerated, he continued walking.
After walking for an incalculable time, he realized that the road in front of him had ended and he had come to the edge of the cliff.
Before he panicked, he immediately started walking to the left. After walking for a while, the beginning of a stone bridge came into his sight.
"I don't know what kind of stone this bridge is made of, but it doesn't look ordinary." Heinald began to examine the bridge.
Then he started walking carefully over the bridge. Although the feeling of the bridge's solidity with every step he took gave him some relief, he did not even think to stop being cautious.
After walking for a long time, he reached another road. He had obviously wondered how such a long bridge was built. This bridge was both very long and quite wide.
"Damn light… If only I could see more clearly…" It was the first time Heinald had such a limited field of vision, which naturally made him feel uncomfortable.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, her heart began to beat with excitement when he saw a pale blue light ahead.
As he walked towards the light, he realized that it was a kind of light crystal hung on the wall. There was another same crystal ahead.
"Hm? Does the road curve to the right?" Heinald saw the next light coming from the right. The distance was not close, the light looked like a small spot, so he realized that he had to walk for a while.
His prediction was correct, and the path to the light crystal he saw in the distance was curved to the right.
When he reached that light, he began to see his surroundings much better than in other places. He was at the beginning of a very, very long hall. Thishall was illuminated with many light crystal.
Heinald started walking quickly. He hoped to get out of here somehow.
*Khaa!* A great discomfort rose within Heinald, along with the irritating growl.
A large number of pitch-black hands began to emerge from the floor below the hall. In a short time dozens of black skeletons emerged from the underground. Black smoke rose from their mouths and eyes.
"Even though I don't feel the energy waves emanating from them, I do feel the corrupt aura they have." Heinald had a serious expression on his face, carefully observing the skeletons.
*Khaa!* The skeletons shouted at the same time and started running towards him.
Predatory Destruction!
Clouds of fire appeared over the skeletons, and flames began to fall from them in the form of raindrops without stopping. However, these flames exploded as soon as they touched anything, creating scorching explosions.
Thousands of firedrops falling from the fire clouds were constantly exploding and scorching the whole environment. There were non-stop bursts of fire within the area of about a hundred meters.
"Although this spell is only a Medium-Rank spell, it is a pretty good field spell. Moreover, the damage potential is huge and I can cast it in less than a second!" Heinald was in a good mood as he evaluated the spell he had cast.
The skeletons that had come out of the ground had completely disappeared. The surroundings had been burned by violent bursts of fire, and the floors and walls were pitch black.
When Heinald checked ahead, he didn't see any skeletons coming towards him.
After walking for a few hours, he still had not reached the end of the corridor. While questioning how long this corridor was, he saw skeletons coming out from underground again ahead.
"Again?"
Embers appeared in Heinald's hand.
*Khaa!* The skeletons gave a battle cry, but this time there was something different about them. The black smoke coming out of their bodies came together and took the form of a black sword in their hands.
"I don't feel any magical energy emanating from them…" Heinald didn't understand how these skeletons were able to form swords.
He sent magical energy to Embers and wrapped it in a scorching flame. He jumped into the air and as he fell to the ground, he plunged his sword into the ground with all his might. At that moment, a wave of flames formed that spread in all directions.
*Kha!* The skeletons split the flames in half as they swung their swords at the incoming waves of flames.
"They managed to stand up to the flames…" Heinald muttered.
Although the flame runes on Embers were not very strong, they were still not weak runes either. However, the black swords formed by these skeletons were able to stop its flames.
Heinald, they didn't understand how they did it, could feel the Dark Energy emanating from those swords, but he couldn't feel it in the skeletons. However, he was sure that these swords formed by using Dark Magic.
Frost Wave!
A cold aura enveloped Heinald's body, and ice fumes began to rise from his body. Then a blast of cold air erupted outward. Everything in the impact area of this cold wave was covered with a layer of ice.
While Heinald was considering charging and destroying them, something he hadn't expected happened. A black circle about twenty meters in diameter formed above them, and the lines coming out of this circle broke the layer of ice that had frozen the skeletons.
"What's going on!?" Heinald's heart sank. He was sure that these skeletons were not using Dark Magic, so who did that?
The black circle disappeared after the layer of ice that had frozen the skeletons broke.
The skeletons all rushed towards Heinald at the same time.
He swung his sword around his wrist and started running towards them. When he came in front of one of the skeletons, he bent down to dodge the skeleton's sword, then made a left sword strike and slashed it off. The skeleton split in half and its bones turned to dust, the black sword turned into smoke and disappeared.
He then took a quick step to the right and parried the oncoming sword attack with his sword.
Flames from Embers spread as the two swords clashed. The black sword was not made of steel, it was made entirely of Black Energy, so it had no particular feeling.
He felt like he was stopped by nothing.
He kicked towards the skeleton, causing it to fly backwards rapidly. As far as he understood, the bones of these skeletons were much harder than the bones of ordinary people. They probably had bones as strong as the bones of a Level 1 Ainsar.
Heinald took a step back and ducked back, dodging the sword attack from his left side, then jumping forward and performed a cross slash.
The skeleton's chest could not resist the fire-encrusted sword, and it shattered into pieces.
"Blood Nightmare Siheld! Activate!" Heinald shouted out in his mind. A pale red barrier surrounded his body. The sword attack from behind was stopped by the barrier before it stabbed into his back.
This attack of the skeleton had only consumed 2% of Blood Nightmare Shield's energy. Although this amount seemed small, it could be considered quite high for a physical attack.
Frost Wave!
Heinald cast his freezing spell once again and froze the surrounding skeletons. This time he wanted to move fast. He gathered all his strength at his feet and rushed forward with all his might. He slashed through the skeletons he passed as he slid along like a line.
When he passed through all the skeletons and landed about forty meters away, all the skeletons split in two and collapsed to the ground. Within a few seconds, nothing was left but ice pieces and bone dust.
His physical strength far exceeded the endurance of these skeletons. They could not withstand any physical attack from him.
"There's something behind these skeletons... I don't know what it is yet, but of course it will show up." A cold glint passed through Heinald's eyes.
He started walking quickly through the long hall. After walking for hours, he finally saw a road curving to the right and steps leading up. He immediately came out of these steps and came out into a very large area.
In the middle of this area was a very large and thick column. The surroundings were illuminated by a large number of light crystals, even on the ceiling.
Heinald saw a statue of a robed man ahead. He held a large book in one hand and a staff in the other.
Other than that, there was nothing else that stood out. He was starting to worry that he didn't see a gate or a door. He didn't want to be walking for anything this whole time.
He started walking towards the statue. He couldn't see its back. Maybe there was a door or mechanism hidden in the back of that statue.
As he approached the statue, he suddenly felt the intense Dark Energy surrounding all the area. The statue's eyes suddenly began to glow red. Cracks had formed in various parts of it, and a thick black mist surrounded it.
