The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 165: Shelter and Resettlement_3

"Of course it counts," [Emotion Stable] nodded and continued, "I've already entrusted someone else to send it for you."

Robert's face lit up with a relieved smile, as calm as a cloud drifting on the ground.

"Really? Thank you... You will surely be rewarded."

[Emotion Stable] shrugged.

He didn't really care much, as this was just a game to him. But hearing sincere gratitude from Robert still warmed his heart.

Not far away, a skeleton soldier walked into the lobby of the inn holding a Translation Crystal, calling out to the well-fed and rehydrated villagers.

"Is there anyone here who knows how to raise animals? Preferably someone who's raised cattle!"

His ID was [Beast Senior], a name originally chosen with the intention of playing as a Druid, but upon joining, he discovered there was no such class.

However, this didn't bother him at all.

Especially after realizing this game had even greater freedom than he had imagined, he quickly found a new life pursuit—owning a massive farm!

Though there wasn't any cultivable land around the Great Graveyard for now, he could start by developing animal husbandry.

The money needed to buy livestock had already been saved up through completing quests, but the only problem was that he didn't know how to farm, raise cattle, or even build a barn. Setting up the materials piled on an empty plot of land had already proven to be a headache.

Just when he didn't know what to do, he happened to spot the group of refugees fleeing from Twilight Province.

These people might barely be literate, but they surely knew how to farm—after all, those skills were their bread and butter.

Recalling the decree issued by Lord Demon King stating that helping NPCs find work could earn Contribution Points, [Beast Senior] immediately had an idea.

And, as he had hoped, these refugees didn't disappoint him.

Almost as soon as his words fell, a middle-aged man dressed in tattered clothes wiped his sweet potato-stained hands and eagerly raised his arm.

"Me, I've raised cattle before!"

[Beast Senior] glanced at the villagers around them and could tell from their expressions that this man wasn't bluffing.

Recognizing that this man might actually be skilled, [Beast Senior] became overjoyed and enthusiastically grasped the man's shoulder.

"Excellent! I plan to build a barn nearby and raise a few dairy cows... Do you have any good suggestions?"

Though the skeletal grip on his shoulder startled him slightly, recalling that the Undead here hadn't harmed anyone, the man mustered his courage and replied.

"If you provide me with materials, I can build it for you. Just constructing a barn—it's not a difficult task at all."

For an experienced herder, it was indeed not difficult. Especially for this man, who not only had built cattle barns but also pigsties and stables for the Lord.

[Beast Senior] was thrilled upon hearing this and patted the man's shoulder with delight.

"Alright then, why don't you start working for me directly? I can pay you wages and arrange a better place for you to live!"

The man asked cautiously.

"Can I bring my family along?"

"Of course!" [Beast Senior] said generously, "The Beast Farm welcomes you! Though we currently only have land and nothing else... I promise that eventually, we'll have everything we need!"

Worst-case scenario, he could take on a few more quests to earn more money.

Hearing that one of Lord Demon King's underlings was willing to take him in, the man's face broke into an elated smile, while the villagers around him shot him envious glances.

Everyone present knew in their hearts that charity was only temporary—it may solve immediate hunger but couldn't solve future sustenance.

No matter how merciful Lord Demon King might be, it was impossible for him to support them forever.

Only by acquiring work could they truly secure a place to belong.

Looking at the eager expressions of the refugees, the Lizardman Monk pondered for a moment, then turned his gaze to the elderly man among them who seemed most respected.

"Once you've settled down, we will assign jobs to you. I hope you can register your family as units and let me know what professions you specialize in."

"No problem! Can you give me paper and pens? I can start registering them now and will finish by twilight tomorrow at the latest." Pierre the village chief nodded seriously, speaking sincerely.

Naturally, he hoped his fellow villagers could take root here as quickly as possible.

During their journey escaping toward the Vortex Sea coast, they had seen too many starving and exhausted wanderers just like themselves.

As the war dragged on, refugees who lost their land would only grow in number.

He had a strong premonition that it wouldn't be long before other homeless refugees would flock to this place as they had.

Job opportunities would be limited.

The sooner they settled, the more favorable it would be for them.

The Lizardman Monk looked somewhat surprised at the elderly man.

"You're literate?"

"Somewhat... I once served in the military of Ryan Kingdom, where the instructors taught us how to spell. After retiring, I returned to my hometown, Holy Oak Village, and earned the recognition of the local lord to become the village chief..." Pierre the village chief disclosed his background without reservation.

He hoped this openness would earn him favor with the other party.

And, as he had expected, the Lizardman Monk nodded approvingly after hearing his background. Then, in his scratchy voice, he said.

"I will prepare paper and pens for you."

"Additionally, Lord Demon King is very interested in your background. Perhaps it won't be long before we assign you a role better suited to your abilities."

Pierre the village chief's face showed astonishment as he instinctively glanced around, but did not spot the cloaked man.

"That lord... Is he here?"

"He is everywhere."

The Lizardman Monk clasped his hands together devoutly, gazing meaningfully at the bewildered elder, and spoke as if in prayer.

"So never try to deceive that lord."

"He is always watching over you."
