Episode 32 - The Demon King of Greed (8)
The Modern Founding Chronicles of the Returned Demon King
Episode 32: The Demon King of Greed (8)
‘…Is this what they call a person with a strong will?’
Beelzebub stared at Lee Seo-jun with a dumbfounded expression.
Woooooo
The immense energy emanating from him.
The fog swirling around him was like dark clouds, and the sparks jumping out were like the inherent lightning within.
It was, without a doubt, a disaster that cover the sky.
Suddenly, the Apocalypse of Asmodeus came to mind.
‘… his fists were like meteors, and his feet were like typhoons.’
If this were to become part of his own Apocalypse, what sentence should he record?
Many expressions came to mind, but if he had to include the essential ones:
‘… O Seven Deadly Sins who do not mix, heed my warning.’
Beware, the remaining seven deadly sins.
‘If you see someone flapping a black cloak,’
If you come face-to-face with Solomon Demon King,
‘Run, even if you can’t.’
Do not fight back, you must run away.
‘That is the only path granted to you.’
That is the only liberation granted to you.
“Do not stand still, try to run away.”
However, there will be no time to record this. For Asmodeus left his Apocalypse while escaping using his ‘spatial manipulation ability’.
Therefore, the remaining seven deadly sins will continue to repeat the same actions.
They will invade Earth with confidence, underestimate Solomon Demon King, and eventually die.
“…Are you so bug-like that you can’t hear?”
Moments later, the upright Lee Seo-jun slowly,
Very slowly, lowered his stance.
At the same time, the impending doom descended.
The three dukes, who were just as shocked as he was, blocked in front of him, sensing the imminent disaster.
“Lord Beelzebub, run—”
Before they could finish their sentences.
Flash!
A jet-black flash flooded their vision.
Amidst that incredible speed, the demons screams were cruelly trampled.
And at some point, when they came into focus, Lee Seo-Jun’s face was within reach of their nose.
The dukes caught in that disaster simply became droplets of blood pouring down from above.
‘My dukes have…’
After all, what does the rank of a duke mean?
Aside from the Demon Kings like himself, they were the most powerful beings. Therefore, even one of them could destroy this Earth.
However, just a single being.
A human, yet a being that transcended human limits.
“Up close, you’re even more hideous.”
Solomon’s Demon King, Lee Seo-jun.
In front of him, all life forms had no choice but to shrink back.
Lee Seo-jun met eyes at the same level.
“Try to run away with all your might.”
“…Kh!”
Beelzebub followed that voice, which sounded like an order.
His body turned into liquid for a moment and seeped into the darkness, freely navigating through the curtains.
‘If I confront him head-on, there’s no way I can win.’
Still, if he didn’t try to attack, he could always run away. This was a space he could control as he pleased.
Then should I just run away? No, that’s not it.
“Until the guys outside conquer the Earth, I will bidding my time here.”
This barrier won’t open unless it’s ‘by my will’, no matter how strong the impact.
So, all I have to do is lock Lee Seo-jun in here and become stronger with the ‘greed’ gathered by the minions.
It doesn’t matter if it takes 100 years or 1,000 years. As long as I can survive against that guy, any amount of time is bearable.
Of course, there’s also the dragon outside, but the odds were good enough. If worst comes to worst, I just have to wait for another of the Seven Deadly Sins to arrive.
Shuffle, shuffle—
Finally, Lee Seo-jun began to move.
But I wasn’t worried. I could maintain the speed of light within this barrier.
No matter how fast Lee Seo-jun was, it was impossible for him to have the reflexes to catch up with that.
“Hide, hide.”
A chilling voice echoed inside the barrier.
Eyes like razors tracked him.
“Show your antennae.”
Flash———!
The next moment, a thunderous noise shook the area, as if shifting the axis of the Earth.
A darkness darker than black cut through space. It appeared like the speed of light to Beelzebub.
“Kuhk!”
By the time he came to his senses, he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen, and a radiant sword was embedded there.
Upon taking the hit, Beelzebub materialized and flew out of the barrier, and Lee Seo-jun bared his fangs.
“Found you.”
As Lee Seo-jun twisted the lightning-wrapped sword, blood gushed out.
Beelzebub glared at him with furrowed brows.
“How, how did you…?”
“My reflexes are quite exceptional.”
Even in normal circumstances, Lee Seo-jun wouldn’t be able to track Beelzebub’s speed.
But he had one ability.
He had the [Relative Perception] ability he had obtained from Kim Jin-woo, allowing him to calmly observe the world.
Although it was still difficult to perfectly detect Beelzebub’s movements, Lee Seo-jun saw not a dot but a line.
Then, he predicted the path of that line and plunged the sword in by utilizing his physical abilities.
Reflexes, mathematical skills, physical abilities.
If he lacked in any of these, he wouldn’t be able to execute this plan. It was a result only possible because he was Lee Seo-jun.
He activated his ability without pulling out the sword.
“Thunderbolt.”
“Aaaargh!!”
A violent spark arose from Beelzebub’s innards, and he screamed in convulsions.
Lee Seo-jun was mocking the Seven Deadly Sins Beelzebub like catching a fly with an electric flyswatter.
“Let’s finish this now.”
Considering this enough, Lee Seo-jun pulled out the sword and aimed it at Beelzebub’s throat.
After that, there was no hesitation.
Snipe!
Beelzebub’s flying head spun a few rounds in the air before landing at Lee Seo-jun’s feet.
Lee Seo-jun stomped on it and looked around.
“Now, shall we go back…?”
“Zing! Hahahahaha!!”
Suddenly, a loud laugh echoed from Beelzebub’s head.
