The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 513: True King and the Abyss_3

Rod scratched his head, suddenly feeling that the Holy White Tree seemed rather dubious, and asked, "Archbishop, where are we heading now?"

Horus replied briefly, "The Silver Covenant."

They flew over several areas and arrived at the central region of the Upper City.

Horus landed beside a solemn castle with him.

The castle was pure white, without any markings, and devoid of any decorations.

After Horus landed, several priests bowed deeply to him, "Archbishop."

Horus nodded, "Just a routine inspection, no need to notify the Silver Priests and Forbidden Armament. Lead us down."

The priests quickly led them into a spacious room and then left.

In the silence, after waiting for a moment, just as Rod was about to speak, there was a rumbling sound, and the floor began to descend.

Its speed increased, and the walls in front of him transformed from bluish-grey bricks to darkness and then into rough rocks.

Unsure how long it had been, when Rod felt they had descended at least a thousand yards, suddenly, with a rumble, the floor came to a halt.

A faint light came from the side, and when Rod turned to look, he saw it was a very small doorway.

"Let's go."

Horus strode towards the doorway, with Rod following closely behind.

After passing through a long corridor, Rod's view opened up suddenly.

In a massive space, a giant ring was inlaid in mid-air.

It was almost entirely made of True Silver, and its dazzling reflections made Rod almost unable to open his eyes.

The entire area was snow-white, and below the ring were hundreds of altars of various sizes.

Among them, the altar directly beneath the center of the ring was the largest in scale.

The area was uninhabited, utterly quiet.

Horus said in a deep voice, "This is the True Silver Ring, an artifact that isn't an artifact."

Rod stared at the terrifying ring, too shocked to speak. True Silver is a relatively precious spiritual material, and whenever Rod used it frequently, he could only use tiny bits of powder each time.

But this gigantic ring in front of him was at least a million tons in size.

With so much True Silver smelted together, even if it isn't a divine artifact, it is one.

"Archbishop," Rod asked with reverence in his heart, "How was it made? What's its purpose?"

Although he had intersected with the Silver Covenant and their Forbidden Armament before, he didn't understand much about the Silver Covenant. He only knew that their emergency armament was used to detain and restrict dangerous individuals.

Horus said in a deep voice, "Its creation is a miracle, and the person who could create this miracle no longer exists. That person was Theodore."

"The current True Silver Ring was orchestrated by Lord Theodore. The original Silver Covenant and True Silver Ring were far simpler than they are now."

"And its purpose..."

Horus paused, then spoke in a very low voice.

"To suppress and seal the Abyss."

Rod was shocked. He knew there was something akin to an Abyss deep in the sewers, and couldn't help but blurt out, "Are you sure it's the Abyss?"

Horus replied seriously, "Absolutely, this answer is known only to the topmost members of Trorian. Remember, the external answer is uncertain. Don't leak this information casually; it would be very disadvantageous for us."

"According to recent ancient texts we've acquired from Starry Sky City, and some records from the Great Book Library, Giant King Omir established the Giant City here with the purpose of sealing the Abyss."

"Our Royal City is, in fact, above a volcanic crater. For thousands of years, it's caused us tremendous setbacks."

"It was Theodore who completely sealed this volcanic crater."
