NOVEL NEXT Chapter 3: Family Event
Finishing some light makeup she like to use slipping on some high heeled black ankle boots it's still early spring so the nights are still chilly. Lily put on a dark green knitted sweater dress that hugs and some soft thick leggings well. Leaving her hair in waves then put on a necklace that she had hidden away from the family it had a crest on it with a wolf and a raven on the wolf's shoulder. Lily was always curious if it belonged to my family and hoped to one day find out.
Looking in the mirror, Lily thought about how she always seen Max as a brother, but there were times when its hard. When people talk about the royal family she's the leech, someone who's sleeping around with males of all ranks even the royals. Of course Lily has morals, but as if anyone would ask or see that about her.
A knock at the door woke her from these thoughts as she checked one last time before answering it. Black fitted blazer with a dark blue button up dress shirt to match with fitted slacks and dress shoes she was star-struck by this man. He smiles that blazing smile making her blushes deeper at the thoughts behind that smile. "Well don't you look lovely tonight," he says trailing his eyes over her body possessively. Blushing from the comment she distracted herself by grabbing the wrap laying on the chair, but Max then takes it wrapping it over her shoulders. "Ready to go?" he asked leaning close to her ear.
Taking his out stretched arm they head out to the car. He opens her door then jogs to the other side to get in. Turning the car on we pull into traffic that was thankfully light tonight. Lily sat in the car with him his scent driving her crazy when it hasn't before.
Her body felt like it was electrified every part of was leaning towards Max. Then suddenly he reached out to hold her hand lacing his fingers with hers. "Why are you...?" She start to ask trying to pull her hand away but he shakes his head."Trust me okay? I promise to we'll talk," Max says pleading with his eyes for her to trust him. Nodding she kept a hold of his hand.
The royal estate comes into view as well as a house that could be a castle with tall columns, wide doors for even large wolves to walk though came into view. The house itself is as old as the town, being one of the first structures ever built here, it has great meaning to the people here.
Pulling up to the doors, Max parks then skips over to her side to let her out. Lily linked her arm with his as Alisa tapping her foot, starring daggers at them from the top of the stairs. She always had an attitude when Max escorts her any where, though she could care less when Phil does it. Hypocrite.
"Come on you two your already late!" Alisa yells while rushing down the stairs grabbing Max's arm dragging him in the house knocking her down just behind them as they hurry up the stairs. Max turned back pulling his arm from her saying, "You shouldn't treat her that way," he said in a heavy tone. Turning around he walks back to help Lily then guides her up the stairs. "She's fine see? Now come on!" she says still ignoring her presence.
The Luna greets Max while nodding stiffly at Lily. Her face fell a bit when she seen her arm through his, but then smiled at Alisa. "Don't be so harsh on your sister she's just glad to see you. Look Lily's fine and now that everyone is here we can get this dinner party started," she said trying to control the conversation turning around walking in talking over her shoulder as she walked, "You two are seated next to each other in to the dining hall. Lily your father wishes to speak with you after dinner so no sneaking off." "Yes ma'am, thank you," Lily said keeping the answer short as she heads to the main living room where all the rest of the family is waiting.
"Hey don't worry I got you," Max says squeezing her hand reassuringly. Lily nod as Phil walks over kisses her on the cheek and shakes Max's hand. "Finally! I need other people to talk to. Mom and Alisa are driving me crazy. Do either of you know whats going on? Have they told you anything?" Phil asks. It's a first for Alisa not to tell Phil what the big secret is since they shared everything.
"They have yet to say anything to us about what is happening, if anything, I was going to ask you the same question it must be something big for her not to tell you." Max says looking at Phil surprised.
Max pulls out Lily's chair and sits to her right. Phil is to the left with the Luna to his left and and the Alpha King at the head of the table. Alisa sits on the other side with a new face Lily hadn't seen around the pack. Everyone is talking with each other until Alisa taps her glass gently gaining everyone's attention.
"Everyone knows I have been very secretive lately. We wanted to wait so we were better acquainted to introduce my mate Tanner Hilcrest," Alisa says looking warmly to our new guest. Short brown hair, deep blue eyes, relatively built she assumed he was a wolf. At last, Alisa found her mate! Everyone was thrilled that she had finally mated.
"Why didn't you say anything to us? We would have had a big party to introduce your new mate, and now prince," Th Alpha King asks pensively looking at the young wolf strangely.
"My pack had me busy for the last couple months so I couldn't take any time off to come visit. Alisa here always travels for her work, and my home can be a distance to travel at times. I knew at some point I needed to make an introduction since I am now family. It is a pleasure to meet you all," Tanner smiles warmly at everyone. Nature was calling so Lily excused herself to the restrooms.
Making her way to the restrooms doing her business, as she stepped into the hallway Max was walking around the corner. He seems a little off so Lily walked over to him to ask, "Are you alright? Ever since Alisa introduced Tanner you have been stiff as a board. Seems a bit out of character for you."
"I'm not sure I trust this guy. Something seems off about him," he says crossing his arms with a stern look on his face. Cupping his face as Lily turns his head to look her in the eyes,"You can't make her choices for her, she has to make them on her own, and apparently Tanner is her choice. You can't be to mad, if anything she's just growing up it's part of life."
He leans into her hand sighing in relief kissing her palm. "Maybe," he says taking her hand as they walked back to the dining hall. Lily's hand still tingles from where his lips touched her skin as she starts feeling dizzy, but Max suddenly catches her as she continues to be fall.
"Lily....wake up....Lily! " Max's voice trails off as she's being pulled into a trance like state.
