The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 546: True Hand-to-Hand Combat

Olivia's residence in the Royal City isn't very large, but the location is excellent, situated in the center of the Upper City area known as the "Royal District," just three streets away from the Holy Fire Sacrificial Ground.

It's a three-story standalone attic, not particularly luxurious, but well-maintained, with big and beautiful spirit lamps hanging outside.

Due to the arrival of night, the lampshade automatically switches, making the light reflected into the space appear enigmatic and ambiguous.

Rod nervously rubbed his little hands, tugged at the corner of his clothes, adjusted the egg's position, and then reached out to knock on the door.

"Come in."

A crisp yet slightly lazy voice that was somewhat different from Olivia's usual briskness.

Rod's heart skipped two beats, suddenly recalling Olivia's perfect figure he saw in the Recording Crystal, which excited him greatly.

"I'm coming in."

Rod gently pushed open the door, unexpectedly discovering a pure white space inside, much larger than what could be seen from outside.

"This is the space created for me by the Red Queen and Peibela."

In the corner of the space, Olivia's figure appeared.

She wore a form-fitting long robe, showcasing her impressive figure to its fullest.

"You're too late."

Olivia's tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction.

Rod quietly swallowed, this attire made Olivia exceedingly charming, far more attractive than when she was clad in armor.

Is this the Monarch Level transformation?

"I, I'm sorry."

Rod's tongue felt tied, his feet seemingly uncooperative.

"I went to handle some matters with the Holy White Tree."

Olivia asked in surprise: "The Holy White Tree? The Great Holy White Tree of the Royal City?"

"Yes."

Rod took a few steps but didn't move into the room, nearly bumping into the door frame.

"What relation do you have with the Great Holy White Tree?"

"It lacked soul residue as nourishment, and I happened to have plenty."

"Oh..." Olivia said thoughtfully, "Is it related to your grass?"

Rod blushed slightly: "Yes, my Soul Blast tears apart monsters' souls, allowing me to acquire plenty of soul residue."

Olivia showed a bright smile:

"Well done, you have so many functions, worthy of being the Fire Will's angel, inviting you this time was indeed the right choice."

She waved her hand, and the crooked Rod at the door was instantly pulled inside.

"What are you doing? Come in, our time is limited."

Rod hurriedly replied: "Ah, right, right, limited time, limited time."

"Alright."

Olivia stretched her shoulders, misty spiritual energy instantly covered her whole body.

"Then let's begin."

Powerful spiritual energy waves spread from her body, the Monarch Level's might like a storm making Rod unable to breathe.

Boom!

Olivia broke through the air, her powerful fist exploding like thunder in the air, straight towards his face.

"Let me show you what it means to brawl at the Monarch Level!"

Bang!

With a loud thud, Rod only managed to raise his spiritual defense before being struck by a punch, flying straight out, stopping only when he hit the boundary of the space.

"Wha... What?"

Rod clutched his nose, blood gushing out.

To be fair, Olivia only used Eleventh Level spiritual energy, a level lower than Rod's, yet it broke through his spiritual defense, causing him minor injury.

But what hurt him more was his pride.

"Is this truly brawling?"

Rod stared wide-eyed at Olivia, incredulous.

Olivia frowned: "If this isn't brawling, what is?"

Rod stammered: "But, why... why?"

"What why?"

Olivia stared at him.

"Didn't you know that before becoming the Moonlight Knight, my close combat skills were the best? Even Alan had to give way to me, and after reaching Monarch Level, I deeply felt the body's power; at this level, brawling best harnesses bodily strength, especially for someone like you in the Starfire Series."

"So I invited you to experience the ascension I've gained from Monarch Level's power—this is an extremely rare process, and after today, my skills will mostly settle, and there won't be much change, while the process of insight will surely help you greatly."

"That's why I invited you."

Olivia flicked her long hair, her gemstone-like eyes fixed on him.

"What did you think it was?"

"Uh..." Rod scratched the back of his head madly, not knowing how to explain.

But Olivia probably guessed it; she chuckled: "Kid, were you thinking of getting into bed with me?"

Rod touched his mouth corner awkwardly, unsure whether to admit it.

Olivia flashed a smile that was either proud or surprised: "Little guy, I truly don't know what goes on in your head. You should understand, if my child were alive, he would even be a bit older than you; I've always regarded you as a little friend."

Rod laughed dryly: "Well, Olivia, if you hadn't mentioned it, I really wouldn't think you're much older than me; a few years difference could probably even be compensated for."

This comment amused Olivia.

"Little guy, I never knew you were so good with words before."

"Get up."

She flicked her fingers, immaterial spiritual energy lifted Rod up.

"Train properly."

She displayed a peculiar smile, her gemstone-like eyes curved, a glint of mischief flashing within them.
