Chapter 36: Internal Problems
Before Jiang Yixin even reached the Marketing Department, she heard laughter echoing from the office area in the distance.
Upon arrival, she saw a dozen female employees surrounding Xiao Feng, the group chatting loudly and occasionally bursting into laughter, far from the seriousness expected in an office environment.
Witnessing this scene, Jiang Yixin was furious, quickly walking up to Xiao Feng and angrily saying, "Come with me, Mr. Du wants to see you!"
The women exchanged glances and hurriedly returned to their posts, feeling somewhat uneasy.
"I'll head over there first, and we'll continue our conversation when I get back." Xiao Feng said to the ladies in the Marketing Department before leaving with Jiang Yixin.
After Xiao Feng left, someone couldn't help but ask worriedly, "What do you think Mr. Du wants with Mr. Xiao?"
"What else could it be? Imagine your husband chatting with other women every day; would you be happy?"
"What do we do? Mr. Du won't make things difficult for us, right?"
"Why would he blame us? It's not like we're the ones actively seeking out Mr. Xiao for a chat. It's her issue she can't control her husband; it's none of our business."
The department manager in the inner office finally couldn't hold back, opening the door and angrily saying, "How much longer are you planning to chat? The company doesn't pay you to come here just to gossip."
The female employees immediately fell silent but were inwardly thinking: When Mr. Xiao was around, you never had such a stern attitude.
Meanwhile, Xiao Feng was already seated opposite Du Qingyue, smiling as he asked, "What do you want to see me about?"
Du Qingyue said coldly, "I want to know what you've been busy with all day today?"
"Getting to know the situation on the ground and building good relationships with front-line employees," Xiao Feng replied calmly.
Jiang Yixin was shocked; how could he present chatting up women as something so noble?
However, Du Qingyue seemed to believe Xiao Feng's explanation and continued, "Then tell us, what did you find out?"
"Before I say anything, I want to ask you both a question." Xiao Feng called Jiang Yixin over and asked, "Do you both think I'm just idly chatting with the ladies?"
"Isn't that exactly it?" Jiang Yixin rolled her eyes.
"Of course not!" Xiao Feng smiled and pulled out an A4 sheet from his pocket, handing it to Du Qingyue.
Du Qingyue took it, somewhat puzzled, and immediately frowned as if she saw something unacceptable.
Jiang Yixin, watching from the side, was confused but knew Du Qingyue's reaction was related to the content on that paper.
"Take a look too." Du Qingyue handed the A4 paper to Jiang Yixin.
"How can this be?!" Jiang Yixin exclaimed after just one glance at its contents.
The Lanyue Group's main business focuses on cosmetics and beauty, occupying about a third of the market share in Jiangcheng.
As a private enterprise, achieving this is quite remarkable,
but the paper detailed how front-line employees were embezzling funds, exploiting loopholes in the rules for personal gain.
To put it bluntly, few consumers truly benefited from promotional activities; most of the profits went into the pockets of insiders.
The consequences of this approach are evident, especially now when every company is fighting tooth and nail, even willing to incur losses to seize market share. If the Lanyue Group continues this way, it's uncertain if they can even maintain their existing market hold.
"Is everything written here true?" Jiang Yixin found it hard to believe.
Xiao Feng nodded without hesitation and said, "You should spend more time out there instead of cooped up in the office, relying on reports. Can you grasp the real situation that way?"
Jiang Yixin was somewhat annoyed, knowing that Xiao Feng was indirectly criticizing her, but the content on the paper left her without a retort.
Du Qingyue's face remained cold and silent; she knew that what Xiao Feng described was likely true and understood that even if the Lanyue Group didn't fall into Du Linlang's hands, it still wouldn't be hers in the end.
But she didn't want to watch helplessly as the enterprise she had built from scratch was destroyed overnight.
After a moment of silence, Jiang Yixin broke it first: "I'll go check with the finance department."
"No need," Xiao Feng said lightly. "Investigating will be futile. The accounts will undoubtedly show profits. It's like buying stocks: buy low, sell high. Issues won't stem from finance in such cases."
"Then what do you suggest we do?" Jiang Yixin asked, somewhat annoyed.
Xiao Feng shrugged nonchalantly, "Isn't it inappropriate to ask me? It's already considerate enough of me to help uncover the problem. How to resolve it isn't my concern."
"You!" Jiang Yixin was infuriated and was about to start arguing with Xiao Feng.
However, at this moment, the previously silent Jiang Yixin spoke, "Yixin, he's not wrong. At the very least, we didn't grasp these situations firsthand. Hopefully, it's not discovered too late."
After saying this, she immediately proposed remedial measures: "Go check the accounts. While they may not show losses, the money entries will have records. Try to find evidence of private interests being served by the Public Relations and Marketing departments."
Jiang Yixin nodded, shot a glare at Xiao Feng, and then left.
"Thank you!" Du Qingyue said sincerely to Xiao Feng, though her tone was filled with helplessness.
She wasn't sure if this matter was related to Du Linlang, but external issues must be addressed internally. If everything within is in chaos, there's no point in discussing welcoming prosperity.
Ironically, Du Qingyue's thank you made Xiao Feng feel somewhat embarrassed.
Because his initial intention of going to the Public Relations department was, indeed, just to chat with the ladies.
Unexpectedly, the ladies turned out to be quite forthcoming, and through their conversations, these internal problems surfaced. After sensing something amiss, Xiao Feng probed further and uncovered the situation.
After a long pause, seeing Du Qingyue's troubled demeanor, Xiao Feng contemplated and asked, "Are you facing some difficult problem?"
"Why do you ask?" Du Qingyue absentmindedly responded. She was preoccupied with thoughts on overcoming the crisis and had no interest in casual chatter.
Xiao Feng replied, "Firstly, your eyes gave you away, and secondly, last time when your cousin came over, I felt her intentions weren't minor."
Du Qingyue sighed, "Your intuition is right. Her ambitions aren't small; her target is the entire Lanyue Group."
"Lanyue Group?" This time, Xiao Feng was truly astonished: "And if she succeeds, what about you?"
"Our grandfather set a challenge for us: whoever wins becomes the president of Lanyue Group, while the loser can only serve as vice president." With that, Du Qingyue straightforwardly recounted what Du Linlang had informed her about and the problems she faced.
