The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 187: Weaving Shadow's Nest Gains Great Fame

Just as Luo Yan said, Jack didn't enter through the front door but sneaked in through the back door, as most of the Brotherhood usually did.

Although his infamy wasn't as notorious as the Demon King, he was a notorious "thug" in the Queen's District.

Especially since he often helped pirates sell their stolen goods, for the wealthy who profited from overseas trade, the only difference between him and a pirate was that he didn't personally rob.

Of course, since discovering that religion was more profitable than running a gang, he had consciously started to whitewash himself. This included but wasn't limited to investing in real estate with the money earned and donating a trivial portion of the profits to charity.

But all this would take time.

Jack was aware that he might scare the guests here, so he made sure no one saw him until he entered the hall.

After identifying himself to the attendant who approached him, Jack followed him to the room on the top floor.

He originally thought he would see the servant of Lord Demon King waiting here for him but was surprised to see a familiar face behind the door.

Jack stood there stunned, his mouth gaping unconsciously, his expression as if he'd seen a ghost.

He could not believe he would actually see the esteemed Lord Demon King himself on the most bustling Queen Street of Thunder City!

"Esteemed..."

"Just call me Mr. Colin." Luo Yan said in a calm tone, having watched Jack falter with his words, and then looked at the attendant behind Jack, "You may leave."

"Yes, boss." The hotel attendant bowed slightly in salute, turned, and exited, closing the door behind him.

Jack watched the attendant leave with a peculiar expression, momentarily unsure if that fellow knew who his boss really was.

Of course, he was actually more curious about how the guests staying at this hotel would feel at this moment.

If they knew they were in the same hotel as the legendary Demon King, he wondered if they would wet themselves in fear.

In comparison, he, as a "notorious bandit," seemed less frightening.

"Are you surprised?"

"Yes..." Jack swallowed hard and said with a wry smile, "I truly didn't expect to see you here."

"You'd better get used to it," Luo Yan said, taking a sip of the tea in his cup, placing the cup down before continuing, "I have a strong premonition that you will often hear my name around here."

The moment he heard this, Jack, though his face showed little reaction, was internally astir with waves of shock.

Previously, he had a vague feeling that somewhere along the line, the entirety of Thunder County seemed penetrated and riddled with traces of the Demon King as if resembling the Great Graveyard.

Now, having seen with his own eyes the Demon King sitting in a hotel on Thunder City's most bustling street, he finally confirmed it was not his illusion—

The Demon King's corruption of the Campbell Duchy was likely far deeper than he had imagined!

At this thought, Jack looked at Luo Yan with newfound respect, his upturned gaze as if in the presence of a true Divine.

"Yes, my lord."

Luo Yan nodded, acknowledging him, and stated the purpose for calling him here.

"I have two tasks for you to undertake."

Jack replied respectfully.

"Please instruct me, and I will do my utmost to complete them."

Luo Yan continued,

"I recall you have a private port near the swamp on the southwestern coast?"

"It's not exactly a port, it's merely a small fishing village..." Jack replied respectfully, then paused before asking, "Do you have something you need to bring in?"

Luo Yan replied,

"Sort of, but I need something loaded onto a ship from there."

Jack was taken aback, blurting out,

"Loaded onto a ship?"

"That's right," Luo Yan, not concealing his intentions, candidly laid out his plan, "I have a shipment that needs to be transported from Silver Pine Forest to the port in Thunder City, and I want to use your port to do it."

Jack looked dumbfounded at the Demon King, momentarily at a loss for words.

Loading shipments onto a vessel at the smuggling port to transport to Thunder City's port?

What kind of operation is this?!

Usually, ships unloading at his port were to evade Campbell Duchy's customs duties or were pirate plunders.

In all his years of smuggling, it was the first time he'd encountered a reverse approach.

And why insist on shipping?

It could just as well be disguised as a land caravan!

Jack couldn't figure it out.

In truth, he had already tasted the benefits of "telling a story," but his experience and knowledge weren't yet rich enough to grasp its depth.

Luo Yan wasn't concerned with the little money made from selling goods.

While that could earn quite a bit, it was insignificant compared to his true ambitions.

He wanted to tell a story about the Colin Family.

The great but low-key family had extensive lands overseas where the mountains were made of gold, the rivers flowed with honey, the fruit on the trees were coveted even by Elves, the spiders wove webs with silk, and shells held diamonds instead of pearls.

And as the eldest son of the Colin Family, he came to Thunder City with an important purpose—to appreciate the diligence and intelligence of Thunder City's residents.

He intended to share the colonial wealth with the locals, jointly developing this fertile and prosperous land to achieve mutual benefit for both parties.
