Chapter 68: Taking Action III
Although the night was getting deeper and getting more eerie, the paths were marked clear enough for the divine sense of the foundation building cultivator to find them. The nighttime cleared out the distraction and only the sounds of small animals as well as some insects remained. They found more traces without much effort and followed them. After following the traces for nearly two hours the traces of human cultivators were becoming clearer. Before when they had just started, there were some fake traces, planted to throw them off their course and buy time but after some time the Battle hall members got used to it and it became fast and easier.
When more traces of the four people were found they had unknowingly reached a small clearing. On the clearing, there were four people talking and using fire to roast the beasts. There were arrays and some small traps laid around them to warn if something came closer. But what they hadn’t expected was that the Rijal clan had sent twelve foundation building realm cultivators looking for them. This was an overkill. Even the strongest of the four people had just reached the 7th stage of qi sensing realm.
If it was a qi sensing cultivator, those warning arrays and traps could warn them but against the foundation building cultivators with divine sense, it was just like having an air wall. There was no resistance. As the four people were talking and eating, the foundation building cultivators scoured the area to see if there were any traps. After not finding anything abnormal, they surrounded the four of them and used the meridian sealing techniques. The four couldn’t even utter a sound when their meridians were sealed and a force chopped their neck, everything in their surroundings went dark and they passed out instantly.
After some time maybe an hour or two the four people woke up. When they opened their eyes they were instantly terrified. There were two big beasts with dark manes, long teeth, and red eyes staring at them, emitting bloodlust. They were six-meter-tall beasts called Silver Fanged Wolfs. This beast had long silver-colored fangs a little longer than other wolves. Its body was covered in dark grey fur and the mane was black. The distinguishing features were red-colored eyes that stared into the soul and the silver fangs were capable of piercing even the hard minerals.
The most notable feature was that they were attuned to the shadow attribute, an uncommon trait among the demon beasts, and unlike other wolves they were loner, it would be hard to find a herd of more than four members. They could break through to become second-grade beasts easily but there would be hardly any third grade Silver Fanged Wolves. Seeing the two Silver Fanged Wolves fabled to be cruel beasts that play with the prey before tearing their limbs apart, the four people nearly pissed in their pants. They had a hard time configuring their present situation. They previously felt an attack on their neck and blacked out.
When they opened their eyes they were in a different part of the jungle and two ferocious beasts were staring at them hungrily. At that moment a sound came asking them the question “Who sent you to trash the Rijal clan’s shops?” Although the four people found the question and timing somewhat wrong, the voice felt like a heaven sent opportunity for them. One of them shouted hurriedly “Please save me quickly. I will answer the question.” The beasts were still snarling and getting closer. The voice again asked, “I will only save the one who answers first.”
Hearing this another person hurriedly replied “It was the Ming and Visigoth clan members. There were deacons in foundation building realms. They paid us heavily with spirit stones and cultivation pills. They said that they would protect us after we reached their outpost in the Bareback mountains.” The person finished this in a breath. Seeing the wolf stop after he answered he heaved a sigh of relief. Then the voice appeared once more “Is this person telling the truth.”
Seeing another opportunity arise another member hastily nodded and gave the description of the two deacons who paid them. These four people belong to minor families who had few foundation building realm cultivators in their clan. The voice appeared once again “Alright you can kill them.” Just as the four people were about to protest four swift blades appeared and beheaded them, their eyes open and filled with resentment. As the four heads dropped into the ground, the two silver fanged wolves dissipated and the training ground was revealed, the wolves were conjured by an illusion array.
It was surrounded by the Battle hall members and Radha was watching the corpses coldly. She told the members to take care of the corpse and resume training as if nothing had happened. She signaled one of the middle stage foundation building cultivator to come forward and passed a jade slip and instructed him something. The cultivator nodded and left the ground. The remaining Battle hall members were starting to resume training and Radha instructed them on their moves and their flaws. Meanwhile, the cultivator with the jade slip hurriedly and covertly left the outpost.
He traveled through the forest and reached the city. Same as the previous members he entered through the safe passage and arrived in the clan. It was almost midnight and most of the clan members were sleeping. There were a few clan members patrolling the clan compound and two guards were sitting on the both sides of the clan gate. The Battle hall member was covered in hood and when he reached the gate, he flashed the token belonging to the deacon. The guards hurriedly stood up and bowed towards him. He signaled them to be silent and went inside the clan disappearing in the darkness of the night.
Many houses in the clan were still lit, and most auxiliary professionals still tinkering with their professions. Most of the members who were able to fight had already started staying in the outpost. At this moment there were few fighters left in the clan. The black hooded member nodded at the dedication of the clan members and walked towards Amrit’s house. He knew the clan leader had left the clan hall when the last ray of sun left the clan.
He reached the house and used the array placed in the door to wake up Punya. He was fast asleep and when the array sounded, he woke up groggily. Although the foundation building cultivators can go on for a few days without sleeping, the Rijal clan members favored the routine of mortals.
