Chapter 11: Chapter 11: I'm Married
The new day dawned, with the first rays of sunlight creeping through the windows and spilling into Leo's room. He woke up bright and early, stretching his body with a big yawn and flexing his muscles. Since the number of male students was odd, he got a single room instead of the usual double - occupancy. "This is just perfect. I've never been a fan of sharing a dorm room, but hey, if it was a hot girl, that would be a whole different story." Leo grinned to himself, muttering under his breath.
The little fox also opened its eyes early. With a nimble jump, it landed on Leo's shoulder, its fluffy tail swaying gently. The two of them stepped out of the room together. The fresh morning air rushed towards them, carrying the unique coolness and dampness of dawn. Leo took a deep breath, savoring the peaceful atmosphere. "Rekdo's mornings are way quieter than those at the Spirit Hall Academy." He whispered to the little fox, "Come on, little guy, let's go grab some grub."
When they arrived at the cafeteria, Leo spotted Aria and Ava right away. The two girls were sitting at a table, chatting softly. Leo gave them a slight nod as a greeting and then found a seat for himself. Due to the academy's tight budget, the breakfast options were limited, but the portions were generous enough so no one would go hungry.
Not long after Leo sat down, Blake walked in with Ryan and the others. Beside him was a chubby red - haired guy. It was Max, the last student at Rekdo. As soon as Max entered the cafeteria, his eyes locked onto Aria and Ava. His mouth fell open slightly, and he swallowed hard, not even trying to hide his lecherous look.
Blake noticed this immediately. He elbowed Max hard and said in a low, stern voice, "Cut it out! Keep your dirty thoughts to yourself!"
Max's face turned sour. He grumbled, "What the hell? You're gonna make a move again? Come on, Boss Dai. Even if you're the boss, you gotta throw the rest of us a bone, right?"
Blake was already in a foul mood because Aria seemed to have a crush on Leo. Hearing Max's words, he almost lost his temper on the spot. Grinding his teeth, he growled, "I told you to behave, or you'll be sorry!" Then he strode deeper into the cafeteria.
Blake's sudden outburst left Max completely confused. He looked at Ryan and Xiao Wu in bewilderment, but the two just exchanged a glance, shrugged, and didn't say a word. They both knew that Blake had feelings for Aria and that they had a pre - arranged engagement, yet Aria wasn't interested in Blake at all. Instead, she seemed quite taken with Leo.
After getting his food, Blake was about to find a random seat, but after a moment of hesitation, he walked over to Leo. "Leo, I need to talk to you." He said straightforwardly as soon as he sat down.
Leo saw Blake approaching and had a pretty good idea of what he was going to say. But he still put on an innocent look and asked, "What's up, Senior Dai?"
Blake stole a quick look in Aria's direction, then leaned in close to Leo and whispered, "Aria and I have been engaged since we were kids. So do me a favor and stay away from her. Don't even think about hitting on her."
Leo smiled faintly and said casually, "No worries, Senior Dai. I won't. Besides, I'm already married."
"Clang!" Blake was leaning on the table with one hand, talking to Leo in a low voice. When he heard this, he lost his balance and slid right off the table. Luckily, he reacted fast and managed to catch himself with his hands, so he didn't end up flat on the floor.
This sudden commotion immediately drew everyone's attention. Max, with a mouthful of steamed bun, stared blankly at Blake. He was thinking, "What on earth is Boss Dai up to?"
On the other side, Ava saw this scene and quietly sidled up to Aria. "Aria, do you have a crush on Leo?" she asked in a hushed tone.
Aria's face flushed slightly when she heard this. Memories of herself falling into Leo's arms the day before flashed through her mind. She quickly shook her head and denied it. "There's nothing between me and Leo."
Ava blinked and asked, "Then do you like Blake?" As she spoke, she covered her mouth in an exaggerated way, her eyes wide open.
"Absolutely not!" Aria exclaimed, her voice almost an octave higher. Ava was nearly startled by her outburst.
Ava pursed her lips. "Such a strong reaction. It seems she really isn't into Blake at all."
Back to Leo and Blake. Blake quickly tidied up his clothes and coughed a few times, trying to act calm and ease the awkwardness. Then he whispered again, "Leo, you're really married?"
"Yup." Leo nodded without hesitation.
"That's great!" Blake exclaimed, clapping his hands together. His face was filled with relief.
Leo rolled his eyes at Blake's over - the - top excitement. "Look at you, acting like you're afraid Aria's gonna be snatched away any second. I really don't get how Aria ended up with you in the original story. Just because you were engaged since childhood?"
But Blake quickly regained his senses. He stroked his chin and sized Leo up. "Leo, you're not just pulling my leg, are you? You're only twelve. How could you be married?"
Leo shot him a look. "Believe it or not." Then he turned away and ignored Blake.
Blake had no choice but to believe Leo for now. He thought, even if he didn't want to, what else could he do? He couldn't keep pestering Leo about it. With that thought, he suddenly found his food more appetizing. His spirits lifted, and he felt great. He had been tossing and turning all night yesterday, worrying about how to talk to Leo about this.
Now that his mind was at ease, Blake was in a great mood. He waved to Max and then introduced to everyone, "Let me introduce you all. This fat guy is another student in our academy. His name is Max, and his martial spirit is the Grass Phoenix."
Max, upon hearing this, excitedly waved towards Aria and Ava. But the two girls just gave him a quick glance and then turned away. This made Max deflated. "Figures. I'm still not popular with girls." He sighed inwardly.
"Hey, Boss Dai, I heard two new students are really badass and even broke Teacher Zhao's Immovable Ming King Body. Who are they?" Max asked, trying to change the subject as no one was paying him any attention. He was full of curiosity.
"One is Ryan. You've already fought him. The other is him." Blake patted Max on the shoulder and pointed to Leo beside him. "This is Leo. He has a twenty - level beast martial spirit, oh no, a twenty - level mutated martial spirit."
When Blake mentioned Leo, Aria couldn't help but look up. But when she saw Blake's meaningful look, her face turned cold, and she immediately turned her head away.
"What? A twenty - level mutated martial spirit? And he made Teacher Zhao suffer? " Max's eyes widened in disbelief. "Ryan is level twenty - nine. I can kind of accept that, but how can a level - twenty guy make a level - seventy - six Soul Saint suffer?"
Blake chuckled. "Don't be so skeptical, Fatty. Leo's mutated martial spirit is no joke." Remembering the battle between Leo and Teacher Zhao, Blake could still picture it vividly. Leo's soul skills were so overpowering. If you weren't careful, you'd not only get the short end of the stick but also lose a ton of face.
"What soul skills?" Max was really intrigued. He was dying to know what kind of soul skills could make Teacher Zhao lose.
Haha, you'll find out later.Blake deliberately kept him in suspense.
"By the way, these two are Ava and Aria." Then, Blake introduced the two girls to Max.
Everyone had a brief acquaintance. Oscar still hadn't shown up by the time they finished breakfast. Apparently, he had overslept again. Blake and Max were so used to this that they just shook their heads helplessly.
