The Master of Beasts

Chapter 27: The Sect Master's Sudden Change of Style

"Junior Brother, what's the deal with this little thing?" Wudao Tian grabbed Yu Heng from behind with one hand.

"Hey, it actually looks quite like those jade carvings in the great hall. Is this your reward for beating the Jade Carving, Junior Brother? It seems way more interesting than my spear."

"Hey, let me go! I AM a Jade Daoist!" Yu Heng struggled furiously.

Unfortunately, after Yu Heng emerged, he could only just maintain the cultivation of a True Immortal, making it somewhat difficult for him to break free from Wudao Tian's grasp.

"Senior Brother, Senior Brother, this is Yu Heng; he really is an avatar of the Jade Daoist," explained Chen Jiuge.

After some investigation, Chen Jiuge found that everyone else who went in was attacked by the Jade Carving. Then, by shattering it, they obtained a Magic Treasure before packing up the entire Immortal Jade hall. In short, everyone except for Chen Jiuge struck it rich.

Chen Jiuge looked at Yu Heng with a touch of melancholy. My Immortal Jade, oh my.

"What are you looking at, kid? You're not thinking of stealing my food, are you?" Yu Heng said warily.

Chen Jiuge sighed. It was all agreed upon; going back on his word didn't seem right. But maybe Yu Heng was a special case. The others mentioned that the Jade Carvings lacked Spiritual Wisdom, yet Yu Heng possessed it and even remembered quite a bit, including the cultivation methods of the Jade Clan.

Chen Jiuge didn't keep the cultivation methods of the Jade Clan to himself. The initial cost of this endeavor was enormous. To allow the Jade Clan to truly breed autonomously would cost an astronomical sum; selling Eden Garden wouldn't even cover it.

But then again, wasn't it expected that creating a new race would require huge expenses?

Yu Heng's origins made everyone take him seriously. Wudao Tian went so far as to directly send a message to his Sect Master and Master because, after all, a living avatar of a Great Power from ancient times, even with incomplete memories, must know quite a lot.

「Myriad Beasts Sect」

Humming a tune, Jun Linseng was in a cheerful mood as he watered the flowers, although neither the water nor the flowers were quite ordinary.

Drops of water floating in mid-air transformed into a tiny water man who gave an insolent middle finger to the open-mouthed flower below, darting around and refusing to fall. This infuriated the flower to the point of uprooting itself and successfully consuming the water man with a triple jump.

"Another leisurely day," Jun Linseng said, putting down the watering can and stretching languidly.

"Huh, a message from Dao Tian. Has he been detained by some sect again?" Jun Linseng was puzzled. Didn't Dao Tian go on a trip with his Daoist couple? How could there be a fight?

"A half-step to Dao Yi ancient Great Power's avatar? The Jade Daoist?" Jun Linseng was somewhat surprised.

"Interesting, interesting. Since I'm not busy lately, I might as well go in person." Jun Linseng glanced at the mountainous pile of tasks nearby, decided he wasn't too busy right now, and chose to take matters into his own hands.

「Having floated above Jade Immortal City for a month, Firecracker was now quite angry.」

"Where are those little thieves hiding?"

According to the Jiuyou Sect's ancestors' analysis of the Jade Daoist's legacy, it was supposed to be related to the Jade Dao. As long as one obtained the legacy, that rich essence of the Jade Dao would be impossible not to detect.

But Firecracker couldn't have possibly dreamt that Chen Jiuge, who could have acquired it, had refused. And though Yu Heng, who emerged with Chen Jiuge, was indeed an avatar of the Jade Daoist, his nature was more like that of a thinking puppet, not at all touched by the essence of the Jade Dao.

The speed of a Golden Immortal was very fast. How fast, exactly? So fast that it seemed like they departed with one step and arrived with the next.

Looking at Jun Linseng beating up Firecracker in the sky, Chen Jiuge remarked, "So it turns out the Sect Master is also into Body Refinement."

"What else would it be? If Master didn't practice Body Refinement, why would I?" Wudao Tian said, puzzled.

