The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 162: Hospitable Great Graveyard_3

"What the hell! A ghost!!"

[Urban Contract Worker] tossed the shovel in his hand, which predictably passed through the ghost's chest and landed on the tree behind it.

Looking at the four skeletons freaking out, the ghost floating beneath the tree wore an expression of exasperation and couldn't help but throw out a sarcastic remark.

"What are you guys talking about? Aren't you all ghosts yourselves?"

[Emotionally Stable]: "..."

[Want to Be a Corpse]: "Huh, makes sense!?"

They were undead themselves—what ghost were they afraid of!

Realizing this, the four players immediately calmed down and picked up the shovels they had thrown on the ground.

Looking at the four skeletons now holding shovels, the ghost floating above the snow curiously asked.

"So, what exactly are you guys doing?"

The clanging noises here had persisted for days. The ghost thought the Andes Family had remembered this old mine and came over to take a look.

To his surprise, it was a group of skeleton soldiers busy working instead.

Saint Sis above...

Undead were building a house!

He had never seen anything so bizarre!

Though he didn't intend to be rude, the four skeleton soldiers couldn't help themselves and began shouting loudly upon hearing his remark.

"Isn't it obvious?"

"Yeah!"

"Clearly, we're building a house!"

The ghost suspiciously glanced at them and then at the ruins nearby.

"Are you sure?"

[Emotionally Stable] gripped the shovel tighter.

"Are you here to pick a fight or what!"

"No... I'm not looking for trouble. I just don't understand why you're doing this." Looking at the aggressive skeleton soldiers, the ghost felt a bit frightened and instinctively floated back a step. "Aren't you undead? Do undead need houses?"

[Urban Contract Worker] said seriously.

"No, we don't need houses! But you could think of it as our job."

"Exactly!" [Want to Be a Corpse] nodded vigorously and said with a powerful voice, "This is a task assigned to us by Lord Demon King!"

The ghost's expression suddenly softened into one of pity.

"Work? That's tough... struggling to make a living while alive is one thing, but still having to work after death—that's just too miserable."

[Late Potato in Office]: "..."

The four skeletons were too stunned to respond. The ghost floated around the ruins, observing them before offering his critique.

"I think I get it; you're trying to build a house, right? Then why don't you learn from those... uh, your companions nearby?"

[Emotionally Stable] took a deep breath and replied.

"They're too busy to teach us, plus we're technically competitors."

"Oh, that makes sense..." The ghost nodded knowingly and continued, "But still, at the very least you should know to clear the snow off the ground first, then build an elevated foundation with wooden stakes and beams. That way, the snowmelt won't seep into the house, and you'll prevent the weight of the house from pressing it into the ground."

The group was momentarily stunned, then exclaimed in unison.

"Whoa!"

"That makes sense!"

"Wait, you know how to build houses?!"

Seeing the four skeletons suddenly become enthusiastic, the ghost nervously floated back a bit and nodded with a hint of tension.

"When I was alive, I worked as a carpenter for the Lord. Building houses? Of course, I know a thing or two... But what I just said isn't a matter of skill, it's common sense..."

[Emotionally Stable] looked at him with eager eyes, selectively ignoring the latter half of his statement.

"Can you help us?"

The ghost hesitated, then nodded.

"I can, but what's in it for me?"

The four players froze and exchanged glances.

Indeed—

Why should he help them?

At this moment, [Urban Contract Worker] suddenly had an idea and asked.

"What's your name?"

The ghost replied without hesitation.

"Robert. Why?"

[Urban Contract Worker]: "Well then, Mr. Robert, do you still have any living relatives?"

"Relatives? Relatives..." Robert's expression suddenly turned sorrowful, as if lost in distant memories.

After a moment, he sighed heavily and spoke.

"Alright, I understand... I'll help you, but in return, you must do one thing for me."

Seeing the NPC agree to help, the four players were instantly delighted.

[Emotionally Stable] looked at him eagerly and said excitedly.

"What's the task?"

[Urban Contract Worker] chimed in enthusiastically.

"Just tell us what to do! We love doing quests!"

Robert, who had never encountered undead so passionate about work, couldn't help but worry about their mental health. However, noticing their sheer enjoyment, he decided not to intervene.

"It's not too troublesome—just deliver some coal to my child in Silver Pine Town. It's so cold, and I'm worried they'll freeze… You guys have dug up quite a bit, and I figure you don't need it."

Building houses was one thing; surely these undead didn't need heating.

At least, he'd never seen that before.

[Emotionally Stable] nodded eagerly and immediately replied.

"No problem! Deal!"

Seeing the exuberant enthusiasm of the skeleton soldier, Robert added in a quieter voice.

"Just don't scare them! Drop it quietly at their door while it's dark."

...

With guidance from their ghostly mentor, the four made great strides in their construction progress.

They first cleared the snow from the ground, then hammered wooden stakes into the soil, followed by connecting them with beams to create an elevated wooden platform—a basic foundation.
