The Moon Bride

Chapter 4: A Free Life Is The Choice

The scars stretched from the area beneath the left ear of the left face to the chin, covering the left side of the face and it was mottled. It was indeed a bit unsightly.

Angela was quite surprised when she saw Ava's face. She didn't know that Ava was that badly hurt. A young wolf blood who wasn't married yet, and her appearance was already damaged. If the royal house knew about this, could the arranged marriage still go ahead?

Seeing Ava lowering her head with a sad look in her eyes, a sense of pity rose in her heart. She might not like this young girl, but the scar had terrifyingly damaged her face, which was something she didn't prepare to see.

Noticing the horror expressed on Angela's face, Ava couldn't help but feel a little aggrieved with her. Just now, she kept saying that she wanted to see her face by all means, and now?

Seeing Ava glaring at her, Angela said sympathetically. "Forgive me, Ava, I was a bit caught off guard. What should I do with your coming marriage to Alvin?"

When it came to the marriage, Angela was even more focused in making her daughter replace Ava in her engagement to Alvin. However, seeing Ava's sad expression, she felt pity for a while, and said softly to Ava. "What about the doctor, has he come to see you?"

Ava raised his head and replied to Angela. "Yes, aunt, and he applied some medicine on it."

"And what did he say?"

"He said that the burn is worse than most he had seen. It'll take long time to recover, if at all. He suggested surgery, although there is no guarantee that I will be able to fully recover."

Meaning, it was likely that she would never get better.

Marriage over! Angela smiled secretly in her heart. As things stood, the marriage between Ava and Alvin would definitely not happen now. Audrey's opportunity was finally here to be part of the royal house.

Angela continued to pretend to be sad and said. "Don't worry about the scar, Ava. You're still beautiful nonetheless. And you know what, I heard that there are some really good surgeons, connected to the royal house who specializes in burns and scalds. It's better to ask the Ultima for help someday. After you marry Alvin of course. But for now, why don't you leave this penthouse and come inside the villa for doctor Harrold to treat you further, okay?"

She knew that if Ava came back to the main villa, the news of her disfigurement would spread out like wildfire, which would eventually reach the ears of Alvin. This was her objective.

Mr. Smiths also knew of Alvin's reputation. Hearing what Angela said, he also felt it feasible, and nodded immediately, wondering how to explain Ava's disfigurement to the royal house. He deliberated with Angela on the issue, and they both left after a while.

Ava retained the memory of the original owner of her new body, and naturally also knew that she had been arranged in a marriage with young wolf blood of the noble lineage, Alvin. But she did not have any familiar impression of this prince. It seemed that the two had never met before.

In the memory of the original owner, she only knew that Alvin was a playboy who frequently visited the brothels. She had asked her maids for confirmation, and they acknowledged it was true.

After the departure of Ava's father and aunt, Samantha said to her with an indignant expression. "Miss, I want to tell you something."

"What is it?"

"I overheard your aunt talking about marrying your to Mr. Alvin first, and then she wants you to marry him as a second wife."

Ava's heart nearly burst open. Two sisters marrying one husband? Just the idea of a second wife was already enough to anger her, but to marry the same man with her sister? When Ava thought of it, she felt extremely cold and angry in her heart.

It was no wonder that Angela's face was beaming with joy when she left just now. This stepmother of hers was like a green snake under the green grass.

She knew that since Ava was disfigured, even if Alvin did not come to cancel the arranged marriage, she would be the source of ridicule in the world. A weak, pathetic, and disfigured wolf blood? She would nevervhave a good life after marrying him. Perhaps, only after her sister became married, would life be more easier for her.

Now Ava only hoped that Alvin would cancel the marriage after hearing the news of her disfigurement. She couldn't imagine herself marrying him along with her sister. Imaginr, working together with her sister to satisfy the needs of one husband, in a twenty-first century world? Never. She wanted no part of her aunt's hidden plan, whatever that was.

She calmed her mind. She was here for a reason. She never believed in werewolves or their kinds, but now, she was of wolf blood. God gave her a chance to be alive again in this new world, she would use her body to live peacefully and have a meaningful life.

She said to both Samantha and Lindsey. "Let the news of my scarred face reach the hears of the royal house. The more bad you make it look, the better. It's better to be ugly and free than to live a bad life."
