Chapter 65: New Guardians Tournament (5)
Three days passed while Jason worked fervently with Adam and Dani to create their equipment. Jason even ended up spending his remaining 19 PP on two skills to help to shore up his knowledge in armour and weapon creations.
The first one he purchased was Novice Medium Armour Creation for 7 PP. Which was pretty self-explanatory, while the second was his third Apprentice level skill. Apprentice Melee Schematics! The 12 PP that it had cost him was entirely worth it, in his opinion.
Jason grinned while he thought about the personalised, upgraded version of the Riot that he had created for Dani. 'I can't wait to see how the Storm performs in this contest, but then again, Adam's Orochi should cause some surprises.'
He had named Adam's short, single-edged sword after a beast that had not been seen in the area since his grandfather's younger years. The Orochi beast was a great serpent spanning fifty metres in length. Jason thought it was quite an apt name to give to his newest creation.
On top of that, he had succeeded in creating suitable equipment for the pair of them. Dani's outfit resembled her father's somewhat, except Jason had opted to make it tight-fitting to her figure. The leather he had used to create it came from a mouse type beast and had the surprising ability to silence the popping noise that usually accompanied Dani's teleports.
It was needless to say that she was thrilled with her equipment. Adam's was a bit more difficult due to his ability. It featured skin that was elastic in nature and covered in black fur. He had then opted to place green coloured strengthened leather combined with dyed green wooden plates over it.
In the end, it looked like green samurai armour with black fur between the gaps. Since he did not have any better ideas for the head section, he copied Dani's and gave Adam a black hood with a green cloth lower face mask. Naturally, Jason had placed Star Gear Symbols on both of their armours and weapons in subtle positions.
'I've done all I can. It's up to those two now.' Jason sighed as he finished closing up the shop. It had been announced the day before that the tournament would start today, and both Dani and Adam had picked up their equipment early that morning. Since Rust's arrival, the shop had been queued out of the street every day.
To camouflage the Orochi and the Storm, Jason had mass-produced Primal's and a single-edged short blade called the Fang. Both of these were far inferior to the pair that he expected to steal the show.
"Hurry up, or we'll be late!" Harry anxiously complained as he eyed the other store owners who were also closing up to head over to the venue.
"There's no rush. We have plenty of cash to get access to the good seats." Jason chuckled as he watched Harry fidgeting.
Apparently, charging an entry fee for this event was a significant income for the Lord. However, Jason planned to get tickets for a private room close to the stage to not miss a single moment!
Jason recognised many people on the street as they moved towards the giant jellyfish outside of town. Its size still invoked a sense of awe in him, but it was not as bad as when he had first seen it.
As they joined the queue to enter one of two tentacles used as the entrances, Jason finally got a look at what the Lord's regular Guardians looked like. Ten Guardians stood in front of the space in the tentacle that would allow the spectators to reach the viewing areas. They were all wearing matching bright blue metallic armour.
'Tch, it looks like it's of higher quality than what I've made, but it doesn't seem to hide any special features.' Jason cast a critical gaze over the Guardians equipment as he evaluated it. The Guardians smiled back in response, thinking that he appreciated just how unique their gear was.
However, Jason was actually disappointed. He expected the equipment of the Guardians to have some unique features or something. But to his eyes, they were just chunks of metal designed to take as much damage as possible before they were broken.
Jason almost had a heart attack when they asked for one iron credit for him to have access to a private room for the whole event. However, Jason felt much better when he discovered that he would have to pay ten copper credits each day per person if he asked for a seat in the stands.
The event was set to last for five days, so it would have cost him an iron credit anyway to pay for both him and Harry! This was Jason's treat since Harry had been exceptionally hard-working over the past few days. Once the Guardian dealing with the transaction confirmed his payment, he received directions to his private room.
The interior of the entire tentacle was hollow, and when they stepped inside of it, Jason became confused. 'How are we meant to get up there?' As Jason began to frown, he felt the metallic floor start to vibrate before it suddenly shot upwards through the hollow tentacle!
Jason feared that he would lose control of his bowels initially before his body became accustomed to the feeling. Then the experience just became exhilarating! The speed that they were travelling at was simply incredible!
Jason still felt a little breathless when they found their way to their room. The door clicked as he opened it to discover an expansive space that housed five comfortable looking couches. They were arranged in a semi-circle facing a half wall that looked out onto the massive metal stage.
A long table was placed between the half wall and couches and had several plates of various meats and jugs full of a selection of beverages. Harry gasped when he saw the scene. After all, this was the most luxurious thing he had ever experienced in his long life!
The pair made themselves comfortable and enjoyed the treats while chatting happily for the next hour. The stadium became noisy as the basic stands began to fill up, which made Jason even more excited!
The whole place suddenly went quiet when the dome-shaped ceiling opened up to display the night sky outside. The torches set in the stadium stands and the private rooms gave off a fantastic atmosphere as a single Guardian slowly made her way onto the stage. Without wasting anyone's time, she made a single statement.
"Let the Guardian Selection Tournament… Begin!"
