Chapter 90: Bang
Punya had mostly done the preparation. Although the discussion today didn’t yield much he had a preliminary idea of putting whom to where. The resources from the elders had yet to be delivered. Punya had made the Battle hall members catalog everything on the treasury, the raw materials, and the finished products. The Battle hall members had taken over the treasury and they had prepared the name list of capable fighters in the clan in case of war.
They had made a detailed list of the clan member’s specialties and had made a general division of the products available in the treasury. Even if the war starts abruptly, they can still send the resources to the clan members in case of emergency. There were several low-level healing pills, spirit energy restoring pills as well as different kinds of talismans. Although the talisman department was in a shorthand when it came to second-grade one there were an abundant number of first-grade talismans even after Punya had given a lot of them to the fifth elder.
These talismans have been stored for decades on the clan as there were few members previously on the outpost. And since the talisman inheritance of the Rijal clan wasn’t anything extraordinary before, most of the talismans made in the clan were not cost-effective. So the clan had retained them at the cost of raw materials since the quality was not good. But now there was no such concern about the quality. It didn’t matter if the quality was subpar, when it came to your life, anything that gives them a little chance to survive helps.
The Battle hall members had put these things in a sack and had labeled them individually so the clan members wouldn’t get confused when they had to use them in a hurry. The clan was refining everything in a frenzy so there were a lot of first-grade products. From the weapon refining branch, there were a lot of inferior swords and blades that had just been made and a few first-grade ones. But since it took a lot of time to prepare the second-grade weapons, there were only a few available in the clan. Even the Battle hall members who had broken through the foundation building realm were using first-grade weapons.
Punya had given them most of the second-grade weapons that were present in the clan treasury but there was only so much. There were only two members of the clan that could refine second-grade weapons. When it comes to the second-grade weapon, it wasn’t just about the weapon refining cultivator, the materials were also hard to find and some of the processes were long and tedious. For example, there were a few types of spears whose shafts only required quenching on the special liquid for forty-nine days. Imagine waiting forty-nine days just for the shaft. And this was only for a second-grade spear.
The inheritance from Amrit also had specific requirements for the weapons and armor. This was why it took the third elder almost a month just to refine a halberd. The weapon crafting process was similar to alchemy, there were different processes and it could fail at any time resulting in the final product being subpar. There were many such weapons on the clan on the verge of being second grade but due to some accidents remained at the peak of first grade.
Punya had sent such weapons for the Battle hall members when they were in the outpost. The Battle hall members were diligently cataloging the resources and were ready to deliver them to the clan members in case of emergency attacks. As for Punya after the meeting was adjourned for the day he had asked his subordinates to relay messages to clan members staying in the city. The Rijal clan had many shops so there were many members of the clan looking over them.
Although the city was usually peaceful, the clan had put idle members and those with business talent to oversee various shops. These members usually stayed in the shops as a form of protection in case some vandals or thieves decided to visit them at night. But now Punya had asked them to return to the clan. Except for the clan members, the shops had few people from the city. Some of them were servants of the clan, some of the mortal bloodline branch who couldn’t cultivate and others were talents scouted by the clan to help in the shop.
However, most of the overseer position was given to the cultivators from the clan who had low cultivation realms. He had instructed every overseer to give the workers a three-month salary in advance and bring whatever good resources were left to the clan. Although most of the resources had already been brought, the shops had their channels and could collect the materials daily. Aside from the servants in the shops, there were many servants in the clan.
Punya had also given them a three-month equivalent of salary to them and let them leave the clan. Although most of the servants were confused since it was an order from the clan leader everyone complied. Most of the servants had family in the city and there were only a few without anyone or some who had been raised by the clan. Some of these refused to leave the clan but Punya made it mandatory and gave them the excuse that they were doing an inspection on the servant quarters. As for the guest elders, they had used the clan resources for free so it was high time they repaid the clan.
The afternoon was coming to an end and though many servants usually leave the clan daily, today there were a little bit more. The people near the Rijal clan were curious and started inquiring. After asking the servants, they found it was due to mandatory inspection. The clans did inspections sometimes to look at the quality of the servant quarters and if someone had stolen something from the clan. Some of the people that had heard rumors found something amiss but they could do nothing about it.
Gradually evening fell and the golden sunlight once again kissed the city of Lunaris. Punya after finishing the work went towards the supreme elder’s residence for dinner and talk. After reaching there he found no one was present so he sent a message. After a while, all five family members were present in the waiting room. Amrit had prepared weeks’ worth of food so the family of five happily chatted and ate.
After finishing the dinner, they discussed about the things that happened that afternoon and the night gradually enveloped the realm. As they were talking the expression of Keshab changed abruptly and after a second a sound was heard throughout the clan ‘Bang’.
