The Married Life Of Immortals

Chapter 45: Domain of Dead Kings Part 3

Bane nodded. He already mostly knew this from what he had learned from Eve, but now he had a better picture of what was to come. Though, Bane still had one problem.

"So? How do I get out of here?" Bane asked, and Daigatz snorted.

"You think I care if you keep me here? Just how long do you think that you can live in a place like this?" The Supreme One sneered, but then blinked as he watched demonic energy flow into the small child's palm, and into his body.

"There is a lot of this stuff here, right? I mean, this place almost feels like a limitless source of demonic energy... Am I wrong? If I'm not, then I can just convert this into mana and spiritual energy. I could probably not only form a mana core, but probably reach an immortal cultivation in a few thousand years. I will just survive off spiritual energy until you decide to say uncle and let me out," Bane explained, and then sat down to start cultivating again.

Daigatz's expression darkened. He had underestimated this mortal, this child who seemed to have an unnaturally deep understanding of the arcane and cosmic laws. The Supreme One had no desire to be trapped in this strange, mutable space for eternity.

Bane closed his eyes, his breathing becoming steady and rhythmic as he began to draw in the demonic energy surrounding them. The air crackled with power, and a faint glow enveloped Bane's body, indicating his cultivation process.

Daigatz's mind raced. He had to find a way to break free, to turn the situation to his advantage. "Very well," he said, his voice laced with a grudging respect. "I will answer your questions. But know this, mortal: you tread on dangerous ground."

Bane's eyes flicked open, a smirk playing on his lips. "Questions? I think you are mistaken. I have already asked you everything I want to know. I just want a way in and out of this place, since it looks like a good place to train and get stronger in the future."

Daigatz seethed, his pride battling against the realization that he had little leverage. "A portal," he spat out. "You need a portal to navigate in and out of this domain. The key lies in the interplay of energy signatures. If you can replicate the frequency that brought you here, you can reverse it to leave."

Bane absorbed this information, considering the complexities involved. "And how exactly do I replicate this frequency? Do I need a specific artifact, a spell, or can I do it with sheer willpower?"

Daigatz hesitated. Revealing too much could backfire, but his options were limited. "You'll need to attune to the energy of this place, master its rhythm. That requires both a deep understanding of the arcane and a precise control over your own energy. You might be able to construct a temporary portal, but it won't be easy. This domain is treacherous and unstable."

Bane nodded thoughtfully, already forming a plan. "Fine. I’ll figure it out. Meanwhile, you’ll stay here and think about how to answer my questions more honestly next time."

Bane stood, the runes around him pulsating as he extended his senses deeper into the domain. He could feel the chaotic energies, the remnants of battles and the spirits of the fallen. This place was indeed a repository of immense power, but it was also a trap.

He began to weave his energy, forming intricate patterns in the air. He chanted softly, his voice melding with the ambient energy of the domain. The runes glowed brighter, but it was not a portal that appeared. It was a floating transparent gray menu screen like on a computer.

"How?! There is no way that you just took mastery of this realm!!" Daigatz screamed, but he knew it was too late, and everything was over for him.

Bane just ignored the being, and started to look through the menu. It was basically a setting menu for whoever mastered the Domain of Dead Kings, and that master was now Bane. According to the settings, this place was actually meant to be a prison of sorts, but Bane found it weird that there was no one here.

After tweaking a bunch of the settings, Bane turned to Daigatz. With a snap of his fingers, all the runes holding him vanished, and Daigatz's massive figure sank to the ground in defeat. He couldn't even die if he tried to kill himself, the Domain of Dead Kings would not allow it.

"Well, it looks like you understand how this place works, but I am curious to know where all your prisoners are? This is a jail, right?" Bane asked, and Daigatz looked up with a defeated expression.

"I use this as a form of transport to bend the wills of strong individuals that do not wish to follow me. The main purpose is to collect strong beings, and then they are slowly brainwashed to become loyal servants of the owner. That way, anytime a new one comes in, all the others attack them endlessly until the brainwashing takes effect. I have no use for such a thing anymore, and kept it just in case I found someone special like you. Clearly, I made multiple oversights, but I just don't understand how a Rogue Exile was able to retain so much forbidden knowledge, or how you could have the patience to absorb it so fast?!"

Daigatz looked to Bane for answers, but the small boy could only shrug. "Sounds like you all must have been pretty awful to Onyx, and now he is using me as a conduit for his revenge. Not that I care. I have my own goal, but to enjoy the results of completing my goal, I have to get rid of all of you. So, I guess Onyx's revenge will just become part of my goal."

And with that, Bane turned to leave, beginning to open the portal back to the cave where he had been sucked in, but the moment a pin-prick hole appeared in the growing portal, a black sphere popped through, and the portal closed again.

"So, you're not only alive, but you absorbed everything I had stored in your head and body?" A metallic voice coming from the black sphere asked, and Bane nodded.

"Took my time, since you are probably going to lock it all back up, right Onyx?" Bane asked with a smirk.