"YIKES! That's brutal, Sect Master! How could you hit someone below the belt?" Zhu Yinghuang winced, pressing his legs together. That must really hurt.

"Eye-poking too?" Chen Jiuge was shocked by the Sect Master's ruffian fighting style.

"Oh, that's gotta hurt a bit," Wudao Tian said thoughtfully.

A massive concentration of Spiritual Energy in the sky solidified into a finger and jabbed fiercely at Firecracker's behind, making everyone present shudder.

"This old fart really thinks that now he's got the backing of the Jiuyou Sect, I wouldn't dare to beat him up? Luckily, he knows his place. If he dared to release his Dao, I'd shatter it on the spot," Jun Linseng said with the air of a superior being.

"Dad, can you be a bit more normal the next time you have a magic duel?" Jun Sandao said, looking at his father speechlessly.

"You brat, you're here too? What's this about 'normal'? In a duel, you use whatever method gets you the win. You're so grown up and you still don't understand this? Look at Dao Tian; he's learned well," Jun Linseng said, looking satisfied with his eldest disciple.

If it weren't for his slightly reckless nature, he could actually be considered a candidate for the next Sect Master.

"Is this the ancient Great Power's avatar you were talking about? This weak little thing?" Jun Linseng said, looking at Yu Heng with disbelief.

After fiddling with Yu Heng and finding it indeed only had the aura of a True Immortal, Jun Linseng expressed his dissatisfaction, "Dao Tian, if you've caused trouble, it's one thing to ask me for help. But you shouldn't be deceiving me, should you?"

"This is like betraying your master and ancestors!"

Wudao Tian grumbled, "Why would I deceive you? Ask Junior Chen."

"Jiuge, you tell him."

Chen Jiuge looked at Yu Heng, who was feigning death and refusing to speak, and said, "Out with it, will you?"

Yu Heng didn't respond.

"I have a Spiritual Beast Garden. It's not large, but it has quite a few Spiritual Beasts, and thousands of Spirit Fruit trees. I also have a private stock of Spiritual Tea and Spiritual Wine. If you're cooperative, I think you could try them all," Chen Jiuge tempted.

Yu Heng's petite mouth was already drooling crystal-clear saliva. Although he didn't know why a jade person would drool, Chen Jiuge could tell he was tempted.

Seeing this, the others also started to tempt him, and finally, Yu Heng caved.

"Alright, alright, ask what you want to know. But you can't short-change me on what you promised!" Yu Heng said, firmly clutching his small fists.

Sorry, original body, forgive me! I just can't hold back anymore! Who asked you not to leave me any delicious food back then?

"If you're free, you should come back with me for now. The Jiuyou Sect won't let the matter of the Jade Daoist rest so easily. You should go back and hide for a while."

"Okay."

In the blink of an eye, Chen Jiuge returned to Eden Garden.

"I didn't expect to return this way," Chen Jiuge mused.

"But... are we forgetting something?" Yue Meng felt like something was missing.

Then, both person and beast exclaimed in shock, "Da Bai!"

「Ever since deciding to find an Artifact Refining Master for himself, Da Bai had been pouring his heart and soul into it.」

He visited all the Artifact Refining Masters in the city, day and night, but the outcome was somewhat disappointing.

"What kind of trash are you? You want to apprentice yourself to a master stonecutter? Why don't you take a piss and look at your own reflection!"

Thrown out by a True Immortal, Da Bai felt his defenses crumble. He had spent almost all his Spirit Stones and given away countless treasures, yet no one was willing to teach him. If that wasn't bad enough, they didn't even return the gifts! It was enough to infuriate any Qilin.

"If it weren't for the fact that I can't beat you, all of you would be dead!" Da Bai said fiercely.

"SIGH. Maybe I should just go back... No, I just made that boast. Giving up now would be too shameful for a beast. But I don't have many Spirit Stones left," Da Bai lamented.

As he walked along, he suddenly saw a dazzling and magnificent workshop, from which alluring voices drifted.

"Three sixes!"

"Big!"

"Small!"

I'll just play a couple of rounds. No big deal, right?

Da Bai patted the dust off himself and decided to show these locals the return of the God of Gamblers.
