The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 173: Hell Has No Delicacies

As it turns out, Luo Yan really shouldn't have had any significant expectations for the "delicacies" of the Underworld.

Even in a place like Demon City, the food he could accept could be counted on one hand.

No matter the culinary heritage of the Elf Clan in the isolated Utopia, for the Dark Night Elves of the Gray Wind Tribe, those traditions were over a thousand years ago.

The banquet was held in a gigantic tree house, where all the furniture seemed to have grown directly from the trunks. Whether it was the tables and chairs or the lamps entwined with vines.

The vegetarian dishes were delivered by fluttering Elemental Spirits, entering through the windows like flickering fireflies, placing plates of oddly shaped foods onto the uneven long table, accompanied by melodious music.

Looking at the myriad of "delicacies" competing with each other in the plates, Luo Yan was momentarily at a loss as to where to start and could only seek help by looking at Terrell seated next to him.

The latter seemed to notice the Lord Demon King's embarrassment, and immediately picked up a thumb-sized green worm that was doing sit-ups, dipped it in some unknown sauce, and stuffed it into his mouth, chewing with exaggerated delight and satisfaction.

For a moment, Luo Yan suddenly felt like he had eaten all of tomorrow's and the day after tomorrow's dinners, feeling more than full.

Seeing Terrell looking at him expectantly, he could only reach out and pop a berry into his mouth.

His intuition told him that if he didn't eat something, the other party might demonstrate the previous action once more for him.

So sour!

Biting into the pulp, Luo Yan felt a lemon-like sourness instantly overwhelm his taste buds, making him salivate uncontrollably, almost causing the berry to slip out of his mouth.

But before long, the lemon-like sourness transformed into a rich, lingering sweetness.

A look of surprise appeared on Luo Yan's face.

Perhaps lowering his expectations was the reason; he found the flavor of the berry unexpectedly good.

"What is this?"

As soon as he finished his question, Sherry, sitting to the side of the long table, waved her hand and answered boastfully.

"This is a new variety I've cultivated by grafting Thunder County grapes onto the Hidden Vine! It doesn't have a name yet! Lord Demon King, could you give it a name?"

Luo Yan looked at Sherry in surprise, not expecting that this little girl had such skills.

"It's an improved grape variety... I thought it was hawthorn."

"Haha, surprised?" Sherry's voice, crisp and melodious, continued with pride as if she could not wait to point her nose to the sky, "Not only does it whet one's appetite, but the wine made from it is also very delicious!"

While speaking, she looked at Luo Yan expectantly, encouraging him with her eyes to try the wine from the silver jug.

As she wished, Luo Yan took a sip.

The fruity wine's clear and sweet flavor indeed surprised him, making him want to take a second sip.

"Not bad."

Putting down the wine glass, Luo Yan complimented, and after thinking for a while, he spoke.

"At first taste, it reminded me of my homeland, and the second sip brought to mind the moonlight... Just in time for the Mist Forest to regain its light, let's call it Moonlight Brew. As for that berry, how about Moonlight Fruit?"

He was not very good at naming things, and didn't think the names he came up with could be more poetic than those of the Dark Night Elves present.

However, upon hearing the names he suggested, Sherry looked delighted, her rosy cheeks brimming with joy.

In contrast, Helen's face showed a puzzled expression.

"Does Demon City have moonlight?"

Luo Yan cleared his throat softly.

"There is a Purple Crystal Dome there... even more exaggerated than here, said to have been seized from the Dwarves."

Helen nodded in realization.

"Oh, I see..."

Upon reflecting, the dome on the fourth level of the Maze seemed to have been modeled after the one in Demon City, and Lord Demon King even made a special trip to Demon City to repair it.

She almost forgot about this matter.

...

As various delicacies successively came to the table, the melodious music pushed the banquet atmosphere to its peak.

Observing the array of foods, Luo Yan found his horizons broadened.

Even as the master of the Maze, he never imagined that there could be so many edible items in his labyrinth.

What surprised him even more was that these oddly shaped ingredients could form such magical combinations.

For example, a famous dish called Moonlight Salad, with Silver Leaf Grass and Leaf Oil, petals, and Fluorescent Mushroom as its main ingredients.

This was nothing.

Yet, the star-like particles that adorned the dish like caviar were Ghost Firefly eggs.

Another example is the Starlight Soup, with its deep blue broth mixed with suspended substances resembling fluorescent powder, evoking images of Van Gogh's paintings. Had he not been proficient in Magic Potion, he wouldn't have recognized it as a mixture of Night Lily pollen and stone snail shell ground together.

Luo Yan admitted these foods were indeed beautiful and creative.

If he didn't have to eat them, but rather viewed them solely as art pieces, he might have been willing to spend a lot of money on them.

Of course, the premise would be using Joss Paper.

Luo Yan tried a bit of what appeared to be the most harmless jelly, its smooth texture and sweet flavor surprisingly good, a bit like chilled mango.

Thinking it was some kind of fruit jam, he couldn't help but ask curiously.

"This tastes quite nice, what is it made from?"

Sherry, who was sitting not far away, caught sight of what he was holding. Her eyes immediately lit up as she excitedly spoke.
