The Magic Gunslinger: Summoned to Another World

Chapter 6: The Cave of Horror and first mission complete

Micah had been walking for two hours, his boots crunching softly against the dirt path as he finally reached the outskirts of the city. The dense forest loomed ahead, its canopy dark and foreboding. He stepped inside, gripping Aria Nocturne tightly, his senses sharp and ready for anything.

An hour passed in silence, the forest eerily quiet save for the occasional rustle of leaves. Micah kept his steps light, scanning his surroundings for any signs of movement.

Then, he heard it—a faint noise.

His body tensed as he crept toward the sound. Peeking through the thick underbrush, he spotted two goblins walking along a faint trail, their guttural chatter grating to his ears.

"Where are you little creeps headed?" Micah muttered under his breath.

He decided to follow them, staying low and silent as they led him deeper into the forest. After several minutes, he saw it: a cave.

From his vantage point, he noticed two goblins stationed at the entrance, crude weapons in their hands. The two goblins he'd followed walked past the guards and disappeared into the dark maw of the cave.

Micah's red eyes narrowed. He raised Aria Nocturne, steadying his aim. A chilling smirk crept across his face as he whispered, "Skill: Phantom Shot, 2x."

With a muffled bang that seemed to tear through the air itself, two invisible bullets shot forward. The guards didn't even have time to react before they crumpled to the ground, lifeless.

Micah lowered his gun and approached the cave entrance cautiously. As he stepped inside, a foul stench assaulted his senses.

"Ugh, what the hell is that smell? Did something die in here?" he muttered, covering his nose.

The further he walked, the worse the smell became. Rot, death, and decay hung thick in the air, making his stomach churn.

When he reached the end of the cave, he froze, his breath catching in his throat.

Micah peeked around the corner and nearly gagged at the sight before him. The cavern opened into a large, dimly lit chamber, and what he saw was beyond horrifying.

Piles of human corpses were strewn across the ground, their bodies twisted and broken. Among them were the ravaged remains of women, their lifeless eyes staring into nothingness. The goblins were still at it, desecrating the remains without a shred of remorse.

Micah's body trembled—not with fear, but with rage. His aura began to radiate from his body, pulsing in waves of raw anger.

"This is… disgusting," he muttered, his voice shaking.

He clenched his fists, his eyes blazing as he counted the goblins. There were at least 80 of them, laughing, shouting, and indulging in their horrific acts.

Micah's heart ached as he looked at the lifeless faces of the humans. "I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice breaking. "I will avenge you."

He stepped out from his hiding spot, his voice echoing through the cavern.

"Come to me, Nova Fang!"

In an instant, the black-and-gold pistols materialized in his hands, glowing faintly as if responding to his fury. Micah pointed both weapons toward the goblins, his expression dark and unforgiving.

"Combo Gun Skill: Explosive Barrage + Elemental Shot (Fire)!"

The pistols roared with deafening bangs, firing bursts of explosive, fiery bullets into the horde. The resulting explosions lit up the entire cavern, the force shaking the walls and sending shockwaves outward.

Micah didn't stop firing until the cavern was engulfed in flames and chaos. The goblins screamed in terror as the inferno consumed them, their vile existence obliterated in a matter of seconds.

As the cave began to collapse, Micah calmly walked back to the entrance. He stepped outside just as the final explosion erupted behind him, a massive shockwave blasting out of the cave.

Micah turned back, watching the inferno. He closed his eyes and whispered, "Rest well, and to hell with you goblins."

Micah's eyes scanned the screen, his excitement mounting. "This is insane. I've gotten way stronger!"

He clenched his fists, the weight of his newfound power settling over him. "Alright," he said softly, his voice steady. "Let's see what's next."

Micah walked back to the city, his steps heavy with the weight of what he had seen in the cave. The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows across the road, but he barely noticed. His mind replayed the horrific sights—the bodies, the suffering, the cruelty.

He clenched his fists as his red eyes glowed faintly. "I'll never forget that," he muttered under his breath. "Not as long as I live."

The city gates came into view after two grueling hours, and the noise of bustling streets and lively vendors pulled him slightly from his thoughts. He adjusted the strap of his magic gun, shaking his head to clear it. "First mission… and it was already this brutal," he said quietly, stepping through the gates.

The Guild

The moment Micah opened the door to the guild, the familiar buzz of adventurers filled the air. Conversations, laughter, and the occasional clink of mugs created a lively atmosphere.

Kaida, the tiger-woman receptionist, noticed him immediately. She grinned and leaned on the counter, ready to tease him. "Hey, newbie! Did you get scared by a few goblins?"

Micah walked toward her without saying a word. His expression was unreadable, but his usual grin was gone.

Kaida's teasing smile faltered as she caught a good look at his face. "Micah?" she asked, her tone softening. "Are you okay? What happened?"

Micah stopped in front of her, standing straight and meeting her gaze. "Do you want my report?" he asked flatly.

Kaida nodded, her expression turning serious. "Yes. Tell me everything."

Micah took a deep breath and began recounting what he had seen in vivid detail. He described the two goblins he followed, the cave entrance, and the stench that grew worse as he ventured inside. Then, he told her about the scene in the cavern—the bodies, the horrors, and the vile acts the goblins had committed.

Kaida's golden eyes widened in shock as he continued. The bustling guild hall grew quieter as adventurers nearby stopped what they were doing to listen.

"By the time I counted them, there were at least 80 goblins," Micah said, his voice low but steady. "They were laughing and desecrating the dead like it was some kind of game." His fists clenched at his sides as his aura began to radiate faintly, an intense energy that made everyone nearby feel it.

"I obliterated them," he said coldly, his red eyes glowing faintly. "I wiped them out of existence. Every last one of them. They didn't deserve to live."

The room was silent now, every eye on Micah. Kaida stared at him, her lips parted slightly in disbelief. She wasn't sure what to say.

After a moment, she cleared her throat and regained her composure. "Micah…" she started, her voice softer than usual. "That was… an intense first mission."

Micah nodded but said nothing.

Kaida continued, "What you saw… it's not something anyone should have to face, especially on a beginner mission. But you handled it." She hesitated, then added, "And you did what had to be done."

Micah's aura dimmed slightly as he exhaled deeply, her words registering in his mind. "Yeah," he said finally. "I did."

Kaida leaned forward, her tone more empathetic. "You're stronger than you look, Micah. Both physically and mentally. Most people wouldn't have been able to walk back here after something like that."

Micah gave a faint smile, though his usual lightheartedness was absent. "Thanks," he said quietly.

She studied him for a moment longer, then straightened up and added her usual confidence back to her voice. "Well, congratulations, newbie. You completed your first mission and lived to tell the tale. That's more than some people can say."

The adventurers around the guild murmured their opinions, some praising his bravery, others in awe of his strength. Micah listened to their words but remained quiet.

Kaida tapped the counter. "You'll need to write up the full report later, but for now, take some time to rest. You earned it, Micah."

He nodded again, his body relaxing slightly. "Thanks, Kaida."

As he turned to leave, Kaida called after him, "And hey—don't forget. If you ever need someone to talk to, you know where to find me."

Micah glanced back at her, his faint smile returning. "Got it."

With that, he headed toward the inn, his thoughts still heavy but his resolve stronger than ever.
