Chapter 201 Corrosion Spreading from Top to Bottom_2
No one paid him any attention, just thinking the kid was daydreaming.
"This is simply a casino!" A believer of Saint Sis stomped his foot in anger, as if suddenly enlightened, shook his head, and turned to leave.
He was a rare clear-headed person, at least for now.
However, that was completely unimportant.
Because as soon as he left, his spot was quickly filled by others rushing in, as if it had never been vacated.
The staff at the tea house were swamped, not only serving steaming red tea and snacks but also maintaining order amongst the impatient customers.
Even the baker from the neighboring street came over out of curiosity to watch the bustling scene at the tea house entrance.
This lively scene continued from dawn till noon, reaching its peak in the early afternoon.
At this point, the truly wealthy people of the Queen's District had awakened.
And after a few days of development, most of them had heard about the stock trading that was happening at the tea house on Queen Street and came over to join in on the excitement.
"12 gold coins 20 silvers!"
In the crowd, a fashionably dressed lady announced a new price loudly, clutching an elegant purse with a look of assured arrogance, "I want 300 shares!"
The servant following her had already queued and received the ticket and red tea, but she didn't even spare him a glance, dismissing him aside with just her eyes.
"Sorry, Madam, that's the previous transaction price. Currently, the purchase order has been posted at 12 gold coins 30 silver coins," the staff member on a high stool swallowed nervously, then glanced at an old gentleman with a cane beside him, "or... you might consider purchasing this gentleman's recently posted sell order at the price of 13 gold coins."
The lady smirked and without hesitation said, "Then 13 gold coins! Hurry, my time is expensive, I can't waste it here."
Rumor has it that by becoming a shareholder of Colin Mining Company, one could meet the esteemed Mr. Colin at the shareholder meeting.
This ticket was a must-have for her!
I must say, her thinking was novel, but with her clear goal, she might just be the most rational person here.
The citizens of Thunder City had gone mad.
"This is insane, it's nothing but a bunch of paper... how high will this go?" A young apprentice stood on the periphery of the crowd, watching the lively scene, and couldn't help but exclaim.
"Who knows! I heard Colin Mining has more diamonds being shipped to the port, this price could double!" Adjusting his cap smeared with grease, his companion beside him looked enviously at those ladies and gentlemen spending lavishly, "I wish I had some capital too!"
This beast, though it has existed in the room for a long time, was probably appearing for the first time in the minds of Thunder City's citizens.
In fact, even the Andes Family probably never thought that the power in their hands was so terrifying.
This frenzy continued until dusk.
Not until the clock struck five did the weary staff get off the high stool, and the people gathered at the tea house entrance returned home reluctantly.
As the fluctuating numbers tugged at everyone's heartstrings, many even forgot to eat until everything ended and they felt hungry.
Thanks to this, the restaurants along the street had a good night of business, and the nearby bakery's shelves were emptied, leading to price increases.
Whether they bought or sold stocks, everyone felt like they made a fortune and began to spend lavishly.
As the guests at the "Red Leaves" tea house gradually dispersed, Punk, who sat at the front of the carriage, finally withdrew his gaze from the crowd, remarking.
"I've lived in Thunder County for so many years, and it's my first time seeing people go mad over a few pieces of paper..."
Though he never thought Mr. Colin intended to sell tea, even racking his brains, he couldn't have imagined that the esteemed gentleman had such intentions.
No wonder he instructed him to remodel in the style of a bank.
He was too conservative!
However, Luo Yan sitting in the carriage was not surprised. He flicked the curtain with his forefinger to glance outside, then drew it shut again.
"This is nothing; they're still using their own money to trade these things. Just wait until the banks in Thunder City start lending to them, you'll witness even more astonishing miracles."
Imagining that scene was impossible, and Punk swallowed nervously, expressing his confusion.
"But I don't understand, who sold the first batch of stocks? Since Colin Mining Company is so valuable, why would anyone sell it?"
This question hit the mark.
Why would anyone sell something so valuable?
Luo Yan smiled mysteriously but did not answer.
"You guess."
Punk smiled wryly and said.
"I... can't guess."
"That means it's not time yet," Luo Yan leaned back in the seat, speaking gently, "Let's return to the hotel."
He had absorbed enough of the Power of Faith.
"Yes, my lord."
Having been accustomed to asking fewer unnecessary questions, Punk responded respectfully, shook the reins in his hand, and resumed the journey toward the Embrace of Dawn Hotel.
Earlier, Luo Yan accepted Princess Erin's invitation to visit the Andes Family's estate for afternoon tea with her, and incidentally, he chatted with Yang Andes about the recent happenings in Thunder City, especially the recent boom in the "secondary market".
Although Luo Yan never stated that he was behind the scenes orchestrating these events, the old fox Andes almost immediately guessed it was his doing and speculated that members of the Colin family participated in bidding during the public auction.
