Chapter 58: Trace Back to the Origin
"Isn't it the same?" Li Qianxia glanced once.
"The hair." Yang Qinglan immediately detected something was off.
"As expected of Miss Yang." Li Changzhou applauded.
The hair, one photo taken three to four days without washing, another five to six days without washing (perhaps even longer).
But this actually wasn't the most crucial point, a series of accidents could also lead to this situation — for instance, if a person didn't bathe for a week, took a photo on Wednesday, and then another on Saturday, there would indeed be two extremely similar photos.
And when relatives (or perhaps friends) were making the missing person fliers, they mixed up the two photos.
The most abnormal part was the same posture, the same gaze, the same angle, and that deliberate effort to replicate the same photo.
Even so, one couldn't guarantee this person was a Player, but no matter, if not, searching for missing people wasn't a waste of time.
"The hair?" Li Qianxia bent down, leaned in close to take a serious look.
"Idiot!" Li Changzhou knocked on her head.
"What for?!" Li Qianxia touched her head, angrily questioning him.
"Chest."
Li Qianxia looked down at her chest, then chuckled, "Was it shocking?"
"Are you stupid?" Li Changzhou had no words for her.
"You insult me? Twice! Qing Lan, he's insulting me!"
"Siblings should be mindful too, this time I support your brother."
"What's with that!" Li Qianxia felt depressed, "Can't you all think more purely? What's the big deal if a sister accidentally got a bit seen by her brother?"
She truly didn't understand, really didn't think it was a big deal. Could there possibly be any perverse thoughts between actual siblings?
Impossible.
Since there weren't any, what did it matter if she was accidentally seen once (after being together so long, these things happen a few times)?
Li Changzhou naturally didn't have any perverse thoughts either.
He was just worried about passersby in the rest area seeing his sister's chest (absolutely not allowed!), and incidentally correcting her behavior to prevent others from accidentally seeing (absolutely not allowed!), it was all out of a brother's love for his sister.
But he was too lazy to explain, just like Li Qianxia, both of them were pure in their hearts.
The only one with perverse thoughts on the scene was Yang Qinglan, the only child.
"How should we search? Without Zheng Qing, can the few of us manage?" Li Qianxia wondered aloud.
"Start with the person handing out fliers," Yang Qinglan suggested, resting her chin on her hand, "take it step by step tracing back to the source, if really necessary, we'll seek Zheng Qing's help."
"Great minds think alike." Li Changzhou smiled as he rolled up two missing person fliers.
The trio immediately left the mall and headed to the snack street where two female college students had gone for dinner.
As they passed a printing shop, Li Changzhou turned into it.
"What are you doing?" Yang Qinglan asked.
"Printing business cards, having a special identity can save us trouble, creating fake IDs is illegal, but just making fake business cards isn't."
Inside the printing shop there were five computers, two of which were in use.
The trio found a corner computer, Li Changzhou pulled out a chair, Li Qianxia sat down on it.
"What kind of business card?" she proficiently opened the software.
"Lawyer, it's less likely to be exposed." Li Changzhou said.
"What about the photo?"
"Take it now."
"Business cards generally don't have photos." Yang Qinglan quietly remarked.
Clearly, these two had never even touched business cards before.
Reminded by Yang Qinglan, Li Qianxia shifted away from the habit of listening to everything Li Changzhou said, and skillfully found a law firm and copied its information.
"Use 'Ming Lake Law Firm' from Ming City Technology Tower, they are all in the hospital lately, dead men tell no tales." Li Changzhou reminded.
"What kind of usage is that? Is that what dead men tell no tales means?"
"As long as the meaning is clear. Use a real phone number, mine, someone might contact us."
Li Qianxia's hands flew over the keyboard, her slender and attractive hands clicking away rapidly.
A business card was quickly composed at a visibly fast speed.
"That's impressive." Yang Qinglan witnessed it all.
"In my brother's group project, I did all the PPTs, and I even won a campus PPT award. If nothing unusual had happened, I would have become an outstanding PPT staff member at my brother's law firm, drinking milk tea, eating chicken feet, lotus root slices, and potato chips, and watching TV shows every day."
