Chapter 98: War III
The main cultivation technique of the Ming clan was called the Misty flower technique, a soul cultivation technique that could be cultivated up to the peak of the foundation building realm. This cultivation technique was the peak of the mortal realm. Although no one had stepped on the half-core realm from the Ming clan in hundreds of years, this technique being the soul cultivation technique is more precious than other techniques in the same realm. Anything that deals with the soul is mysterious.
With divine sense, most of the cultivators could check their body from head to toe for any anomalies but they wouldn’t be able to check their soul. They would only know the color of their consciousness. Due to some soul attacks attached to the cultivation techniques, the Ming clans were dangerous. The enemy may die without knowing how they died. But this also made the body of most of the soul cultivators weaker than the average cultivators.
Although some from the Ming clan practiced on the ways of qi and body refinement along with the soul path very few succeeded due to the clashing properties of their cultivation techniques. The Misty flower technique was slightly attuned to the yin element and most of the body refinement or the qi path cultivation techniques tilted to the yang path. This was also why the Ming clan people had a raspy voice and their eyes a little sunken.
Due to the generational cultivation of this technique, the clan members of the Ming clan were born with above average soul power and sunken eyes. It had become like hereditary, just like the pettiness of the Rijal clan. As Punya was staring at the clan leader of the Ming clan, another rough voice spoke “No hard feelings Rijal’s clan leader, we have our own problems.” This time the one who spoke was Frideric Visigoth, the clan leader of the Visigoth clan. He was almost a three-meter-tall man with a rugged body.
Although his body and voice may sound like someone intimidating, his face was honest looking. The Visigoth clan mainly practiced the body refinement path of cultivation. Their cultivation technique was called the White jade body technique which was the peak of the mortal realm technique. The name of this cultivation technique was called the white jade body technique because when this cultivation technique was activated, the whole body of the cultivator would be covered in white exterior providing defense and strength boost.
This technique mainly focused on the defense of the cultivators so they would be pretty good tanks. Most of the members of the Visigoth clan were honest and simple-minded people. Although they could be quite brutal when angered, they were the last of the people to scheme. The clan leader Frideric Visigoth was a cultivator at the 8th stage of the foundation building realm and was the second strongest cultivator of the Visigoth clan. As for the strongest cultivator, it was Alaric Visigoth at the 9th stage of the foundation building realm.
Unlike the Rijal clan, their cultivation technique was a little less advanced so there was only one person at the 9th stage of the foundation building realm. The Rijal clan got lucky in finding the incomplete spirit grade cultivation technique and with the accumulation of centuries they always had at least one person in the 9th stage of the foundation building realm. At their peak, there were as many as five in one generation. Glancing at the honest-looking clan leader of the Visigoth clan Punya replied “I had expected this from the Ming’s but maybe I’m not that good at judging characters.”
Although the relationship between Rijal and the Visigoth clan was not close, they had a large amount of transactions over the years. The Rijal clan sent pills and arrays for the weapons of the Visigoth clan. Even now, many weapons in the clan were forged by the Visigoths. Frideric looked at Punya with a somewhat guilty expression and replied “You should be aware of the things happening in the capital of the kingdom. Even if this didn’t happen today something was bound to happen sooner or later.”
Punya looked at the Visigoth clan leader and nodded “You are right. Sooner or later the war was bound to reach this city. But inviting foreign powers into the city your ancestors defended for centuries you don’t expect these wolves to leave this city intact, do you?” Hearing Punya the clan leader of Visigoth was tongue-tied.
He didn’t know what to say. Although it was right that war would approach the city and all hell would break loose, they had been hasty in attacking the Rijal clan. Frideric just shook his head and replied “We have our own difficulties. You should understand more than anyone how frustrating it is to be held down in a small city, your clan stuck in the bottleneck for centuries without a way out.”
Punya also nodded and replied “Well what’s done is done. Since things have reached this point there isn’t much left to discuss about the reasons or the consequences. Even if my clan is destroyed today we will make sure your clans won’t get out unscathed. Look around you, our clan members will make sure to damage your clan’s foundation before dying at the very least. I do hope your clan would survive what’s to come after a decade.” Saying this Punya prepared his sword for the battle. The black-colored sword shone with silver-brown luster.
When the clan leaders of the two clans heard Punya their expression changed. Although they were not born yet, they had heard about the century-wise beast tides happening in the city. Last time there were many cultivators at the peak of the foundation building realm and many powerful cultivators from the Rijal clan had sacrificed their lives for the city. The beast tide was only quelled when the City lord’s mansion asked for help and a golden core formation realm cultivator arrived at the city.
If not for the sacrifices of the Rijal clan, it would have been too late. And if that even reoccurred at the same scale then the city was bound to be doomed. There would be no Rijal clan left to stand in the frontline. Punya could feel two members hidden in the cloak tremble. They were probably the supreme elders of the two clans who had lived through the beast tide. They had seen the damage left by the beasts. The city at that time was utterly ruined. Thousands of cultivators had died and many more were injured gravely.
Looking at the cloaked cultivators Punya felt there was no point in dragging it anymore. Well, the Rijal clan may not be able to survive the night today so whatever happens after a decade was really not their problem. As for the children, Punya had full confidence in the fifth elder. He had to have, there was no other option.
