The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 180 Demon King's Informants Are Everywhere_2

The wealthy district of Thunder City, located in the central area with its sprawling estates, was graced by an eagle-knight statue. Like a watchful hound, it gazed sharply over the opulent main street, its razor-like talons guarding the intricately carved marble gate adorned with exquisite relief patterns.

Almost no passersby could be seen in front of that stunning gate; only the occasional carriage would trundle by.

Yet, on this street, which needed the least amount of illumination, stood the densest assembly of streetlights in all of Thunder City. Almost every ten to twenty steps, another lamp post rose, and even the pitch-black iron columns were engraved with ornate and elegant designs.

Thanks to its idyllic setting, strong public safety, and cultured atmosphere, this district boasted the highest property prices in all of Thunder City.

Those residing here were either incredibly wealthy or immensely powerful.

The residents here were either nobles from the surrounding regions of Thunder City, wealthy merchants conducting massive trade in the colonies, or ship captains who owned fleets of a dozen vessels, each with assets in the nine-figure range at a minimum.

To possess such a tremendous piece of land in the midst of so many illustrious figures was a testament to the unmatched value of this estate—and to the extraordinary status of its owner.

Indeed, such was the truth.

This estate belonged to the Andes Family.

As the uncrowned kings of Thunder City, the Andes Family had their tendrils extending into every facet of the city's industries. From the City Hall to the Underground Street, there was no place untouched by their network of informants. And this "silent rule" had endured for hundreds of years.

It would be no exaggeration to say that Linte Isaac created Thunder City, but the Andes Family was the force that truly made the city great.

Even more remarkable, they did not just dwell in the glories of the past—they always held the reins to the future firmly in their grasp.

Not long ago, the new Duke of the Campbell Duchy had visited his subjects here, and now, Princess Erin, the Duke's younger sister, after arriving in Thunder City, had also been invited to stay here.

To be honest, as a princess of the Campbell Duchy, Erin had been raised with strict discipline since childhood, leading a life governed by rules under the exacting guidance of her father. Yet, living in a castle had still afforded her a life of luxury and abundance.

But even so, upon moving into this estate, she was utterly overwhelmed by its sheer opulence.

Here, gold seemed to be the least valuable decoration. Treasures and rare commodities were extravagantly stacked in every corner, as if cost were no concern, merely adding one more flourish upon the estate's unparalleled grandeur.

Here, even the most inconspicuous stool had its inner cushion made of velvet, stitched with floral patterns using golden thread.

And this was far from the most extravagant aspect.

The most unbelievable detail for Erin was that even the gardeners tending the flowers, the grooms caring for the horses, and the servants working in the kitchen wore uniforms crafted from silk.

The servants' appearances and demeanors were also utterly unlike that of ordinary servants. On several occasions, Erin couldn't help but instinctively inquire about their family names, as they resembled nobles educated in courtly etiquette from birth—much like herself.

Compared to this estate, Campbell Castle seemed like a grand prison sitting in the middle of an expansive countryside!

She finally understood why her father had harbored such envy toward the people here during his lifetime and had repeatedly attempted to impose additional taxes on them.

Though he had never admitted to the jealousy outright, as his daughter, Erin could discern it keenly from the look in his eyes.

Even the illustrious Aaron Campbell, Duke of Campbell, had once envied the wealth held by the common folk of this city.

Her older brother, Duke Edward, also harbored a deep-seated envy for the people here, though he expressed it differently than their father.

There was no fault in aspiring for a better life.

She could see that her brother genuinely wished to improve the Campbell Duchy, striving to surpass their father's legacy by building upon the foundations he had laid.

She, too, hoped to be of help, at least to share some of the burdens weighing on her brother's shoulders.

Perhaps in doing so, she might remind her two brothers that they were, after all, family...

The dressing room.

A girl of sixteen or seventeen sat before a mirror, being assisted by several maids as she changed into a gown in preparation for the upcoming banquet.

Her golden hair, like flowing sunlight, naturally cascaded over her slender shoulders and down to her waist. Her lightly powdered cheeks resembled freshly blossomed roses, while her fair, delicate skin was as radiant as mutton jade. Around her neck hung a diamond necklace that sparkled like starlight.

Looking at the mirror's reflection of the gown in shades of imperial gold and ivory interwoven, Erin's face lit up with a satisfied and enchanting smile. She hopped off the stool and lifted her skirt to twirl in a circle.

Vanity is a trait shared by all; Erin was no exception.

Although she bore the mission bestowed upon her by the Light of Praise, she was, after all, just a sixteen- or seventeen-year-old girl, having recently completed her coming-of-age ceremony.

Watching the princess twirl in front of the mirror, one of the maids, in an elegant and proper tone, offered a heartfelt compliment.

"You are breathtaking, Your Highness. You will surely be the brightest star of the banquet."

"Thank you. I think so as well," Erin replied, her lips curving slightly upward, a hint of pride shining on her face as she spoke in her melodious voice. "And it's all thanks to your excellent taste in selecting this gown from the wardrobe for me."

"Your Highness flatters me. Everything looks stunning on you. My duty was merely to choose the gown that best matched your mood today."
