The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 172: What Do You Think of My Daughter?_2

Looking at the thoughtful Demon King, Terrell smiled and continued speaking in a gentle tone.

"Thank you for thinking that way, and thank you for giving us the opportunity to enjoy stability. If our philosophy of life can inspire you in any way, it would be our honor."

Luo Yan probably caught on to what he was implying. This guy was worried that he might follow in the footsteps of the previous Demon King, Reggie Dragon—recklessly stirring things up, throwing punches all over the place, ending up with nothing to show for it. Not only did he starve everyone, but he also caused his own downfall.

The Dark Night Elves of the Gray Wind Tribe were very satisfied with their current life and hoped it could continue indefinitely if possible.

Terrell tried to use tactful wording to express his wish for Luo Yan to be a ruler who embraced status quo, spending more time enjoying life rather than taking Hell's commands too seriously.

To be honest, it was a very attractive proposal, and Luo Yan wasn't really the type to enjoy constant upheaval.

Recently, it had been his players stirring things up; all he did was provide them with a stage to perform freely.

"You genuinely have given me some insight—I hadn't even considered these matters before."

Luo Yan paused for a moment as he spoke, then shifted topics and continued.

"Well, let's leave philosophical questions aside for now. Let's talk about some practical issues. I want to know how your lives have been recently. Is there anything inconvenient or in need of improvement?"

Terrell shook his head and said with a smile.

"For now, nothing at all. We are very satisfied with the current situation, and regarding this point, you must have already sensed it from the enthusiasm of my tribe members. I can assure you, it's coming from their hearts... at least in this matter, I have no way of directing them otherwise."

As he said this, there wasn't a trace of flattery in his tone.

Among all the Demon Kings the Gray Wind Tribe had sworn loyalty to over the generations, none had ever cared so deeply about their demands, treating them as true citizens rather than mere statistics on a war report.

If there was anything to nitpick over, it would probably just be the noise made by humans from Mist Town.

However, this issue had both pros and cons.

While they didn't enjoy the noisy human mercenaries and adventurers, they couldn't resist the wide array of goods that arrived along with them.

Prior to this, many of their necessities had to be obtained through plundering.

Now, they merely needed to exchange items that took only a little time to find in the forest or ones they considered flawed artistic creations.

Occasionally, even human minstrels, commissioned by the adventurer guild controlled by the Demon King, would offer a handsome reward for help composing songs and lyrics.

Seeing that Terrell wasn't being polite but truly felt this way, Luo Yan smiled and nodded.

"Since everything is well with you, I can rest assured."

"You've already done more than enough for us. As for the remaining trivial matters, we'll handle them ourselves. Besides, instead of focusing on us, we'd rather you concentrate more on your own life."

Terrell watched him with a warm smile, then suddenly seemed to think of something, shifting the conversation.

"Speaking of which, I have a question I'd like to ask, if it's convenient for you."

"How will I know if it's convenient unless you ask?" Luo Yan chuckled and replied in a casual tone, "Since you've mentioned it, feel free to ask."

Terrell looked into his eyes and suddenly posed an unexpected question.

"What do you think of my two daughters?"

Luo Yan froze briefly and instinctively responded.

"They are reliable subordinates—I feel confident entrusting my back to them."

Honestly, due to minimal interaction, his impression of the sisters wasn't particularly deep—less so even than that of Yousi and Mi Xi, the lively pair.

However, just as he tried to search his memory for some thoughts about them, Terrell, sitting across from him, threw out another unexpected topic—

"Allow me to be bold and ask, if you had to choose one of them as your partner, who would you lean toward?"

This time, Luo Yan didn't just freeze briefly; he was completely stunned.

"I've never considered this before—this question feels rather abrupt to me. Not to mention their own thoughts... They're elves, and I'm human. Do you think that's appropriate?"

Rather than simply surprised, Luo Yan felt more caught off guard at that moment.

After all, when Terrell posed this question, there had been no lead-up at all.

The prior tone of their conversation didn't carry any hint of such implications either.

Yet this old father showed no awkwardness, straightforwardly continuing the topic.

"...Our traditions may discourage contact with surface societies, but they do not forbid cross-race companionship. From what I know of my daughters, they harbor favorable feelings toward you—even if that may lean more into respect."

Luo Yan spoke with a hint of headache.

"You've pointed out that it's respect. Perhaps to them, I'm a competent Demon King but not necessarily a suitable partner."

Terrell chuckled and spoke softly.

"Respect's other face is admiration, or at the very least, attraction. As for deeper feelings, they can be fostered with time and interaction. When it comes to being attracted to someone, I think you can afford to be more honest. To us, this is certainly nothing shameful to discuss."