Even with just the upper part of his neck remaining, Beelzebub was still alive. Truly, a survival power worthy of the Seven Deadly Sins.
“Just because my neck is cut doesn’t mean I die.”
“How pitiful, the Solomon Demon King.”
“What are you talking about?”
“From now on, you’re stuck here forever. Once you’re in my barrier, you can never return to Earth.”
Beelzebub revealed his cold teeth.
Lee Seo-jun aimed the tip of his sword at Beelzebub’s vertically slit pupils.
“That can be solved by killing you.”
“No, even if you kill me, this barrier won’t disappear. It will only disappear by my will! Meaning, unless I release this barrier before dying, you’ll be stuck here forever!”
“Hmm…”
“Don’t tell me you’re planning to torture me to make me undo it?”
“No, it seems to me there’s no need for that.”
“…What?”
“Look over there.”
Lee Seo-jun pointed right in front of him.
Beelzebub wanted to look, but his head was cut off below the neck, so he couldn’t turn it.
“Ah, you can’t see.”
“…You miserable creature.”
Seeing Beelzebub like that, Lee Seo-jun chuckled and grabbed the antennae.
Then he turned them in that direction.
“Look.”
“…?”
Narrowing his eyes, Beelzebub intently looked at that spot.
Inside the dark, shimmering barrier, where not a single speck of light should enter, a beam of sunlight was penetrating.
“And there and there too.”
Before Beelzebub could even become flustered, Lee Seo-jun showed him other places, still holding the antennae.
Light was seeping through the gaps in the darkness there as well.
“This, this is absurd… How could my barrier be…?”
“As I suspected.”
“You suspected?”
When Baalzebub looked up in despair, Lee Seo-jun gripped his staff differently to face him.
“Let me tell you an old story for a moment.”
“……”
” Since the beginning, there existed a legendary stone known as ‘Adamantine’. Uniquely, when eroded by rain, the stone would release oil containing its substance. ”
“Yo-you can’t mean…”
“And When applied to a weapon, it becomes unbreakable and can even cut through formless things.”
Lee Seo-jun shone the ‘Demon King’ into Baalzebub’s pupils.
“Is smeared on this.”
Baalzebub’s eyes widened significantly.
Then, he angrily retorted.
“Don’t talk nonsense! Even the other Seven Deadly Sins couldn’t find it after a long search and gave up! There’s no way you could have it!”
“I guess I have good connections.”
Saying that, Lee Seo-jun put Baalzebub’s head on the ground.
“Well, you’ll see whether it’s nonsense or not. I’ll show you that spectacle specifically. Watch closely.”
Lee Seo-jun gently gripped the ‘Demon King’ and drew in his energy. His Magi rapidly concentrated.
“This is the moment your sky falls.”
Crack!
It was shot straight into Baalzebub’s vast sky.
A brilliant line drawn in the darkness.
Doodles—
Countless words derived from the line are inscribed.
With just one swing, Baalzebub’s sky was crumbling.
Crash!
Eventually, it disintegrated into seven-colored fragments. Another sky began to fill the view, pressing down on the space.
A purple and scarlet sky, a sun hanging on the horizon, and a moon floating in the void.
Within the scattering magnificent light, Lee Seo-jun spoke.
“And this is the moment my sky rises.”
It was twilight.

“Your Majesty!”
When I emerged from the barrier, Quel greeted me.
Quel was covered in blood, and around him were the corpses of demons. He had dealt with other demons while I was fighting Baalzebub.
“It seems there are no issues here. Are the others alive?”
“Yes, over there…”
Following Quel’s gaze, I saw Park Sang-cheol and Kim Jin-woo sitting exhausted. About ten other hunters from different countries were also present.
“But Your Majesty, what is that?”
Quel looked at my hand.
Baalzebub’s head, still gripped in my tentacle.
I proudly showed it to Quel.
“It’s the Demon King of Greed.”
“You fool!! Stop playing with me and kill me already!!”
Baalzebub was still alive. It was amazing that he hadn’t died yet.
Seeing this, Quel’s eyes filled with awe.
“…Truly, you are His Majesty.”
“I’ll take a quick look around the castle, so take them to where the others are resting. Oh, and ask to Ha Seong-woo to grab some ‘Demon’s Claw’ as well.”
I don’t know what it does yet, but Roberto said it’s good to have.
“Yes, understood.”
Quel bowed once and turned away.
“You! Kill me now! What on earth are you doing!”
I also headed for the island, gripping Baalzebub’s tentacle.
***
“Baalzebub, tell me about this castle.”
“You insolent fool. Do you think I would tell my enemy such things?”
“Thunderbolt.”
“Aaaahh!!”
When I electrified Baalzebub’s head, he screamed.
“Just finish this and I’ll kill you, so speak.”
Baalzebub looked at me silently.
Just as I thought more discipline was needed, Baalzebub opened his mouth.
“…This is the outer courtyard. Beyond that entrance is the inner courtyard, inside which are the castle’s main buildings and beyond that is something like a training ground.”
Baalzebub’s castle was not structurally different from a medieval castle, except that it shone magnificently like those in the Solomon demon realm.
As I passed through the inner courtyard and entered the main building, a grand atmosphere welcomed me.
Golden chandeliers, flawless, shining items.
Everything in the castle exuded unparalleled nobility.
“Wow, you’ve decorated it nicely. Now lead me to where you’ve stored the treasures you’ve collected.”
“You madman! Find it yourself and just kill me already!”
” Thunderbolt.”
“Aaaahh!!”
After that, Baalzebub did not argue against my words.
