Chapter 5: Chapter 4 The ugly truth
The silence in the living room was suffocating as Aiden's parents were silently looking at their son who laid on the couch while the doctor examined him.
tick....tock...tick.....tock.....tick.....tock
The clock kept on ticking in the living room as it only kept on getting louder and louder in the heads of Aiden's parents. unlike the cold and calm demeaner his father was putting up his heart beat betrayed which only kept on beating faster and faster. His wife didn't fair any better as she seemed looked like a mess. Her tears had long dried up as she held her husband's hand tightly as if wanting to seek comfort from him. Yet funny enough he too was seeking comfort from his wife as he held her hand just as tight.
"Hm...It is as you have feared Mr's and Ms's Baron" The doctor spoke with a sigh shattering his mother's heart. On the other hand Azrael's eyes grew distant as he started to think of what to do exactly..... It was between sending Ben or going himself to cripple the ones that caused this...... After that keep Aiden close to them and help him in his healing journey.... yes healing.
"How bad is it?......" Azrael asked sounding solemn as ever. He hoped that it isn't as bad as they thought. "I can't really tell without speaking to your son personally but from what you told me it is just a mild PTSD case which is not the worst than all of them." Hearing those words made Azrael sigh in relief as his body relaxed. "For now let the boy rest, I'll be coming again tomorrow to talk and make sure there are no surprises." The old man slowly got up while holding his bag seemingly ready to leave and Azrael only gave him a nod.
Ben was just leaning in the hallway walls as the entrance to the living room was in front of him. He heard everything that was going on with Aiden making him feel guilty for punching his brother and triggering him. He didn't visit his brother thinking he could take care of his own self but what unfolded in front of his eyes said otherwise. He knew someone did this to him, maybe it was that girl's boyfriend that she cheated with? Maybe he collected a group and started beating up Aiden? He did hear that he was the type to stir trouble........
Ben and Azrael were thinking of ways to get revenge for Aiden hopping this nightmare would be over. Yet Aiden's nightmares were only getting started....

WHOOSH-THUNK
The axe sank its blade deep into the tree with a precise hit. The one swinging the axe seemed determined in such a task that would count as minor for one of his strength. As he pulled the axe out of the tree crack noises could be heard coming from the tree before he effortlessly pulled the blade out with small splinters falling out. With just another swing at the tree bark he could hear the tree crack silently before the sounds of cracking became louder and apparent that it was going to fall. He pulled his axe as he stood to the side while watching the tree fall on the ground with a huge thud. Thankfully for the man he didn't have to deal with beasts as he chopped down the tree into small logs for him to carry. He already made sure to take care of most of the beasts close to his house so that he wouldn't wake up to any trying to invade it.
After turning grabbing the last piece of wood log he wrapped all of them together using a rope making sure it was secure so no piece falls out. He dragged the rope across his shoulder and held it tightly with his hand as he started to drag the logs across the floor of the forest while he held his axe with his right hand. as he slowly got closer to his home he noticed a hole in the ground with some leaves scattered around it. He looked down the hole and whistled when he noticed two wolves pierced by spikes. They either died due to the spikes hitting their vital organs or to just losing too much blood. He felt lucky to catch two games with one trap with such a simple yet the oldest of all traps. That was the fate of those that rarely came close to home. They all died to his traps that he scattered across the two kilometre in the forest around his house. He decided to head home with the logs first before grabbing the wolves with him back for dinner.
Winter was coming.
and he needed to stock up on food for him and his companion.
He didn't know why he separated from his other group to stay here honestly. maybe it was because his skills were dull and he needed to refine them or because he couldn't leave his new companion that he spent at least two years with in this damn forest.
Yet he felt his hair standing up when he picked up the strong smell of blood. He let go of the rope and ran towards the house of his. From the outside it didn't seem like anything was wrong with it yet when he got in he was welcomed with a gruesome scene.
The house inside looked the same you'd expect from a cabin house....... In a horror movie. The place was dark yet it still had some dim lights coming from the windows casting some weird shadows. Also some flickering candles can be seen on the table as it showed a solitary figure that sat at the head of the table. He seemed to be in the middle of savouring his meal..... one that he valued as a feast.
"Well if it isn't the slayer~" spoke the demon as his voice dripped with mirth. Aiden's stomach turned as the demon hand poked at the food. The cabin house reeked with a foul stench that made Aiden cover his nose with his hand due to filling dizzy. He watched as the demon took hold of an arm that was still oozing blood he noticed that the demon's victim had to have died recently.......He was thankful he was dead rather than eaten alive after all...
"Care to join?~" He asked while he waved the arm in his hand that he was savouring in a casual manner. Aiden could notice the gruesome wounds on the arms it had lost a lot of flesh. It was like the demon king could hardly control himself from consuming his newest victim. He saw how the arm was grasping for the air in its final moments. It was as if the victim was clinging to their lives in their final moments. The sight of this was unbearable for Aiden to keep looking at yet he kept on. He looked down at the corpse on the table which truly froze his very being.
Andrew...
Aiden looked down at Andrew's corpse that laid across the table. His eyes were fixed on Aiden as he looked at him with wide open eyes. His hollow eyes acted as a mirror that reflected Aiden's own dread. He could tell from those empty eyes the hint of hint of shock and betrayal. It was as if Andrew couldn't believe this was how his life ended.
He could see so many things yet the pain in his chest was suffocating him. The one that trusted and believed in him the most have come to hate him..... His gaze accused Aiden of betrayal. Why wouldn't he? He put all his trust in him, He should've been the one to protect him. Yet even with all his power he was carless and acted arrogantly due to the little strength he had and enabled all of this to happen.
