The last Asura Sovereign

Chapter 109: Battle III

But as the battle went on, Amrit became proficient in using the whirlwind force and could even insert his will after the aura left his touch. When the aura went inside the body of Amyas, it was not diffused immediately. Although it still couldn’t cause as much damage as Amrit had hoped for, he knew he was going in the right direction when he saw the furious reaction from Amyas.

What Amrit didn’t know was that Amyas was not furious about the aura damaging his insides but that Amrit was treating him as a grindstone. The more Amyas saw the refined aura of Amrit, the more furious he got. In the end, he increased his firepower. However, the increased firepower only helped Amrit understand the technique he was going to create. The fight became fierce and both of them stopped holding back.

The fight began to elevate and reached the level of late stage of the foundation building realm. Any cultivator near them had already scurried away and those on the air had given them space as they didn’t want to get in the middle of such a heated battle. The fight dragged on for almost half an hour. Although the time of half an hour seemed short, in the battlefield it was enough to change many things and in many cases, it would be enough to decide the winner and loser. But on this particular battlefield, things were a bit strange.

The top-level strength was fighting on the air, the middle level on the ground but the lower level was the one seriously fighting. The most casualties were the lower level of the cultivation spectrum here. Those up to the late stage of the qi sensing realm were considered lower level of battle prowess. As for the peak of qi sensing and the initial stage of foundation building realm, they were considered middle level whereas the peak of the foundation building realm was considered peak level battle prowess in the city of Lunaris. Only the cultivators in the qi sensing realm were fighting as if their lives depended upon it and many of them were dying due to the attacks from their opponents or from the stray attacks.

As for those in high level, they were battling on the air but it seemed they were just fighting superficially as if they were still gauging the power of their opponents. Although few of the battles were serious and they were truly fighting for their life, and a few of them died too, it was very few, most of them seemed to be waiting for something. As for Amrit and Amyas, they were starting to pant a little bit. Although the stamina of the body path cultivator was great and so was their recovery, there were still limits.

Amyas was panting because he had used a lot of techniques using aura and the damned opponent seemed to recover from any attacks swiftly and Amrit was panting because he had used more aura than he needed to finalize his move. There were a lot of unnecessary experiments and tuning before he could create the perfect technique he had envisioned. So even if Amrit had a great amount of aura as well as swift recovery, he had to waste a lot of the aura and he still hadn’t finalized the technique. Just getting a hang of it was not going to cut it.

He had almost everything he needed in theory but using it in practice was a different matter altogether. But even after improving the fine lines of technique for half an hour, Amrit felt there was still something missing. He knew that he was just a step away. He had reached a crucial point in creating his technique but he didn’t know how to take that step. He had created a blueprint and just needed a little bit of insight to perfect it. Amyas and Amrit were going at it clashing their fists and legs and whatever body part they could inflict damage with.

Amyas was still using techniques and his breath was getting heavier. Amrit similarly was short of breath but both of them were now hell-bent on killing each other. Amyas, because he felt Amrit treated him as a sparring partner and Amrit because he was getting frustrated. When Amrit couldn’t breakthrough into the foundation building realm, he made peace with that because there was literally nothing he could do to the barrier but now being on the precipice of creating a perfect fist technique tailored for himself and always getting stuck at the last step was frustrating him to no end.

Slowly, the killing intent and bloodlust began creeping out of Amrit. As Amyas felt the bloodlust he knew the fun was over. Since both of them had spent a lot of their aura, they knew their fight wouldn’t last for long with such intensity. But just as they were starting to fight with full force, Amyas took out a red pill and swallowed it. This pill was an aura recovery pill that could recover half of the aura of cultivators in the body cleansing realm.

This was similar to the qi recovery pill, qi path cultivators used but the main ingredient was flesh of the demonic beast and a single demonic beast could be used to create a furnace of aura recovery pill. Although it wasn’t expensive for strong cultivators, it was somewhat more expensive than qi recovery pill. After Amyas took the aura recovery pill, more than half of his aura was recovered in an instant. This type of pill didn’t have many drawbacks except they could only be ingested once a day, any more than the effect would diminish greatly and would harm the body of a cultivator instead of recovering aura.

Although from the outside Amrit seemed at a disadvantage, he wasn’t shaken at all as he knew his strongest trait was recovery rather than defense. And while battling, his cultivation technique would recover the aura automatically. And this was a battlefield, with blood everywhere, he could use it for temporary recovery if he was in a pinch. Instead, he was focused on his technique. The two clashed with greater power than before.

The shockwave sent the sand flying everywhere and gusts of air were sent far, some of them still carrying the remnant of energy still lethal to those in qi sensing realm. Amrit once again concentrated all his aura into his fist. The aura flowed through his body creating a thin armor-like layer of crimson-red color. Except for the hand, all the aura over the body was stable. In his hand, the aura was still spinning creating a slight conical shape infused with his will.

He then clashed his fist with Amyas. This time there was a slight wincing-like expression on Amyas’s face. Amrit knew he had done a bit of damage this time.
