The last Asura Sovereign

Chapter 118: Changes in the Battlefield VII

The instant two ribbons on the halberd flashed, they made a ‘swoosh’ sound and the cultivator from the Thapa clan stepped back blocking the light with his qi. The cultivation technique of the Thapa clan was called the Yellow Earth Technique a spirit grade cultivation technique of earth and metal attributes. Although it wasn’t high in grade among the spirit grade cultivation techniques, it had both the attributes of earth and metal so it was quite extraordinary in the Emerald kingdom.

Their sword technique Black Swan Returns was compatible with their cultivation technique so they could exert more power in their attacks. When the cultivator from the Thapa clan looked at where the ribbons were, he was instantly furious. The ribbons had slashed at the cultivator of the Ming clan. When Amrit battled with the Thapa clan cultivator, he was not using his full strength and was leading him toward the location just enough to unleash the ribbons. The cultivator of the Ming clan was shredded by the ribbons.

The scene was quite gory, except for the intact looking head, his other body parts were minced into chunks. After a moment, the intact looking head split from the middle spilling blood and brain matter on the ground. Looking at this scene, a little bit of rage inside Amrit calmed down. But it was different for the cultivator from the Thapa clan. He had given quite a face for Amrit but Amrit had killed the cultivator he tried to protect before his eyes.

It wasn’t just about giving face, the cultivator from the Thapa clan felt humiliated. He tried to play nice but a country bumpkin got one up on him. He circulated his cultivation technique and used his sword technique and rushed towards Amrit. Amrit was also anticipating this. He knew that after enraging the cultivator, the battle would be more difficult than previous ones. Although Amrit had grown stronger than before and could contend with the late-stage foundation building cultivators, this was also a limit for him. He had to use all his efforts to battle with the late-stage foundation building cultivators and the one before Amrit was from a second-tier city.

Amrit charged up his aura and injected it into the halberd. The halberd was throbbing on his hand as if it was enjoying the moment before battle. This time Amrit had instilled a little bit of his killing intent and bloodthirst on the halberd. Although he had sublimed it and could form armor, he was not yet capable of manipulating the killing intent as he wished.

If he succeeded in completely fusing the killing intent on his halberd, then every attack of his could impact the soul of his opponents. Positioning the halberd in an inclined position from his right hand, Amrit rushed towards the Thapa clan cultivator. He knew this was going to be a serious battle from now on so he was using a lot of his qi.

Using the first move of the heavenly halberd technique along with the nine nether steps, he rushed with a fierce momentum. When the two of them clashed the air was torn with the crimson black aura and black yellow aura. The air was cracking with electric currents dancing wildly. The sword seemed to be of higher quality than that of a halberd but since the halberd had superior design and was forged with absolute precision, it was holding on its own. It was bending a bit due to the property of the materials made, but overall with Amrit enforcing his aura, it was getting harder and flexible at the same time.

The ribbons were also dancing chaotically without any aim but the cultivator from the Thapa clan was wary of them so much so that he felt like he was stepping on the eggshells. And he needed to be cautious because Amrit seemed to hold back in their previous fight. Amrit had already shown his cunningness so it was better to be careful.

He had seen with his eyes what the decorative ribbons could do to a cultivator. Every part of the Ming clan cultivator’s body was minced in an instant. So he was wary of the beautiful dance made by those ribbons. This made it harder to exert his full power. It may even appear that he was being more cautious than needed and the ribbons may not harm him as much as he had thought but it was foolish to take chances on the battlefield especially when a blink of an eye can take your life.

After distancing himself, the cultivator from the Thapa clan infused even more of his qi into his sword and once again leaped towards Amrit. The two cultivators once again clashed with immense force. This time they were going all out. It had been the first time Amrit had given his all to any opponents. Although he had used his full power in the illusion array, the beasts were still a soulless bunch and after some repeated battles, anyone with certain battle awareness could figure out the pattern.

But this time it was an experienced cultivator and a strong one at that whose moves and tactics were completely unknown. Amrit was starting to have a maniacal grin on his face. It was involuntary for him when he found something exciting. His eyes were beginning to turn red. Amrit was aware of this phenomenon but he found no effect on him whatsoever from the change in his eye color. He had always used one path of cultivation when fighting with his opponents but he also knew that this was not enough in this situation.

Although his body path alone could ward off the attacks of the Thapa clan cultivator, it was not enough to defeat him and there was no telling what trump cards he could have. If he had some trump card equivalent to the peak of foundation building realm or even worse at the golden core formation realm, it would be hard for Amrit to come out alive let alone unscathed. The battle was raging on between two cultivators, there were no tricks involved it was a pure battle of skills and qi reserves.

Amrit was on the lower side when it came to the qi but his recovery speed was abnormal. It was a few times the speed of other cultivators. Under suitable conditions, he would be a perpetual machine on the battlefield. He had started using aura and qi together. For two different paths of cultivation, if certain mastery in manipulating them had reached, they enhance each other rather than disrupting like in initial mastery.

Amrit had reached great heights in mastering aura and qi so much that it was becoming natural for him like an instinct. It was only soul path manipulation that had fallen behind a bit due to insufficient knowledge.
