Chapter 439: Geass
Amidst the gunfire, the old man whose body was twitching stood up, trembling.
"This type of... toy?" The old man pinched a bullet with his fingers.
Chisato's pupils widened. The bullets she used were non-lethal, but they would inflict pain on the target more excruciating than death.
"Guest! Who is this old man?!" Chisato hid near the metal partition by the other side of the train door.
Pain more unbearable than death was nothing for most players. After enduring it a few times, the old man could move through the pain.
But this was beyond the imagination of Chisato, who came from a slice-of-life anime.
"Cover me," Li Changzhou said.
"Then at least wait for me to change my rounds!"
Amidst Chisato's cries, Li Changzhou dashed out.
Bang!
Sparks flew from the muzzle of the old man's gun, and Li Changzhou tilted his body, gliding past the bullets like a kite.
"Wow!" Chisato exclaimed excitedly.
The skin on the old man's face tightened as he pulled the trigger continuously.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The narrow corridor of the train was completely blocked by bullets, yet Li Changzhou was unfazed.
The human body is fragile, yet resilient like weeds. Ordinary people can live even missing half their body, and a few bullet holes are nothing.
The only concern would be blood loss, but with his control over his body, he need not worry.
Just as he was about to trade minor injuries for a close-range opportunity, a figure suddenly crashed out from behind.
Boom!
The backpack in Chisato's hand suddenly expanded, transforming into a human-sized shield that absorbed the old man's bullets.
The bullets ricocheted inside the carriage, shattering glass, and a fierce wind rushed in.
The old man downwind was suffocated as the wind blew over him like a plastic bag over his face.
Li Changzhou was upwind, but the gust hit him too—
A gust of wind breezed through his mind, leisurely traveling over thousands of miles. As the visualization completed, a faint yet buoyant force filled Li Changzhou's entire body.
Whoosh!!
He followed the wind, eerily bypassing Chisato and floated right in front of the old man.
The old man could only raise his eyes to see a flurry of feet.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The air exploded time and again. In the blink of an eye, Li Changzhou kicked seven times in a row.
Each kick was as fast as lightning, accompanied by a visualization technique—gale, thunder, lightning, fire, flood, avalanche, the rise and fall of Giant Kun, breaking the ocean apart.
The old man was sent flying, already dead mid-air.
Li Changzhou landed, slightly out of breath.
"Li Xiaolong! Kung fu!" Chisato walked up quickly, groping Li Changzhou's long legs, even reaching towards his inner thigh.
Li Changzhou strode forward and grabbed a light sphere from the old man's corpse. Inside the sphere floated a worm.
"Parasitic Beast," Li Changzhou had seen this anime. A spore that could parasitize the human body, once inside, it could alter the shape of any parasitized part—knife, claw, eyes, mouth.
Whether to use it, Li Changzhou hesitated.
He had an obsession with his own body, not even using magic to change his appearance, let alone allowing a worm to parasitize.
But if he didn't, the next opponent might not have such good luck.
Li Changzhou crushed the light sphere, and the worm burrowed into his right hand. His right hand swelled, then bloomed like a flower, with muscles and fascia swaying like petals before solidifying into one, transforming into a steel spear.
"Cool! So cool! You could totally compete in The Super Transformation Show!"
Li Changzhou turned around and looked at Chisato.
To be precise, it was the woman behind Chisato.
A 16-year-old girl with long green hair, golden eyes, and a slender figure.
Li Changzhou raised his left hand and pulled the revolver's trigger.
Bang!
Blood spurted from the girl's forehead, and she collapsed with a thud, her body swaying with the moving train.
"You—" Chisato stared at Li Changzhou, "What are you doing?"
"She's also an anime character."
"Oh, oh oh!" Chisato's cold expression melted instantly, poking his abdomen to cover up the awkwardness, "Didn't see that coming, you're actually into anime~"
"Let's go." Li Changzhou turned.
"Wait, aren't we going to retrieve it?" Chisato followed.
"This woman is called 'CC', she can grant contractors a mental power called Geass. Depending on the 'King's Qualification', the awakened Geass power varies—and CC herself can recover from any injury, sent by the holder to test our abilities."
"Oh, oh." Chisato nodded.
After two steps, she suddenly said, "If we run like this, isn't it like telling the other party we're weak?"
"Are you very strong?"
"..." Chisato puffed up her chest, "Not to brag, but I'm an ace, able to dodge bullets!"
"Dodging bullets makes you an ace?"
"Uh, I guess?"
"As a slice-of-life character, you've already done well. I won't expect you to kill with live ammunition, just use your toy bullets to keep the enemy in check for me."
Chisato stopped in her tracks.
Li Changzhou walked three meters ahead, then turned back, giving her a puzzled glance.
"Chisato is weak, but you," Chisato lifted her head, "are you strong?"
In her eyes, the deep red silhouette of a bird appeared, the mark of Geass.
The girl with long green hair—CC, slowly got up in the distant pool of blood. Regarding her own death, she was expressionless, even a bit bored, like the one hundred and eighth suitor choosing to give her roses again.
"Are you still Chisato?" Li Changzhou asked.
Chisato smiled, a cold indifferent smile.
"Looks like it's a control-type Geass," Li Changzhou paused, then continued, "a useless ability, it seems your 'King's Qualification' is lacking."
