Book 3 Summary So Far
Next chapter will be going up tomorrow. In the meantime, I realized it's been a while so here's a quick summary of events.
Artyom is traveling with the hero's party in order to uncover if the hero, Tommy, is truly from Earth. Despite being born in this world, Tommy has the memories of someone from the modern day. So if he really is from back home, it would confirm there's a new way to summon Earthers that Artyom and the rest of TOAL are unaware of. And that means there would be a lot more kids that need rescuing.
The hero's party heads to Holdbright Arcane Academy with the common goal of finding the next armor piece needed to defeat the Dark Lord. On top of that, Xerica wants to show off her old alma mater to Tommy and Artyom wants to escort Rotte to his new school.
There they meet a conniving headmistress who gives them a tour of the castle-like academy, and Artyom ends up dueling a very angry senior and Xerica's old classmate who wants to take his place in the party. He wins handily, but sees a desperate side to the student.

Afterwards, Artyom is roped into becoming a substitute teacher in order to help cover Rotte's tuition, and finds out Xerica was too. Rather than either of them tossing the responsibility onto the other, the headmistress plays them to turn it into a competition to see who the better magical instructor is.
On top of that, Artyom also meets a trio of treasure hunters keen on investigating the lost history of the academy, and eventually helps them gain entrance into one of the lost rooms protected by several traps.
And finally, the armor piece the party came here for has some form of anti-memetic protection. Every night when the party tries to search for it, they wake up the next morning with no recollection of the previous day's events after dinner. Artyom manages to leave himself a warning about these strange happenings and brings Neitra in on it as well. They started to take turns venturing with the group so there would always be someone who remembers the existence of the anti-meme and can remind the other about it the next day.
The two have only uncovered scant details so far, but are continuing their search.
In the latest chapter, Artyom entered one of the lost rooms of the academy and activated its trap, a series of turrets, but luckily discovered a flaw in its design. Now it's only a matter of time before the turrets run out of power and he'll be able to continue without any trouble.
