The Lazy Demon Prince Can’t Catch a Break

Chapter 1: Typical Reincarnation

You'll find that many novels, manga, etc, have the same story. The protagonist gets hit by a truck and reincarnates into a fantasy world as a baby, or the protagonist suddenly regains memories of their previous, modern life when they hit their head. So obviously, after mentioning this, you should realize how this will go.

Yes. I, a former seventeen-year-old boy from the modern world, have found myself in the body of a twelve-year-old child after being brutally mutilated by our lovable Truck-Kun. And from that information, you might think, 'Oh, that's not too bad.' But it is, and I'll tell you why. It's because I didn't reincarnate into your average human child.

'Oh, so you reincarnated as a commoner. Is it really that bad?' No, shut up. I reincarnated as a demon, you bastard.

And to make it even worse? I reincarnated as a demon noble! Silas, The fifth prince of the strongest demon lord in the demon realm!

'Hey, but at least you got reincarnated into such a strong bloodline; you should be pretty well off!'

Yeah, hooray. That doesn't matter at all. I'm not your usual protagonist who is like, Oh Yeah! I can't wait to become stronger and fight monsters, and become a hero! Hell no! I want to live a lazy and peaceful life. You know, I always imagined that if I were to get reincarnated into a fantasy world, I'd like to learn magic, like instantly cleaning a room so I don't have to or instantly cooking food, so I could laze around more, but this crazy place doesn't allow that.

In this world, the demons are all crazy psycho bastards who are obsessed with battle! These crazy fuckers start massive wars just to quench their desire to battle! These guys are the absolute opposite of me! I seriously think that the god, or gods who sent me to this world, absolutely hate my guts.

Want to know the way I got my memories? My sword instructor beat me into a bloody pulp with pure, unbridled joy, and then I woke up in my bed, remembering everything whilst being in excruciating pain. I can still hear that woman's laughter in my dreams, and it sends a shiver down my spine each time I even think about it.

Anyways, you might be thinking about my appearance, and yes, it's how you'd imagine your typical demon lord to look. Short black hair, deep crimson eyes, and the usual horns on both sides of my head. If you looked up a picture of a younger demon lord, I would show up.

And yes, the damn horns make it very hard to sleep on my side. It sucks.

Other than not being able to sleep as I normally would, the major issue I want to fix is my current living situation. I got my memories back exactly two days ago and have been skillfully acting as if my injuries made me bedridden. In this short time until my father or my instructor comes to drag me back to train, I, Silas Val'gaan, the Fifth Demon Prince of the strongest Demon Lord in the Demon Realm, need to find a way out of this hellish place.

Yeah. You heard me. I'm getting the fuck out of this place.

'But Silas! You could become super strong and rule as a Demon Lord!'

Yeah, no thanks. I'm gonna hide my identity as a demon and escape to Lania, the other large continent besides the Demon Realm. There are many different races on that continent, like humans, elves, dwarves, etc.

'But Silas! The other races despise demons!' Okay, but I have an inherent shapeshifting ability; I'll just make myself look like a human. And yeah, mages can detect me, but due to my bloodline, I have a huge talent for that ability, so you'd have to be a crazy strong mage with super senses to tell that I was a demon. And even if it is a risk, It'll be a whole lot better than staying in this place. If I stayed here, I'd end up getting challenged to a duel, and then I'd be reincarnated again.

But the hardest part of this mission is avoiding my maid. She's constantly in my room, just standing in the corner, watching me as I sleep! And no! I can't just push past her. She's a maid in the Demon Lord's castle. Obviously, she is going to be some crazy strong monster!

She's Rania Torris, a woman from a demon family specializing in their assassination techniques! I can't fight someone like that! Her eyes are scary, too. And her voice feels like a cold blade that's ready to slit my throat whenever she asks me things.

Whenever Rania finally leaves my room, I plan to exit through the window and climb to the ground. After that, I will run as far as I can until the day, then find a source of food and water.

I'll repeat the cycle of running, eating, and sleeping until I can reach the port, and then I'll sneak onto a boat, change my appearance, and then I can plan from there.

'But Silas! what about the monsters in the forest?!' Heh. Due to my demonic nature, most monsters see demons as their predators and back away. Honestly, I feel kinda bad for the monsters. The poor things have been so traumatized by the demons that they developed an instinctual fear for them. But I'll happily use that factor so I can get to Lania and start my journey to live a lazy and peaceful life.

Ah! I've been rambling to myself for way too long! I opened my eyes to peek around the room. It had turned night, and Rania had actually left me alone for the first time in two days! My plan starts now! My lazy and peaceful life, here I come!
