Chapter 187: Chapter 187
"Truly? Children still talk about me?"
I nod my head, take a sip of the tea, and say.
"Yup. The legend of Ushiwakamaru is familiar to the people of my era. Like the story about the Gojo-Ohashi bridge that has turned into a nursery rhyme."
"A story about me…"
She smiles at my words.
"It's that popular? It is hard for me to believe that."
"I am not lying, you know?
"Ah! I am not saying you are lying."
She quickly shakes her head and says.
"I don't think people will ever familiarize themselves with me. I had been fighting for my entire life. It was from a feeling of wanting to be of someone's assistance, wanting to help others. However, such logic wasn't to be understood by anyone."
She gives me a bright smile.
"That's why I'm so happy that I find it hard to believe."
How can this woman be this cute?! Urgh.
"Ushiwakamaru, your will has resonated within many people's hearts. I mean, your story has been told for thousands of years, you know? You are a hero in many people's hearts."
She looks to the ceiling and says.
"I am glad. I am glad that I became someone's hero."
I nod my head and get up.
"Anyway, I think I should go. I don't want to make Ibaraki wait too long. She is someone who cannot stop moving for a few minutes."
"Ah! I am sorry to hold you down. I am just curious."
"Think nothing of it. I am more than happy to tell you about your history and legend."
I wave my hand and leave the house to see Ibaraki looking at me with a scowl.
"Take you long enough. Come on. We need to return to the cave. We have people to extort. We don't want those people to think they can take over our base, don't we?"
"I don't think they have that kind of thinking, Ibaraki."
"Bah! A true Oni will always try to take over his lord's position. An Oni needs to keep his boss on their toes, or they will go soft!"
"But they are not humans."
"Bah! They are under my command! That means they need to act like Onis!"
I smile a little and shake my head.
"And you! You need to act more like a dragon! If not for your nature as a dragon, I would think you are a human!"
"I was a human."
"What?"
I look at her in surprise as we walk toward Uruk's gate.
"Huh? Do I never tell you about that?"
"No! What do you mean you were a human?"
"I was a human. I was born a human, but because of my power, it changed me into a dragon. I know a magic called Sky Dragon Slayer. It is dragon magic that slowly turns my body into a dragon. I also have the soul of a dragon, granted by a Dragon God of Time that lets me use the Primordial language of dragons."
A star appears in her eyes and says.
"Really? Can you show me?"
"Let's leave the city first. It is rather destructive."
"Fine. Come on! Let's get out of this stuffy place."
We leave the city, and when we return to the forest, Ibaraki looks at me and says,
"Let's hear those words!"
I shrug, take a deep breath and shout.
"Fus! Ro! Dah!"
I decide to use the full power of the Thu'um and watch as a good chunk of the forest gets pushed away by the force of my voice. Even the ground gets pushed away by my voice. You know… It is no longer uncomfortable for me to use the full power of my Thu'um. Previously, it made my throat very dry and itchy. Now? Now, it is no longer the case.
'That is because your soul and body start to sync.'
I can hear Akatosh's voice in my head.
'What do you mean by that?'
'That means your body and soul are now full dragons. You cannot change into a full dragon because of your origin, but you are now eighty percent dragon and twenty percent human.'
'Right. I see. Will it be a problem?'
'Like any dragon, an anti-dragon weapon and spells will deal more damage to you.'
Right. That makes sense.
"That was awesome!"
I turn to the side and see Ibaraki look at me in excitement.
"Is that the language you are talking about, Ryan?! Can you teach me?! I want that kind of power."
"Sadly, I don't think you can learn that kind of power, Ibaraki."
"Bah! You're underestimating me too much."
"It is not that. Unless you have a dragon's soul, you need decades of meditation and learning of the meaning behind each word before you can shout it like I do."
It takes decades of dedication for the Greybeards to be as powerful as they are now. Even then, they can only know a few words, unlike a Dragonborn, who can learn by looking at the language.
"Meditation? Boring! I will pass. What kind of power requires me to meditate?"
"Well, that is how you can require that kind of power. When you fully master that, you can destroy a mountain with your voice."
"But I need to meditate for decades and learn. No, thank you. Anyway! Let's return to our base! We will have another spar, and you will use your voice this time! I want to experience that kind of power."
I shake my head and say.
"Sadly, I cannot spar with you for now. I need to create something to help me fight the Gods back home."
"Oh, man. Fine! However, when you are back, you will fight me with that new thing you created."
"That is fine."
She nods her head and walks to the base, leaving me alone. I take out the map and look at the location where I need to craft the class card. I need to craft the card underwater and near a divine being.
The nearest one? The ocean where Tiamat slept. I need to use the divine energy she releases to create the class card and combine all the material I have. I just hope that Zelretch's words about Tiamat are correct and that she will not notice because she is still sleeping. I don't think I can even damage the Primordial Dragon. Especially when she doesn't have a concept of Death inside of her.
It needs the sacrifice of a Grand Assassin of its title to grant that concept.
