Chapter 116: Changes in the Battlefield V
Amrit had the battle instincts of a battle cultivator but he still lacked battle experience. He had been training on the illusion array for barely a month. Although with his bloodline, it would be equivalent to years of battle experience for ordinary cultivators, any foundation building realm cultivators here had the battle experience of decades.
So even if Amrit was prepared, the old generation who had been battling for years could outsmart him. But this was only temporary, he had been gaining experience rapidly, and fighting with cultivators had increased his battle awareness even more. This time he miscalculated. He knew that the soul power was faster than other attacks as they reached their opponents in an instant. He had considered the possibility that he may have to take the full-blown attack first but what he hadn’t anticipated was that the cultivator from the Ming clan was making a feint by preparing the attack for a long time.
Amrit felt something was wrong initially but he thought it was nothing serious as his instincts were flaring up for some insignificant stray attacks that couldn’t even scratch his itch. He had already figured out the strength of the cultivator to be in the middle stages of the violet soul realm. Even if he had to take on a full frontal soul attack, he was confident in brushing it off with few superficial soul injuries. So he had only placed a soul armor to protect his consciousness. But when he had just leaped off, the Ming clan cultivator attacked and this attack was more powerful than the one that killed the deacon.
Amrit although appeared to be calm it was only because the killing intent and bloodthirst hadn’t flared up, inside he was boiling with rage and his eyes had turned a shade of crimson red. In mid-air, the soul attack reached Amrit. He had already put up defense on his consciousness so there was nothing much to fear. When the violet-colored soul attacked Amrit, it passed through the red and black armor of killing intent and bloodthirst making a sizzling sound before reaching his temple.
Both the cultivator and Amrit were surprised for a moment. The Ming clan cultivator was surprised because he felt that Amrit had some precious treasure on him that could guard against the soul attack and Amrit was surprised because the soul attack became a bit weaker when it passed through the black and red armor. He knew that killing intent and sometimes bloodthirst contained a part of cultivator’s will but there was no one on the Lunaris city whose killing intent or bloodthirst could offset the soul attack.
This time Amrit could do that because he had sublimed both the killing intent and bloodthirst taming them and taking a step further into materializing them. Since no one had succeeded in reaching the step Amrit had taken just now, it was a piece of new information for Amrit. Even Radha had not succeeded in sublimating the killing intent and materializing it in the form of armor. Even the old generation had only succeeded in flaring up the killing intent and pressuring the cultivators in the lower realm than them.
It was used only to scare other cultivators. Now Amrit knew he got another card in further dealing with the soul attacks. If he could instill the sublimed killing intent in his normal attacks, he could probably do some soul damage too. It just happened in an instant and by the time the soul attack collided with the soul armor, the soul armor just shook a little and caused a mild headache to Amrit. He reached before cultivator in the next second.
Although he had stopped a bit in mid-air due to the collision, there was barely any change in his momentum because of his way of adjusting his body. Amrit didn’t know this yet but his body had adjusted to optimal position so as not to lose the momentum. It wouldn’t have mattered anyway as he had focused most of his aura into the halberd so a single swing would still cause massive damage.
The Ming clan cultivator was shocked for a moment due to his failure in injuring Amrit, he had thought even with treasures, Amrit would at least be injured severely if not crippled. But nothing happened and he had prepared a contingency plan for it. He was ready to activate the defense talisman with a thought. The weakness of most of the soul cultivators was their body so most of them carried defense and escape talisman with them. After getting shocked, there was a look of greed on his face a moment later.
If he could obtain the treasure capable of withstanding middle-level violet soul realm cultivator, he would be invincible in his realm and who is to say that it could only withstand attacks from the middle-level violet soul realm cultivators? Amrit swung his halberd and his strike struck the brown earthen barrier in front of the Ming clan cultivator. The barrier shook wildly and tiny cracks were seen.
Amrit in the fit of rage swung his halberd again and again. Even the previous Ming clan cultivator had used the same barrier-type talisman to hold against his attacks. The tiny cracks increased and after a few blows, shattered into pieces. The Ming clan cultivator was shocked again because this barrier could withstand up to the late stage foundation building realm cultivator’s full frontal attack.
He hurriedly took out another same type of talisman and shouted at Amrit “Who are you? Why are you interfering in the affairs of Lunaris city? If you don’t get involved in this war, the Ming clan will reward you heavily.” He said those things in a hurry because he realized this mysterious cultivator covering his face was at the late stage of the foundation building realm and if he could buy some time, he could ask for help from the elders of his clan.
But his shouting fell into the deaf ears of Amrit. Without replying, he just kept hitting the new barrier. This barrier too was covered in cracks and shattered into pieces. But as the barrier shattered, there was a whoosh sound and a dazzling fireball size of a basketball was blazing towards Amrit. This bluish-red flame was obviously from the talisman and it seemed to emanate faint threat towards Amrit.
The threat was only faint and Amrit slashed it with his halberd. The flam was slashed from the middle but instead of disappearing it exploded near Amrit and engulfed him. The bluish-red fire was spreading around Amrit with great heat capable of melting many second-grade metals. Although the initial flame was only basketball-sized, after exploding, it covered three meters around Amrit. For a brief moment, Amrit turned into a blazing human.