"A future you seriously considered."
"Qing Lan, you know me best! Li Changzhou always says I'm dreaming!"
"Because you mentioned chicken feet, lotus root slices, and potato chips - ordinary people might casually mention one, not three."
"Is that so? Okay."
In a few moments, the business cards were ready.
Front: firm name, mobile, telephone, website, email, office address, name, and a stamp (the 'p' was really something).
Back: world map, the firm's logo, and the names of cities where branches are located.
"Auntie, print!" Li Qianxia cheerfully called out to the shop manager.
This was her external "deceptive voice," similar to the one Li Changzhou used when he first spoke to Yang Qinglan and, coincidently, the one all boys instinctively use when they talk to girls for the first time on the phone.
The Auntie came over, and Li Qianxia cleared a space.
"Are you lawyers?" the Auntie asked.
"No, we're law students. We have a mock court event at school where teachers asked us to act as lawyers, so we came to print business cards to make it look more authentic," Li Changzhou replied.
"Oh, I see. Young man, may I consult you on a question?"
"That...okay, but we're in a hurry."
"Thank you, thank you, it's just one question, and by the way, it's free, right?"
"No...don't worry about money, Auntie, have you seen this missing person poster? Has anyone been distributing them door to door?" Li Changzhou pulled out a missing person notice.
The Auntie took a closer look, then as if suddenly remembering, said, "Isn't this the one Wang Fang distributed?"
"Wang Fang?" Li Changzhou asked urgently.
"Yes, she printed it here in my shop. I asked her who the person was, and she said she didn't know him, someone paid her to distribute it," the Auntie said.
Li Qianxia and Yang Qinglan exchanged looks.
The Auntie then asked them, "What do you need this for?"
Yang Qinglan said softly,
"Auntie, it's like this. Our school is hosting a charity event. Some students donate money, others clothes. We received this missing person notice in the evening and suddenly thought, helping to look for missing people by distributing flyers could also be a way to contribute to charity. But we need the consent of the missing person's relatives."
Her voice was like a breeze in spring brushing past the ear, or the cool shade under a vine in summer's courtyard—no one could dislike it.
Not to mention, she made a compelling case.
The Auntie was about to spill everything she knew but suddenly stopped herself.
Li Changzhou smiled, "Right, Auntie, what was your legal question?"
The Auntie, easing up, quickly said, "It's like this, my husband wants to give a shop to his mistress. The shop belonged to his father, and he claims it's his old family's—can I prevent him from giving it away?"
"Is this shop something your husband inherited after you were married?"
"Yes, just three years ago!"
"Then no problem, according to civil code article 1062, inherited properties are also considered joint marital assets."
"I, I have another question."
"Go ahead."
"Recently, my husband found out our child isn't biologically his, and he wants a divorce. Can I sue him to pay child support?"
"That—" Li Changzhou touched the corner of his left eye with his right hand.
The two female college students turned their heads at the same time, looked at each other, and pressed their lips together in suppressed laughter.
"Auntie, your situation is a bit complicated," Li Changzhou put down his hand. "We are only law students, not well-versed in law, so it woulds be better for you to consult a professional lawyer at a law office."
Lawyers always have to face the most genuine aspects of human nature, which easily leads them to lose hope in life.
In the end, female lawyers just want to eat and drink merrily, male lawyers indulge in wine and pleasure—neither truly trusts people anymore—at the very least, they grow more cautious around others.
"Alright. Your stuff is printed, I won't charge you."
"Thank you, Auntie," Li Qianxia thanked her politely.
"That, Auntie, about Wang Fang?" Li Changzhou reminded.
"Oh, her." The Auntie pointed to the door across the street, "That one in the red clothes."
Across was a franchise small supermarket of Yanghe Blue Classic, utterly ordinary, one that you could find on any street.
Six Aunties were sitting in front of the shop, cracking sunflower seeds and chatting.
